  • How far along are you? 23 + 3

Any new symptoms? Just heartburn that turns into nausea, he’s up right under my stomach most of the time and is super uncomfortable.

Any appointments recently or coming up? How did it go? Finally getting my second covid vaccine right then next ob appointment in a few weeks.

How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? 1 4yr old boy

How are your other kids doing this week? He’s good. The weather has been pretty nice so he’s been able to play outside most days

    Concerns/Questions:

GTKY: What one thing do you really want but can’t afford yet (not necessarily baby related)? I really want an in ground pool, but our backyard is not conducive for one, and they are so pricey.

  • How far along are you? 22 weeks 🤯

Any new symptoms? I can officially see baby kicking from the outside

Any appointments recently or coming up? How did it go? I never know when appointments are lol. I had my anatomy scan recently-ish and it went well :)

How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? 3 - 5,4,1

How are your other kids doing this week? Good! We’re in the middle of a big move and DH has been out of town for two weeks and he’s home today. They’re floating on air.

    Concerns/Questions:

GTKY: What one thing do you really want but can’t afford yet (not necessarily baby related)? I’m torn between live in maid and an backyard that looks something like this

@mayoduck I’m going for my third vbac. I’ve been awful about checking the bump lately but I’ll keep checking back to see if you have any questions for me. I’m by no means an expert because I only have my own experiences, but I’m happy to chat :)

  • @doodleoodle Oh, awesome! I might send you a DM at some point with questions about your personal experiences then, if you don't mind. This is the first time I'm going for a VBAC and mostly, while I'm sure it's what I want, the idea is still pretty nerve-wracking.  :#
  • @mayoduck send away! I was really nervous before my first one, too. Part of me even hoped baby would be breech so that I wouldn’t have a choice and I’d have to have a rcs. Chances are that you’ll do great!
  • How far along are you? 16 weeks to go.

    Any new symptoms? Nope

Any appointments recently or coming up? How did it go? On Thursday.

How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? 1

How are your other kids doing this week? She’s been good, hasn’t pestered me to take her out for the weather has been unbearably warm. We spent the whole week indoors, while we both shower several times a day: and oh, potty training has been shelved again.

Concerns/Questions: I’m very confused. Not sure if it’s the heat or the hormones

GTKY: What one thing do you really want but can’t afford yet (not necessarily baby related)? A cleaner to come in every week. Feel like a frivolous expense, considering how we budget out expenditure.

  • How far along are you? 21+1

Any new symptoms? Nada, just same old going well

Any appointments recently or coming up? How did it go? My AS last week went very well 😁

How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? DS, 21 months

How are your other kids doing this week? Omg he's been tantrum central out of nowhere. He has a hair line trigger about not being understood and we usually don't understand him because he can't really talk lmao 🤷🏾‍♀️ luckily it doesn't bother me too much

Concerns/Questions: what's your go to when your child is irrationally tantruming? I used to just take him outside for fresh air but that hasn't been working

GTKY: What one thing do you really want but can’t afford yet (not necessarily baby related)? I would love to afford to send my kids to french immersion schools... Technically we can afford it, but I could never willingly spend 30k on preK+ (unless someone else is paying lol)

@mayoduck I didn't have a VBAC but my best friend just had a really positive experience with it. Wishing you the best luck!

