Re: Weekly Check In 7.19.2021

  • How Far Along? 12+2

    Size of the Baby? Lime

Upcoming  Appointments? Tomorrow with my actual OB.  I'm a little annoyed because I'm also doing an early GD test (even though I didn't have to do an early test last time I was pregnant, I weigh (slightly) less than my prior pregnancy AND I didn't have GD last time...but whatever I'll roll with it--and then complain here).

How are you feeling? Better! actually have a little energy today and I'm getting things done.

Rants/Raves? MH continues to amaze me with his ability to do project work.  He's got DS's new room almost completed and just ordered some new wall art for it.  Not looking forward to the heat this week but I'll just end up staying inside and it'll be fine.

    Questions?

GTKY: What's Your Favorite TV Show? Super vague questions here...but I'll go with the one I'm currently watching because it distracts me and I find it funny: Why Women Kill
  • Loading the player...
  • @blackhottamales In my old job, I was a publicist and I worked on the first season of "Why Women Kill"!

How Far Along? 14+2, but I think I am measuring a few days behind per my NT scan.

Size of the Baby? A peach!

Upcoming  Appointments? 16 wk appointment 8/2

How are you feeling? Good! Still more tired than usual (I am even napping occasionally, which I never do) but otherwise, I can't complain *knock wood*

Rants/Raves? My rant is that I am still waiting for my NIPT results, even though the lab only got my bloodwork last week and I was warned it could take two weeks...but still. I'm so impatient! I can't think of a rave offhand, but I did get my act together last night and clean/straighten up our living room and kitchen a bit, so I feel good about that! Our bedroom though is still a disaster area.

Questions? Anyone else constantly Google blood results to see the normal reference range? My doctor told me that all my bloodwork (not NIPT) was within normal limits, but from what I was researching I thought my free beta HCG was slightly high. So of course I was spiraling and DH did not understand why I didn't just trust that the doctor said it was normal. (Because I am crazy, that's why.)

GTKY: What's Your Favorite TV Show? An oldie but goodie..."Sex and the City"! It's my favorite show of all time and I have seen every episode at least 20 times. Yes, I am aware that it hasn't aged well, but it's still very comforting to me. I used to host SATC trivia around NYC bars.
  • How Far Along? 15+5

Size of the Baby? Navel orange

Upcoming  Appointments? I think I'm going to do my 2nd tri blood draw tomorrow, and then anatomy scan on August 24.

How are you feeling? Feeling great! I should go to the physical therapist for the sciatic pain, but it's not that bad, and I'm lazy.

Rants/Raves? I'm addicted to cherries. I bought two huge containers from Costco and I could eat through an entire one right now.

    Questions? Nope

GTKY: What's Your Favorite TV Show? I have a problem where, right after we finish binging a series and starting a new one, I totally forget what we just watched. I know I've watched a ton of stuff, but I always go back to Dexter as my favorite show ever. We just started watching the series again and it's been so long, I forgot what happens in each season, so it's kinda like new, haha. I'd have to give honorable mention to Ted Lasso as my favorite new show. I can't wait for season 2 to start.

  • @Lisa3379 i have an u/s that day too and am also addicted to cherries! i ate a whole bag yesterday

How Far Along? 15 weeks 2 days

Size of the Baby? a doughnut

    Upcoming  Appointments?
had one today and some blood work to test for downs, etc and my next one will be my 20 week ultrasound and a follow up with my doc

How are you feeling? some ligament pain but really good!

    Rants/Raves?

Rant: finally got told what classroom i will be teaching prek in next year! but still don’t  know my hours! i’m hoping to be part time again and would like more than a months notice if i’m going to be full time. hoping to know by the end of this month.

rave: got to hear my little guys heartbeat again today! 158bmp and moving a lot

    Questions?

GTKY: What's Your Favorite TV Show?
of all time?? Game of Thrones even though they rushed the last season, Stranger Things, Mindhunters, Roseanne, Seinfeld.
Currently we just finished Mare of Easttown. best show i’ve seen in awhile. Right now i’m watching downton abbey and after life. both are pretty good
  • @fifilala516 oh that's a fun fact.  I guess I wouldn't say it's the best show in the world, but it definitely gets me out of my head.  I hope you get your results soon! The wait is so freaking hard whether it's two hours our two weeks.  As for your question, i'm less of a googler because it just makes my anxiety worse.  I tend to do more distraction items and keep devices in a different room when i'm waiting for answers.

@Lisa3379 ha, my unpopular opinion is i don't like cherries.  Just not my thing.  Glad you sciatic pain is minimal now.

@laurabridget I would want to know my schedule too! I hope you find out soon.  I'll have to check out Mare of Easttown, never hear of it.

GD test today but not until 1pm.  I had whole fat plain greek yogurt with blueberries this morning and have a couple of hard-boiled eggs for a mid-morning snack just to make sure I don't get a false positive by eating the wrong thing.  (I'm all for knowing if I have GD, but I can't afford to fail due to what I ate today and then have to do a 3 hour...too many appointments!)

