Trying to Get Pregnant

TWW Weekend 8/7-8/8

**This is a thread that welcomes all regardless of where they are at in their TTC journeys. Please be mindful of topics that are discussed that could be hurtful to those going through tough times. Mention of children or pregnancies of others should have a TW (trigger warning) and be in a spoiler if possible, and only be mentioned if it is extremely pertinent to the conversation. Thanks for keeping this a safe place for us all to engage!**

Re: TWW Weekend 8/7-8/8

  • Month/Cycle: 10/9

    CD/DPO: 26/6

    Timing: O-2, O-1

    Typical LP length: 10-11 days

Testing: hopefully I can hold out til Wednesday

R/R: back to work today after a few days off. Yay: finally woke up without hacking up my lungs, even if my voice is still a bit funky, so I can work tonight. Boo: apparently the plastic safety cover for the mandoline has gone MIA so now I've got a lovely slice in my thumb from just moving the thing. At least we know it's nice and sharp?

CS/Q: nothing exciting, just in the TWW holding pattern

GTKY: Which would you prefer, time travel or teleportation? Teleportation - I'd be too scared of messing something up with time travel.

  • @fantasyflyte glad you’re feeling a bit better but yikes about your thumb!

    Month/Cycle: 1/1

    CD/DPO: 29/16

    Timing: -2, -1, 0

    Typical LP length: 14 days

    Testing: BFN yesterday

R/R: I’m expecting AF to show up today at some point. I’m wondering if FF was wrong about O day because I usually don’t have this long of a LP.

    CS/Q: nope

GTKY: Which would you prefer, time travel or teleportation? Teleportation because traveling is expensive!!

  • @shortstack930 did you recently come off HBC? If so, maybe your LP is still adjusting?

Happily my cut was wide but shallow, so it didn't really bleed. And I'm in a different type of shift today so I'm not bumping my thumb constantly lol!

@fantasyflyte Mandolines are the worst! I think I have a 50% success rate of drawing blood when using one.

@shortstack930 Sorry for the BFN :(

    Month/Cycle: 4/3

    CD/DPO: 34/4

    Timing: O-1

    Typical LP length: unknown

    Testing: unlikely

R/R: I suffer from lower back pain (like all women in my family) and have had great success with an adjustable bed. Unfortunately this means that when I’m on vacation and have to use a flat bed I can’t sleep >.< I’m choosing to view this as a positive because it causes me to get up super early and start my day.

CS/Q: My bbt chart actually looks pretty normal, just with a late O. I’m still tripped up over why I would have CM three separate times during the cycle. Is it possible for your body to start building up hormones, not reach a threshold, then try again two more times until it’s successful? If so, is that why my cycle length varies by upwards of two weeks - it’s just dependent on which time it hits a threshold for O? These are mostly rhetorical questions because I know a doctor needs to answer them. I haven’t found the right way to Google this; the internet seems to assume I only want standard fertility info.

GTKY: Which would you prefer, time travel or teleportation? Definitely teleportation. I want to live in the present.

  • @pinkkillersheep it's absolutely possible to have surges but not ovulate. It's (to my knowledge) one of the main actual causes for "late" periods - body gears up for O but the egg doesn't get released, so it tries again a few days/weeks later. I don't think it's a specific threshold thing, like "hormone levels need to be X by CD14 or else we'll try again CD21", but you can have the hormone surges and then not release the egg for whatever reason.
  • @fantasyflyte you’re probably right, this is only my second month off of HBC.

@pinkkillersheep yup totally plausible for your body to get ready to O and then not do it. That would definitely explain the irregular cycles.
