  • @gembud Yay for 8 weeks!!!!!!
  • @Panaceia I know exactly how you're feeling. It's so hard. i keep thinking "yeah but i've had symptoms before and a loss, yeah but i've started bleeding out of nowhere before".... I'm so anxious for that first US. in a good way and a bay way. Hugs to you.

@Panaceia I think if you’re comfortable doing so move that appt up earlier, I have all the confidence for you that you will see a gorgeous heartbeat and it will definitely calm you down some

  • @Panaceia I'm so sorry you are having such a rough time. I get it. It is so hard to go between feeling hopeful and scared. I would see if you can get in a little earlier. Maybe try for 7 weeks? You should be able to get a clear picture by then.

@bananasb I've had so much trouble sleeping! This is new for me too. I took a unisom last night and it did the trick... Except I was super groggy this morning and took a 9:00 AM nap lol.

AFM, I'm kind of in the same boat as everyone else. Even though we had a successful ultrasound, I've had a perfect ultrasound before and it still didn't work out. So idk, I'm just in a mood and just really want to get through the first tri. Can time speed up?? I do feel pregnant, very pregnant, so that gives some comfort.

@kgg2241 @gembud I think you're both right. I am going to see if my doctor can schedule me for 7 weeks...and maybe send me for reassurance scans every 2 weeks up to 12 weeks if the first one goes well. I'm going to ask if I can get the NIPT done at 9 weeks too instead of 10+5. They generally wait until after 10 weeks here to make sure there are enough fetal DNA cells in the blood, but if I go at 9 weeks and there isn't enough I can always rebook for later...right???

How am I only 5+1??????? I need to find some fun and safe things to do with the girls to pass the time...

  • Ok, talked to my doctor who talked me down a bit. We decided to keep the ultrasound and blood test where they are because any earlier *could* result in me being stuck in limbo...which I don't think I could handle...so just need to get through the next 3 weeks...and hope my nausea increases...it's here but I feel like it needs to be way stronger for me to be comfortable for the next 3 weeks...
  • Hi friends!

    1. How far along are you? 7 weeks today!

    2. How are you feeling emotionally? Any big milestones? Emotionally feeling so much better after seeing little bean on the ultrasound yesterday. OB emailed me today and said they reviewed the ultrasound and everything looks good so far. Gut is telling me to start believing this will be okay and start to hope to plan.

    3. Any new symptoms? Today has seemed to be the height of sickness for me. Worst day yet probably due to the fact I tried skipping the diclegis last night to *see how I do* I just hate how tired it makes me the next day, especially when I have to work.

  • idk if this is pgal specific, but i just got a call from a fertility clinic i've been waiting 2 months to get into and scheduled an appt. it's for end of sept, so i will be about 14 weeks but then, but just in case, i felt like i had to take the appt. Is that bad vibes?
  • @morgantu FX for no more spotting scares for you. I have had a tiny but of light pink spotting after DTD which I could easily rationalize but still made my heart sink and made me anxious for days after. I think a few other mamas have shared about keeping fertility appts despite being pregnant at the time. Totally reasonable IMO.

@Panaceia what a tough couple weeks for you to navigate 💕 hoping the days pass quickly before your first ultrasound and that every day you find more reason to hope
  • @morgantu Not bad vibes at all! I cancelled an appointment I had when I was pregnant with my second loss and ended up regretting it so much! When I finally got another appointment I found out I was pregnant with DD2 about a month before but kept my appointment even though I was 7 weeks along already. At my intake appointment I told them my loss history and that I *thought* I was pregnant but wouldn't have my dating ultrasound for a few more weeks and didn't want to cancel my appointment just in case things didn't work out. They gave me a surprise ultrasound right there and gave me scans (I thought it was weekly but I looked back and it was every other week) from 7 weeks to 12 weeks. It was great! And then when we started TTC #3 I was able to get an appointment really quickly (I didn't end up going because they screwed something up and I got really upset with them about it...but I wish they were following me again with this one. I would love some reassurance scans....). I say keeping the appointment is a good omen...at least it was for me;)
  • @gembud congrats on the milestone!!