  • How Far Along? 13w1d

    Size of the Baby? Lemon

Upcoming  Appointments? This Friday I have my genetic blood draw, genetic US, and first OB appointment

How are you feeling? I’m starting to feel better but still have nausea at some point most days just not as intense as before. Sleep isn’t amazing and my neck and shoulders have been so tight. Still have mild cramping here or there.

Rants/Raves? I’ve been OOT visiting family for the past two weeks and while it’s been nice spending time together I cannot wait to get back home and sleep in my own bed.

    Questions? None

GTKY: What's Your Favorite TV Show: I don’t necessarily have a favorite but H and I love watching sports - football is our favorite, we also love F1. Mindhunters was good, hope they continue it.
  • How Far Along? 16w3d

Size of the Baby? Dill Pickle

Upcoming  Appointments? Next Tuesday! I feel like it's been forever since my last one, so I'm excited.

How are you feeling? Pretty good! Able to eat a little better, but not a lot at a time. I have also been having more headaches - like 1-2 a week and Tylenol sucks. I'm also hoping to feel more movement consistently soon. I'm pretty sure I felt some over the past couple weeks, but just here and there and nothing strong. I was able to definitively feel baby at 17 weeks with my 1st, so 🤞

    Rants/Raves? Rant: pregnancy headaches
Rave: spending time in MN with some of my favorite people (but missing my husband and dog.) Got to spend some quality time with my nephew yesterday so that was a lot of fun!

    Questions? NATM

GTKY: What's Your Favorite TV Show? SO Many!  At the moment it's In the Dark. I am also obsessed with The Handmaid's Tale. Others are Law and Order SVU along with the new Organized Crime. Others that aren't doing new episodes that I will always love are Friends, ER, Modern Family, Big Bang Theory, and Seinfeld.

Upcoming  Appointments? Not until August 13th!

How are you feeling? I thought I was feeling better, but then had a few really rough days. Still so exhausted!

Rants/Raves? We got back from a family beach vacation on Saturday and it was SO FUN, but now I'm more tired than ever and cannot work up the energy to unpack.  :#

    Questions?

GTKY: What's Your Favorite TV Show? My all time favorite is probably Breaking Bad...also love Ozark and cannot wait for the final season tomorrow! I must also admit that I am glutton for trash reality TV...

    How Far Along?  15w 5d

Size of the Baby?  A Pear

Upcoming  Appointments?  I have a 2nd trimester blood draw tomorrow and monthly follow up on Monday.

How are you feeling?  Good, but I feel like I've gotten huge overnight, which is kind of a mind eff.  I have the worst nasal congestion too, which started immediately in the 2nd trimester.

Rants/Raves?  I had no clue that every woman you meet will want to talk about their pregnancy (even if they were pregnant 40 years ago) when they hear that you're pregnant.

Questions?  Any recommendations for a support belt for running?

GTKY: What's Your Favorite TV Show?  New favorite:  The Last Kingdom  Old Favorite:  The Sopranos
  • @owly13 We are doing The Sopranos now and I am obsessed!
  • owly13owly13 member
    @fifilala516 It's very binge-worthy!
  • How far along:  13 weeks 5 days

Size of the baby:  Potsticker (random: anyone else find themselves wanting to eat whatever food their baby is the size of lol? Back when it was always candy I’d always but it- Swedish fish, peanut butter cups- damn you bump app!)

Upcoming appts:  Had my nuchal translucency scan today!  So cool to see little guy actually looking like a baby and moving around!

How are you feeling?  Fine mostly but I miss sleep.  I wish I could take a shot of NyQuil and sleep for 8 hours.  Ahhhh.  The 1/2 a unisom ain’t cutting it.

Rants/Raves:  Rave:  I got an amazing job offer today!! Rant:  It’s in a different city and I love where we live.  I have 10 days to decide.

Questions:  Not really! I get so much info from this app and forum already!

Favorite TV show:  Everyone named such good ones!  I love most everything y’all are watching.  BUT my absolute fave is Law and Order SVU!  And the Price is Right!  It’s my dream to be on it!
  • @karenmarie9 ooh, congrats on the job offer! Would you have to move far? Selfishly asking because having a Bump friend nearby is kinda cool 😄
  • Also loving Cherries right now. Target had them 70% off and I plowed through a pound in 2 days!

@karenmarie9 congrats on the job offer and good luck making a decision!

@laurabridget my husband was obsessed with GoT! I threw him a themed party for his 30th, with his very own iron throne that I constructed from an Adirondack chair, yardsticks, and styrofoam. The last season ruined the show for him and is over it now. Have you read the books?

