PGAL (pregnant after loss) Check In August 2021

Seems like a lot are really struggling with this, and this was a huge support system in my last BMB so thought it was worth starting.

1. How far along are you? Any loss milestones?

2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)

3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)

4. When is your next appointment?

5. Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here)

I had 2 late FT losses (9 and 10w), so haven’t reached those yet.

I also previously had a chemical, so past that point now that I am over 5 weeks.

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)

Symptoms are intensifying, but still mild (nausea, bloat at night, frequent peeing, localized cramps/RLP)

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)

I feel ok. I have my second beta draw today, so we feel cautiously optimistic. I will get anxious at the first u/s since that’s how I found out both times (mmc’s after hearing heartbeat).

    4. When is your next appointment?

Call with nurse/intake on Friday and Sept 22nd for first u/s.

    5. Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here)

I still can’t believe I am having two babies back to back in this pandemic. I really hope we are in a better place in April…

I like Jason Momoa (mostly from his GoT character) and JT.

I also love Bruno Mars’ vibe.

First loss was at exactly 6 weeks. Second I started having some spotting before the 6 week mark but wasn’t confirmed for another week or two, then when my body still didn’t recognize the loss I had a D&C at what would have been 10ish weeks. Both were since my youngest was born. I’d be due with the most recent loss the first week of September, and my SIL is due shortly after I was, so that’s kind of been a sore spot for me. I found out I was pregnant with this one right before her baby shower so that was kind of a roller coaster.

    2. How are you feeling (pregnancy symptoms)

I have a lot of symptoms this time. Fatigue, nausea, food aversions, sore boobs, some cramping. It’s kind of miserable but I’m taking them as a good sign. The last two I was feeling really good— I assumed because I’d made a lot of positive health changes in eating and exercise since my youngest was born. Now I realize it’s because they weren’t viable. 😢

    3. How are you feeling (anxiety wise)

Really struggling with this honestly. I cried so hard when I got the positive test because I was terrified of another loss. I’ve gotten to the point now where I’m just trying to be excited about my pregnancy and not worry so much about the “what-ifs” unless they come along. I want more kids so badly but I took the other losses really hard and they took an enormous toll on my marriage so I had kind of decided I was done trying. Then bam, like two months later here we are haha.

    4. When is your next appointment?

August 31 is my first actual appt and ultrasound; I’ll be just over 9 weeks. I have had blood work and hcg is increasing and progesterone is where it needs to be. They did call me in a higher dose of progesterone because it’s dropped some but I’m still in a good range I guess.

    5. Rants/raves/whatever (Dear diary posts and venting are welcome and encouraged here)

Ugh my weight. I’m trying to stay active and eat well but I have so many aversions to my normal healthy foods (plus I barely have energy to cook) and I need to eat a lot more frequently than I usually do to keep the nausea at bay. And I have to be really strict to come close to maintaining my “goal weight.” So I’m probably up a good 5-10 pounds already. Idk for sure because I don’t own a scale since it stresses me out so much. But I suspect I have some underlying thyroid issues that didn’t show up in my bloodwork, which would explain my low progesterone, too, because other than stress I meet 0 of the proposed explanations for low progesterone.

Also I need my husband to figure out what he’s doing with his life. 😭 In May he started staying home and I started working again so he could start a business (or buy one) and break us out of the corporate job ladder trap. But he hasn’t made a lot of progress and all that unknown plus being pregnant is stressing me out in an unhealthy kind of way!

Ok so I’m a total bore but I don’t really have a celebrity crush?? But I really love Drew and Ellie Holcomb. They’re like #relationshipgoals to me if that counts.
