  • Month/Cycle: 14/1AL

    CD: 14

    WAYDTGKU: charting

R/R: I can't believe I'm already at CD14 - thankful the last couple of weeks have flown by. Excited for the weekend - no rain (finally!) and going to be seeing some friends who are moving away in the next few weeks (bittersweet :( ). Otherwise I start summer school for 2 weeks on Monday - which I'm kind of looking forward to just for some routine.

    CS/Q:

GTKY: What's your favorite season? Summer! The weather, the fact that I'm off work.. and we usually vacation in August. That makes it an automatic favorite for me!

@fameonmain2 summer is definitely a close second! Totally see why it’s your favorite! And I do love all the camping!

    Month/Cycle: 2/ 1AL

    CD: 6

    WAYDTGKU: benched this cycle

R/R: My work is seriously the worst. It’s so stressful and probably a huge contributor to my short luteal phases recently. Ugh. I got yelled at by no less than 4 clients today for things that have happened in the last week. I haven’t been there in 3 weeks… no one does their job, there’s no communication, it’s just so stressful. Ugh. And all the damn breeding clients. They make me want to slam my face into a wall repeatedly. 🤦🏼‍♀️
Anyways though, I went to take my temp vaginally today and realized I probably shouldn’t…? Right? If I’m not supposed to have sex until next week that would mean nothing in the vagina until then?
Also, meh. Still spotting. ☹️ When will this end?!?

    CS/Q:^^^

    GTKY: What's your favorite season?
100% Fall!! Summer used to be it but something about falling leaves, everything orange, sweater weather, pumpkins of all sizes, harvest, hot cider, soup and homey meals!!, and the spooky-ness have me sold. All year I’m literally dreaming of fall!
  • @fameonmain2 I feel you on the friends moving away piece. We had one ride or die couple that moved last weekend and another expecting to move in September. Making friends as an adult is hard and I'm not looking forward to getting that going again.

@paytonpedro sorry work has been tough :(

    Month/Cycle: 2/3

    CD: 5

    WAYDTGKU: bbt, cm, opk

R/R: Gotta give an anonymous shout out to my DH. I came downstairs during my class break last night and he had bought incense to try and create a more relaxing atmosphere after I lost my s*** on him about general life stress the day before. Not that I would've ever bought incense, but I was really touched by the creativity and thoughtfulness. That alone brought my anxiety down a few notches.

CS/Q: I hope this is an ok question; I'm still trying to feel out the board and want to be respectful of this incredible group. I've been using Clearblue Advanced Digital Ovulation tests because I thought avoiding some of the guess work would ease my anxiety but it's actually making me a little more paranoid not having a numerical result. I'm mostly not sure when to start testing given my cycle variability. The first time around I started testing on day 7 and got a peak on day 12 despite having a 33 day long cycle and spent the rest of the time convinced it gave a false peak. Unfortunately I wasn't temping yet, which I promptly corrected for the next cycle. The second time around I started testing on day 11 and never got a peak despite checking twice a day. Stopped testing on day 17 when my bbt went up the first day, but of course my cycle abruptly ended on day 19. In hindsight it makes sense I never got a peak since I likely didn't O. If my cycles over the last, say, 6 months vary from 27 - 37 days and average out to 33 days what I should use to judge when I start testing? The shortest cycle or the average cycle?

GTKY: What's your favorite season? I absolutely hate the cold so I'm going to go with summer. But I also really appreciate spring, mostly because it means no more cold.

@pinkkillersheep to get a feel for when you should test, I would start on day 7 and just keep testing until your peak goes away or your cycle starts. When I first started using OPKs I tested every single day until my period because I had no idea when my O day was or what it would look like. I use the cheapie wondfo ones, so the constant testing wasn't an issue monetarily.

@paytonpedro what's the reason for no sex? Is it just so the bleeding stops? You don't put the thermometer in too far, right, so I would say its ok if that's the reason.

@fameonmain2 I hear you on the routine-I'm thinking of starting one just because right now I have to think extra hard about what day it is and its throwing me off, lol. Some routine would be nice!

    Month/Cycle: 2/2

    CD: 17

    WAYDTGKU: CM, CP, OPK, temping.

R/R: I went sour cherry picking and to the beach today-and the beach wasn't the best. It was a fun day tho! And I picked two quarts of sour cherries in like, 20 minutes. I do need 8 quarts, so I'll go to the other sour cherry place when they open at the end of the month.

CS/Q: Waiting for temp drop to confirm O. All other signs point to O being today, but no drop yet. My temp has been the same for 4 days, and is only .1 different today because I took it a second time. Question-what setting do people who use FF use to pinpoint O? I don't get crosshairs yet if I use temping because no drop and three day rise, but I do get them if I use OPK.

GTKY: What's your favorite season? Summer? Less obligations, more fun spontaneous things to be done, and fresh produce! There's only a few months of beautiful fresh produce in VT, so I take full advantage!