@morgantu I'm sorry about the spotting! How are you doing today?

@Panaceia I'm glad you were able to talk to your doctor. I hate the waiting and wondering. What's the date of your first US?

    AFM

    1. 5+1 today I believe

    2. It's super weird... It's like my brain is split. Part of me is confident baby will be fine. My body knows how to do this now, and I know it's possible to get to term.
The other part is constantly panicked, and having horrid thoughts and flashbacks. Which increases my anxiety because I don't want to to be a "self fulfilling prophecy" or something. I talked to DH that part of me is already super attached to baby. Yet the other part seems to be detached.
He pointed out that I would rather give this baby aaaaall the love, regardless of what happens. So I'm going to try to let myself feel hopeful.
My first loss was between 5.5-6.5 weeks, and the second was just after 10. So I'll feel a bit better after that.
It's also tough not having had an US yet haha. With my last, I had already had 3 by now. And I had nearly weekly OB appointment through the whole pregnancy so I had Doppler and US reassurance frequently. Trying to adjust is hard.

Anyone else still POAS once in a while? 🙈

I finally managed to start progesterone 4 days ago. It's actually increasing my anxiety. I've been getting cramps with it. And the leaking makes me panic about spotting.

    3. Symptoms: excessive thirst, suddenly ravenous, fatigue, boobs have grown, I'm bloated, and GI. Some nausea intermittently, super sensitive to smell of meat 🤢
  • @goldfishcraker My first ultrasound isn't until August 12th. I'm sure of my dates and I talked to my doctor about moving it up, but she pointed out that if I go in at 7 weeks and baby is measuring 6.5 ish (that's around where my 10 week loss stopped growing) then I would still be in limbo and it would cause more stress even if everything is actually fine...BUT if I go in around 8 weeks then we'll know for sure if something is wrong right away. She is totally right so I'm trying to be patient until then. Also, I used my last tests at 22 dpo...so 5+1...and I am not buying anymore! I'm 5+3 now and actually feeling calmer there are no tests in the house! I'm sorry you're as stressed as I am:/ I have the same thoughts even though my gut is telling me everything is okay. When is your first ultrasound? Hopefully we'll both have a reason to celebrate soon!!!!
  • Hello all!  I’m new to the group but glad I found a thread with people I can relate to :)

    1. How far along are you?
    6 weeks 4 days

    2. How are you feeling emotionally? Any big milestones?
I’m definitely more detached this time around after my last loss.  Last time we were SO excited and attached from the moment the pregnancy test was positive, so this time I feel much more guarded.  Trying to not get my hopes up, but at the same time I’m feeling more confident in this pregnancy than my last one.  I’ll feel much better after my first appointment in a few weeks.

    3. Any new symptoms?
What don’t I have?  So much nausea, I’m gagging constantly.  My boobs are so sore.  I’m tired most of the time but that is also probably bc I now wake up between 3am-4am every day.  I’m weirdly thankful for all of these symptoms though, because my last pregnancy lacked a lot of symptoms (everything pretty much dropped off around 6 weeks) so that is giving me a lot of hope since these ones are sticking around!
  • @goldfishcraker I doing better, thanks for asking. Still no spotting since the one incident, so I'm hopeful it was a fluke.
I know exactly what you mean about the self fulfilling prophecy. Like, in an effort to protect myself, i keeping thinking that it could easily go wrong. When it likely could be fine...but that's the part I consciously have to remind myself. Ugh. No advice, but you're not alone
  • @Panaceia I'll be counting down to Aug 12 for you! I hope it goes amazingly! I totally get waiting. It's a good call and makes total sense! I have my fingers crossed so hard for you!

I haven't even gotten to see my OB yet.
Despite him telling me a few months ago that he'd want me in within 10 days of my BFP, the earliest they could get me in is Aug 5.
So I'll be almost 7 wks by then.