  • @Lisa3379 - it’s in Seattle.  But obviously we wouldn’t move until after baby bc everything is still TDB around that company’s return to office date (they said they’d be flexible).  My husband is kinda stoked about it and his job is fully remote so no issues there.  But I just love California so much.  Not sure about switching constant sunshine for constant rain.  Decisions decisions.  I was/am excited to have a Bay Area bump buddy as well!
  • @karenmarie9 Seattle is awesome! I'd live there for sure. I approve. ;)

@fifilala516 YAY! So glad your results came back negative and now you can relax a bit, and another big YAY for Team Pink! We knew we were having a girl from the get-go and it's still weird to me, haha! Looking at girl clothes has been a trip after being used to boy stuff for so long.
  • @karenmarie9 congrats on the job offer! I moved from SF to Seattle two years ago and honestly the weather is not as bad as it’s reputation. Also - no state income tax so that’s a 10% raise right there. You’ll probably spend the same on housing but you’ll get more for your money. We absolutely love it here. Our jobs are now remote so we could live anywhere and did consider possibly moving but decided to stay. It so beautiful and such a great place to raise a family. That said, we love SF and if it weren’t for the state income tax we’d be tempted to move back. Good luck with your decision!
  • @elksamm - that is so good to hear!!! The no state income tax is very enticing!

@fifilala516 - huge congrats on the NIPT results and baby girl!
  • How Far Along? 16 weeks today

Size of the Baby? Dill Pickle

Upcoming  Appointments? July 23rd just check in but next ultrasound August 18th for the 20 week ultrasound!

How are you feeling? good off and on tired. Still craving movie theater popcorn.

Size of the Baby? A peach I think

Upcoming  Appointments? Just had an appointment last week. Did all my bloodwork. 9 vials of blood pkis a UA. Next appointment t in 3 weeks

How are you feeling? Still nauseas and tired.

Rants/Raves? Just insurance issues still since I work for a competing hospital than my OB.

Questions? Any STM+ moms have to think about how far along you are? Like I actually habe to second guess which week it is. When someone ask3 I just habe to tell them between 14 and 16. Until i can think about it and give a more definite answer.

GTKY: What's Your Favorite TV Show?
Grey's Anatomy. Although I have staterd watching a series on serial killers stories. But had to stop watxhing before bed cauae it was giving me strange dreams aside from the pregnancy dreams.
  • @AshleyGemini24 Yes! I have definitely checked the app quite a few times since I found out I was pregnant to make sure what week I was on.
  • How Far Along? 13+5

Size of the Baby? Pokemon card I think

Upcoming  Appointments? Not for 6 weeks

How are you feeling? Still nauseous sometimes, but overall less tired.
It also helps that my toddler has started to sleep through the night again and until630 or 7 in the morning instead of 4am...

    Rants/Raves? Nope

Questions? I got the results of my NT and baby is at a higher risk of chromosomal abnormalities (based on my age (36) alone, risk is 1/208, my test results were 1/235, below the threshold of 1/350). So I had NIPT bloodwork taken yesterday morning.
I'm nervous and scared, and trying not to think the worst.
Can anyone share stories of similar situations? I know it's still a small chance, but I'm still nervous about the hard decisions we may have to eventually make if the NIPT comes back as high risk.

GTKY: What's Your Favorite TV Show?
Oh gosh. Hmmmmm favourite? Maybe GoT. I like some light sci-fi, fantasy, period pieces. Currently, I'm watching Jack Ryan, Yellowstone...and stared Sexy Beasts on Netlfix the other night. It's pretty dumb, but the makeup they're wearing is amazing. I just want to see what they look like without it!

@sarah_is_pregnant I’ll give you two examples from me, and the first is what I’m going through now, and the second is my best recollection of what happened last year.

Going into this current pregnancy, my risks for the trisomies pre and post NIPT are posted here, so unless I’m misunderstanding your situation, some of my risks were even greater than yours (although they vary based on the condition). My NT was normal (1.7) and the NIPT updated my risks to all low. What was your NT measurement? It looks the NT improved your risk? That sounds good. Let me know if I’m not understanding that correctly.

    TW: loss

I’ll go into this since you asked for experiences, but last year we had a pretty bad situation. I don’t recall specifics, probably because I blocked them out, but my NT was around 3.5, which made my risk for trisomies like 1 in 4 or something. NIPT confirmed that with a 95% or so accuracy, the baby had Down Syndrome. We ended up terminating. It sounds like your situation is nowhere near that bad, though. 1 in 235 is still very, very low, but I completely understand your fears.

I’ll say this: while at the time, the decision to terminate was an absolute nightmare, and I thought I’d never stop crying… I did stop. And I was able to move on a lot easier than I thought I could. That was just my situation of course, and everyone is different, but sometimes we can surprise ourselves with how resilient we can be.

  • @Lisa3379 the NT measurement was 1.8, so normal. The bloodwork must've been off to have brought the risk higher, but I don't know those numbers.
I'm cautiously hopeful that results from the NIPT will all be low risk.
I like that you can see the numbers associated with the risks in your results.
  • @sarah_is_pregnant I would try your best to relax. I wonder if the recommendation for NIPT has more to do with age (they recommended it to me with all of my pregnancies - my first was at age 34) than what your blood said. That would be my guess.
  • @Lisa3379 yes age definitely comes into play.
    I'm 36 currently.
With my first pregnancy at 34, the risk after the NT was <1:10000, so this is significantly different.
I'll be sweating through my pants with nervousness when I see the hospital calling.

    I sent you a PM.
