Re: Weekly randoms 7/26-7/29

  • This feels like the Mondayest of Mondays. I am soooo not ready for the week to begin
  • Loading the player...
  • @jessier19 Agree. Why is today such a Monday already?? I'm still in my nightgown and haven't done anything to get ready yet. Is it time for bed yet?
  • @smoresdoeuvres I love it! I am gonna text my husband to stop on his way home 😂. I just want corn on the cob for dinner.
  • Thanks to @kgg2241 and @smoresdoeuvres, I just had sweet corn for dinner too!
  • I did too 😁
  • It is already Tuesday afternoon here 😂
My son’s been having this persistent runny nose and hasn’t been to playgroup for the past 5 days. I’m hoping it will be fine by tomorrow.
On Saturday, my husband’s sister is getting married at 8am so it will be tough trying to stay awake and energized for the duration of it. We haven’t told the whole family yet so hopefully nobody dares to tell me I look bloated. Haha.
  • Yesterday it was my sister's bday. (She is also our nanny for DS).

I was supposed to work, but I'm off injured, so we were able to go to the zoo in the morning.
Then my parents came over, and we ordered pizza and had cake before DH had to leave for his night shift.

After getting DS down for the night, sister and I played some board games for a bit. She seemed to have a good day.

And today is my dog's bday haha

The Forest fires are making it smokey here again so we might be stuck inside all day. Which never bodes well for my very, high energy toddler 😅
  • Here's another random..

Does anyone else have a play couch for their big(s)?
  • @goldfishcraker we have a Nugget for my 22 month old. Our house is small so it doesn't get used as much as I'd like (it stays stacked up as our coffee table most of the time), but it is fun! She likes to jump and climb on it.
  • @goldfishcraker we also have a nugget in our son’s playroom (basically a weirdly shaped room with a low ceiling that will never qualify as a bedroom). If I had it to do again I probably wouldn’t do the nugget. I’d probably just get some climbing blocks on Amazon. The nugget is just so bizarrely overpriced. That said, my son is only one, so maybe he’ll use it like crazy as he gets older.
  • @goldfishcracker we have soft climbing blocks/stairs for my 2 year old (got them when she turned 1) and both she and my 7.5 year old LOVE playing on them. We just got the Kimboo climbing triangle, ramp, balance board and rocker/arch. These are AWESOME!!! They are big enough that it works perfectly as a climber and slide for my 7.5 year old, and it's great for my 2 year old (though I can only leave her unattended with the rocker/arch which she loves to climb up and slide down on her own). They are a little pricey but I definitely recommend them if you're looking for something that works for a bigger kid too. We saw a similar set up at DD1's circus school so we have fun making obstacle courses with them.
  • @goldfishcraker We also have a nugget. We got one when my son was 2, and we use it A LOT! It has served as a couch, fort, maze, slide, trampoline, a place to hide, etc.

We're at the beach this week with my IL'S so I might be a little MIA. So far symptoms aren't  cramping my style too much. But we've already been asked by a few different family members if I'm pregnant!? I'm blaming recent weight gain because I can't think of any other clue they might've seen; but c'mon fam, y'all know by now that my body type is 6 months pregnant all the time! lol
    (ETA: typo)

  • We have a nugget. Tbh it doesn't get climbed and jumped on all that often, but I still don't regret buying it. As a couch it's comfortable, we read books on it every day, and I like that it's the one toddler toy in my living room that doesn't look bad. And when I do actually have the energy to set it up as a jumping gym, my son does absolutely love it
  • It’s all fun and games until one kid eats lip gloss. Good thing I have poison control on speed dial 😒

Anyone have autoimmune diseases? Specifically one that’s flaring since getting pregnant? Mines Ulcerative Colitis.
I’m having terrible stomach aches along with nausea. I know that’s a symptom thing. Lol. I posted there already, not about UC.
  • @313Meg I have hypothyroidism, Hashimoto’s. Every pregnancy, I have to get checked every 4 weeks because my levels go crazy. I know it’s not UC but I can commiserate the flare ups.

  • @313Meg I'm celiac but as long as I maintain my diet it's no worse than normal.
  • @kgg2241 @rachelredhead @jennifer_m21 @jessier19 A friend of mine worked at the nugget warehouse last year!  I had never heard of them until he started there and now I feel like they're all over the place

Random: I've already made an appointment to meet with a doula and I couldn't be more excited!

  • @goldfishcraker We’ve had a nugget for 3 years now. Use it every day. It has gotten the most use in the last year by our 3.5yo
  • @goldfishcraker I feel so out of the loop! I didn't know was a nugget was until googling it just now! I'm so curious where everyone keeps them? Are they in bedrooms, family rooms, or play rooms? I feel like I wouldn't know where to put it. In terms of kids couches/seating, we have pottery barn chairs for both our girls and the sectional in our family room has gone to the kids....which they are enjoying jumping on until I replace it before this baby comes because its a wreck!
  • @Lcardinal04 we have a Joey play couch (and extra pillow packs on the way!) They have water proof covers, which have saved us multiple times in the last 3 months haha

Ours is currently in our living room. But our son has taken over the whole main floor anyway 😅
  • The smoke from Canada has reached SW Minnesota today. I'm sure this isn't nearly as bad as it is there, but holy cow! How are you Canadian mamas holding up?

@smoresdoeuvres I'm in MN too. Its bad! We had swim lessons this am and my kiddo has a headache.
  • @smoresdoeuvres I'm in Ontario so we haven't gotten any of it. I'm sorry you're guys are feeling the effects too ❤
  • Any of y’all have good pregnancy announcement ideas for family? Don’t care about social media.

We want to celebrate this baby, as we love them as much as the first (baby #5 here). I want to do something for my family. I was pretty adamant that we weren’t having anymore so it’ll be pretty unexpected. Also not sure I should put that much thought into it as I want to share with our kids first, and they will 100% rat me out before I have time to tell them myself.

@v2hb I don't have a great ideas, but I can start an announcements thread! I've seen other months share photos of what they've done in the past and general ideas.

Edit to add that people should feel free to answer here too! It was just a good reason/reminder to do an announcement thread too.
  • @kgg2241 can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with!

I bought a cute shirt that says “Yes they are all mine” and will probably wear if we announce.

    @MusicalFamily cute idea!

@313Meg I have multiple sclerosis. My neurologist said that during pregnancy it goes into “remission” so finger crossed no flares while pregnant
  • @v2hb we just told our families because I didn’t have the patience to plan anything. 😂 The only folks we surprised were my brother and his family. They have a son who is one month younger than my son (so they’re 11.5 and 12.5 months, respectively). When they told us about that pregnancy I was still in first trimester and they gave me a onesie that said Big Cousin, which was fun. We’re in town to visit them this week and we brought my nephew an early birthday present that included a shirt that said Big Cousin. It took everyone a minute but then they all squealed and my nieces (5 and 7) have been talking about the baby in my belly all week. Super cute.