My understanding is that in normal healthy situations they don't do an US here until 12 wks? But...I've never experienced it for myself, so I don't know what to expect haha.
Last time OB had me in almost every single week. I was at the early pregnancy crisis clinic for the first 10 weeks too, and they did weekly  US, and then OB did Doppler or US every appointment until baby was huge and reliably moving. Dunno if he will do that if this one is going well? I think the unknown is contributing to Anxiety ha.
  • @morgantu you are exactly right!
It's that desire to protect yourself. But also the desire to celebrate and be excited and hopeful..
  • @goldfishcraker It used to be that the first one wasn't until 12 weeks, but they had a policy change a few years ago so now they do a dating ultrasound usually between 8 and 12 weeks (usually between 8 and 10) and then the NT scan at 12 weeks, and then just the anatomy scan at 20 weeks. So I think all healthy pregnancies get 3 scans now? With DD1 my first scan was at 12 weeks, then the anatomy scan at 20, there were some issues that resolved on their own after birth, but that ended up giving me monthly scans from 20 weeks until she was born:) With DD2 a fertility clinic followed me from 7 weeks to 12, so I got 3 scans with them, then the anatomy scan, then I had a fall so my last scan was at 26 weeks. This time so far it looks like 8 weeks for the dating scan, if that goes well then 12 weeks for the NT and then 20 for the AS. I asked about getting more but my doctor said they aren't covered for more unless there is an indication that one is needed. Honestly, I had a few freakouts with DD2 because of my history so I just went to L&D and they would hook me up to the heart beat monitor any time I needed it! It is going to be so hard only having 3 scans...I'm hoping because of my age now they might give me more frequent appointments to monitor the heartbeat after 12 weeks 🤞
  • @Panaceia thank you! That break down helps me to know what to expect!
So..if my OB appt it at 7 weeks, they will be scheduling be for another one 1-3 weeks later for the US haha.

    TW
my girlfriend had 2 MMC. Both were found at her 12 week scan, and had stopped growing around the 6 week mark.
I can't believe her OB wouldn't have done an earlier dating scan, especially after her first loss...
  • @goldfishcraker Yes they should! And if they don't then I would bring it up and ask for one.

    TW*****

The only reason I got a 10 week scan with my 2nd loss is that I hemorrhaged with my first and almost bled out while waiting for my body to figure it out on its own...turns out my body is not good at figuring things out, so everything besides the baby keeps growing, hcg keeps increasing etc. Luckily they caught my 2nd one at 10 weeks and got me in to the OR that day to avoid another hemorrhage.

    End TW*******

I think that dating scans should be routine procedure everywhere, especially if you have a history of loss!
  • @Panaceia oh my gosh I'm so sorry, that sounds horrible! What a terrible, traumatic experience! I'm so sad you went through that!
  • I just need to "vent" for a moment. (TW** bad dream)

    PGAL brain sucks.
I just had a nap (because kiddo kept me up and I only slept 3 hours last night, so I took advantage of his nap time 😅)
But the whole 17 minutes, I was dreaming that I was on the toilet, spotting. which progressed to bleeding.

I woke up crying, and ran to the bathroom. (All good)
I hope it's just a fear dream (had a tiiiiny streak of spotting yesterday), and not my brain telling me something/prepping me.
  • @goldfishcraker I know this dream too well. With my first 2 losses I dreamed about blood and bleeding and then I lost them so I was sure it was my subconscious telling me something was wrong. But then with DD2 I dreamed I was spotting too...so now I remind myself that it's just the stress. I had a similar dream the other day too. It's the worst. I keep checking every time I go to the bathroom and I get super stressed any time things feel a little moist in the lower regions...which is often during the hot summer. It's just our minds finding outlets for our fear and stress ❤
  • @goldfishcraker I'm sorry, that's the worst feeling. I hope it's stress induced, like @Panaceia said. Hugs
  • Thanks ladies!

@Panaceia I was trying to remember if I had these dreams with any of my other pregnancies. I must have...
(I do vivdly remember dreaming I had a baby girl, who was born lookokg 40 years old, and told me she hated me 😅. But then baby tjebed out to be a boy anyway haha.)
I'm relieved to hear I'm not the only one with these dreams and that it can turn out ok!
