I'm self-employed as a communications specialist, primarily serving clients in the energy and higher education industries. We live in the Southwest on about five acres and have raised chickens and had a few cows, but currently just have our two dogs and a cat. We love traveling and planning spur-of-the-moment trips is one of our favorite things. Ireland, Switzerland and Norway have been some of our favorite countries to visit, but we are eager to branch out beyond Europe as the world eventually returns to "normal".

We have one son who will be two in September. We saw an RE briefly with him before getting pregnant following an HSG. This go around, I had my IUD removed in January and we conceived that same cycle. That pregnancy ended as a blighted ovum, discovered at our 8-week ultrasound. My HSG kept rising (slowly) and the gestational sac continued to grow until 10 weeks. After that loss my cycles returned in May. The past two cycles we have had what are assumed chemical pregnancies - positive tests for a couple of days, followed by my cycle starting a day or two late. This cycle we went back to the RE we saw with our son, and we are looking forward to getting "back on track."

Hi everyone,

Ages (you and SO): I'm 40 and my DH is 38.

How many months have you been TTC?: 5 months total

We got pregnant quickly but had a loss in early May at 7 weeks, and just started trying again.

What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?: I'm using the ClearBlue Easy Advanced Digital Ovulation test kit to determine my fertile window. I was worried about interpreting the lines on the other types of OPKs, so I like this digital one. I just started tracking my basal body temperature, but didn't start until right around when I expected to ovulate this cycle and think it was too late to see an increase. I'm in the TWW now and it's really hard not to over-analyze every little thing going on with my body.

Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.) I love animals and we have a super cuddly dog and 3 affectionate cats. I'm a scientist (the kind that analyzes data on the computer, not the kind that works in a lab) that works from home and they all keep me company while I work. All my colleagues know them. They seem to know when I'm on a call and have to make their appearances. It's adorable. I love to hike, especially with the dog, and I'm into yoga, too. I'd been planning on doing yoga teacher training, but then COVID happened. I spend a lot of time reading (mainly sci-fi and fantasy but like non-fiction, too) and recently took up knitting. My DH and I have started gaming together and that's been so much fun. We like tabletop games and MMOs and love hosting game nights with friends.

@aukeev Welcome. I am so sorry for your losses. I hope that working with an RE will shed light on the root cause and hopefully you can get a treatment plan going soon / be on your way to a BMB before you know it. Feel free to join us in the IF Treatment thread (weekly). It's really the most supportive corner of TB.

@aerith123 welcome to the community! I am sorry for your loss. For OPK questions, I always refer to this amazing study that was done by Proov's founder: Amy’s Epic Ovulation Predictor Kit Experiment. But if you're most comfortable using the CBAD (ClearBlue Advanced Digital), then by all means, go for it. It can get expensive though. Are you planning on seeing an RE sometime soon?

That article is fantastic! Really appeals to the scientist in me.

I was seen by a high risk specialist, and they currently don't think there are really any issues to address. It was just one of those things that happens sometimes, and I was unlucky. I'm hoping that's the case. We got pregnant so quickly, and I'd like to see that as a positive sign. I'm trying not to worry too much about conceiving again. And I'm trying not to worry about what'll happen if I do.
