@Nik102 nothing better than a new mattress, we just got one too and expecting new pillows today
DS is finally getting the hang of this whole potty thing 🥳 still an accident here and there but he’s super upset when they happen and they are much less frequent then when we started
@Nik102 when I was pregnant with my second, I got a new king sized bed. Because I was pregnant at the time, my daughter (who was 4 at the time) referred to it as my maternity bed. Kids are too funny
@jessier19 I’m there too. You are so close to slowing down a bit!!
@MusicalFamily I don’t think I’ve been more ready for school to start than I am this year!! I mean I’ll be bawling my head off with a babe in Kindergarten. But woah, I may nap daily for a week!!
@gembud congrats! That’s a big deal! Way to go bud!
@Nik102 we’re getting a new bed delivered next week! Just ordered a quilt from Parachute that I am too excited to get too. I’m dreaming of the days where I bust out the snoogle in our new King bed!
I am exhausted. My first born son wakes me up in the middle of the night still and he’s 5. I wish he could sleep better. My second son is 1 and sleeps so good! Any first time moms I suggest looking into Moms on Call. I did it with my second and he is the BEST sleeper. I wish I did it for my first. 😴
@jessier19 I feel you on being tired. I feel I could nap ALL DAY. Hopefully these next 3 weeks go by fast! @Nik102 Having a new bed is the best! It will feel so good to have restful sleep! @gembud Hang in there with potty training! It's such a big milestone for the both of you!
I've been having some rough times with my 3.5 yo. He has frequent meltdowns if he doesn't get what he wants. It's either more books at bedtime, more TV time, more cookies, more toys, more, more, more. Trying to be as patient as I can, but man, I can't wait until this stage is over!
My first is going into Kinder as well! I'm so excited and nervous for her!
My 3 year old has been throwing horrible tantrums and just screaming NO at us. When I picked him up from school yesterday he was in time out for doing it there. It's super fun, let me tell ya. Can't wait for him to outgrow this phase!
I leave tomorrow for a bachelorette party and none of them know I'm pregnant. 😬 I printed a card for my sister to give to her when we get there saying "Oops we did it again" and "I promise, I'm the last one".
I'm another who's first is going off to Kindergarten this year! Random- they had Kindergarten screening today where they took DD for maybe 15 minutes and did several things with her. DD told me how she arranged out of order numbers, wrote her name, colors, shapes, drew pictures, and then she tells me that they asked her to say the sounds of the alphabet letters...well, my precious DD told them that she forgot every single one! Literally told them she knows no sounds!!
Edit to Add: I'm like DD, you know your sounds...what does A say? And of course she blurts it right out no problem, along with the every random letter I ask. She just shrugged and said she forgot in there.
Now normally I'm not an emotional person but my pregger hormones kicked into some unknown overdrive, and there I was almost in tears thinking about how the teachers will think my child knows nothing and how could we let this happen. Meanwhile I tell my bestie and she tries to calm me down and tells me how the worst case is that she'll be put in the lower level class....I didn't even know that was a thing! Which had me again almost in tears over my failure to prep her for this or at least remind her of letters/numbers. Again, non-pregnant me knows that this is absolutely no big deal from beginning to end, but hormonal me is not listening!!
@Lcardinal04 don’t worry, there’s still a pretty wide range of things kids do and don’t know at this age. I doubt anyone thinks your DD doesn’t know anything. She will be just fine and you will too! It’s a scary and emotional time to navigate kids going to school. I bet she will knock it out of the park!
@Lcardinal04 Hugs! Our irrational pregnancy counterparts can really find the negative in any situation. I'm sure that your DD did a fantastic job and that the people who screen kids are used to witnessing some stage fright.
Re: Weekly randoms 8/2-8/5
@Nik102 a new mattress is the best investment ever. Especially when you’re pregnant lol! Enjoy it!