@doodleoodle ah that's a beautiful backyard 😭 if only if only

@sthlm_21 how old is your daughter? And if you don't mind me asking, why is potty training shelved? I've been thinking more and more about it, though I know we're prob far off from it
  • @marbellie deep breathing helps if you have a child that’s willing to participate. I like to pretend that we’re blowing up balloons. You let them “pick” their color, cup your hands together really small, and begin deep breathing, with each exhale expand your hands a little further apart as though you’re holding a balloon, until the balloon eventually “pops”. If you have more of a no nonsense kid then you can lightly press on their chest and back with open palms and deep breathe with them that way. If that doesn’t work, unfortunately in my experience, the only thing that eventually works is telling them you’ll speak to them when they can calm down and use their big boy voice and then go on about your day as though the tantrum isn’t happening. Once they’ve calmed down you can then tell them you’re proud of them for calming themselves down and speak to them in kid appropriate terms about healthy ways to manage emotions. It takes awhile to see improvement, but it does get better.
  • @marbellie Thank you, it's always nice to hear of a positive success story. My friend had a VBAC early this year but it had a number of complications that made it an awful experience and recovery for her 😕.
For tantrums, that sounds like about the age it started for my son too and similar reason. Often I think there's not much you can do because it's a development thing. It may not help deflate the tantrum in the moment because they are so upset, but I think it eases future tantrums over time to narrate what I observe happening like, "You want to build a tall tower and the blocks keep falling down. You feel frustrated. Would you like help?" Definitely can only say it if he isn't in a full on tantrum (so either if I can spot one coming on or after he's diffused some). After awhile he would start to say "I'm frustrated! I need help!" instead of going straight to tears. When they don't have the words yet, they tantrum because they don't know how else to express it. Of course, now my child is 2.5 and he has the words but tantrums because I understood him and my response was "no" so I'm on the hunt for a new tactic 😂 @doodleoodle I'll give that balloon blowing trick a try!
  • How far along are you? 24 + 5

Any new symptoms? Intermittent lower left abdomen stretching pain :/

Any appointments recently or coming up? How did it go? I had a follow-up ultrasound at MFM for a little heart arrhythmia that popped up last week. I decreased my caffeine intake the last week and it went away in the follow-up I had yesterday.

How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? 2 (this week) - 2yo, and husband with Man Flu

How are your other kids doing this week? Oh man, Arlo has been SO SICK since Sunday. He had a fever 6 days in a row, just broke last night. We went to the pediatrics ER on Thursday afternoon because he was worse and lethargic with a high fever. He was a little dehydrated, so they did a fluids IV, but otherwise couldn't help us. The doctors just said that the viruses kids are getting in daycare now are fierce and last a long time. When we got home from the hospital, I was changing him for bed and took his temperature - it was 103.5 and I just melted down. Emotionally and physically exhausted. Jeff caught whatever Arlo has, but doesn't have a fever...just stuffy and has a cough. Obviously, he's dying.

    Concerns/Questions: Meh.

GTKY: What one thing do you really want but can’t afford yet (not necessarily baby related)? A scientist in Jeff's department recently told him that battery-powered cars will be the norm for average families (not just upper class and wealthy people!) in the next few/several years. As much as we'd like to get one now, the market isn't great, so we're gonna wait until it's more competitive. Additionally, we'd like to get solar panels on our roof because we get killer southern sun exposure basically all day.

  • How far along are you? 23 + 3

    Any new symptoms? Nothing new

Any appointments recently or coming up? How did it go? Nope

How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? DS 5, DD 2

How are your other kids doing this week? They are pretty good. They're mostly getting along.

    Concerns/Questions: NA

GTKY: What one thing do you really want but can’t afford yet (not necessarily baby related)? We have been living the poor student life since 2013 so there are sooooo many things. One big thing that comes to mind is a new dining table! Our table is chipped and cracked everywhere and looks so awful and the chairs are stained.

  • @doodleoodle breathing with him or on his face even (lol) used to work, but not so far on this latest strain of tantrums... I'm going to keep trying though because it at least gives me something to do 😂 I like the balloon idea, I'll use that later for sure

@mayoduck talking about it more sounds good! And when the cause isn't evident or real (cough... Half the time) I'll just say "you're feeling frustrated/upset?"

@sliztee man that really sucks about DS's sickness. I'm glad the fever finally broke and hope you get a break soon (even if your husband is clearly ailing 🙄😂)

  • @marbellie At one point, Jeff said his eyeballs hurt and I snorted from laughing so hard.