  • @SmashJam I’m under the impression it’s for risk of infection? But maybe also because I’m still spotting and they want that to stop -although let’s be real here, I like having sex at the end of my period to get them to end quickly. So really that’s killing me. But yeah idk. I don’t put it in far but I don’t want to screw anything up 😬 it’s just until like Wednesday.
Sour cherries? I feel like I learn so much from this group about everything lol. So awesome that you picked so many so quickly! What do you need 8 qts for? And now I want cherries!

@pinkkillersheep i dont use cb opks so I’m sorry I can’t help you there. But kudos for your dh listening and doing something nice for you! That’s incredibly sweet!

I guess I’m the odd man out not choosing summer 😆

  • @paytonpedro prepandemic I froze 8 gallon bags of mixed fresh picked fruit-whatever berries I managed to pick for the season, but sour cherries, blueberries, and strawberries. It lasted me almost all year and was delish for smoothies and with yogurt. This year I didn't pick enough strawberries and just made jam(seasons over) so it'll be blueberries, cherries, and if I can gather my patience, raspberries. Picking raspberries sucks.

Also I didn't think about infection. But I would still think the thermometer doesn't go in far enough to make a difference. I'm not sure what I'd do!
  • *lurking, although i guess arguably i am waiting to "ovulate" in that i am aiming for an egg retrieval this week*
@pinkkillersheep, i understand the inclination to go with the good brand to avoid confusion with reading the opks, but in this case, you want to go cheap so you can have lots to play with and you won't feel bad about "wasting" a test if you decide to test early, late, or 2x (or 3x!) a day. lots of folks use wondfo, and there are other brands out there that others will no doubt recommend. There are also systems people love that allow you to photograph certain kinds of opks and get a "smart" reading based on the intensity of the line. I've never used those and personally opt for the perennially unpopular walgreens brand cheapies, mostly because i am familiar with them and they've always been consistent and easy for me to read (although now i'm trying to google them and i can't find any evidence that they actually sell them, lol. i hope i'm not hallucinating). Anyway, it might at first seem a little iffy trying to "read" the opk test result, but if you have any trouble at all, you can always poll folks over on the OPK help thread!
    History
I am doing this on my own. Left ovary and fallopian tube removed due to cyst/necrosis just after birth. Right ovary and tube still purport to function.
Began TTC in Aug '18 @ age 35
5 or 6 (or 7?!) cycles using frozen donor sperm, ICI. All BFN
    Mar-Jun '19 IUIs, all BFN
Began process of referral for RE in spring of '19, blood tests confirm low AMH (.54) but all else is good.
May '19 HSG shows open tube, but ultrasound suggests fibroids
MRI in June '19 confirms two large fibroids, one growing through wall of uterus
In June '19 I move from California to Oregon, disrupting my insurance, referrals, etc. 5 months spent piecing it all back together.
Nov. '19 attempted myomectomy (vaginal approach) failed. 2nd surgery using laparoscopic method in Jan '20 is successful.
April '20 --> June '20, natural IUIs, all BFN.
July? saline ultrasound and bubble test demonstrate open tube
July '20 clomid cycle cancelled for thin lining

Oct '21 somewhat improved AMH (.51) and significantly improved FSH (8.9). Maybe it's all the pills I swallow.
    Dec -21, standard antagonist. 225menupur/225gonal-f/cetrotide/5000u trigger, AFC 5; 11 days of stims. retrieval yields 5, 4M, 2 reach day-6 blast (4AB & 4BB). 1 low-level mosaic (chr. 3 deletion), 1 complex abnormal.

Sept '22 ER same protocol: AFC 10; 12 retrieved, 11 mature, 11 fertilized.
From the 3 retrievals, 7 survived to day 5-6 blastocyst, from which I have 2 normal embryos!
Jan 20, Fully medicated FET, baby aspirin, dexamethasone, acupuncture, and as much woo as I can stand (which isn't very much). BFN.
July 23, Natural FET + baby aspirin. BFN.
  • @smashjam that’s a really great idea! I’ve definitely frozen strawberries and blueberries, I used to put them in my water or smoothies or whatever. Totally hear you on raspberries. They’re just so fragile. In my backyard we have (what my grandma who knows everything refers to as) black raspberries. They’re a lot easier to pick and we have So. Many. So I usually freeze those too….. and have everyone I know over to pick them and take them. Lol
  • Month/Cycle: 6/2

CD: Day 3 of simulated cycle

    WAYDTGKU: letrozole

R/R: the letrozole hasn’t been bad so far except I was so so dizzy from it last night. I got up to pee and my husband legitimately had to help me get to the bathroom lol this weekend it’s mostly rained but we deep cleaned the house yesterday so everything is all nice and clean again. We have friends coming over tonight.

@SmashJam that’s so any cherries! What are you making?

@pinkkillersheep that’s sweet your husband is trying to help. I hope your able to relax this weekend.

@fameonmain2 are you vacationing this year? Where to?

@paytonpedro Im so sorry your having a rough time. I wish there was something better to say but I’m sending you internet hugs 💕 Fall is probably my second favorite btw I agree there’s something very relaxing about fall.
  • It's so busy here for a weekend!! :)

@paytonpedro I think if you are keeping everything clean you're probably good for temping vaginally - and hopefully the spotting stops soon! Mine was until about CD8. So sorry about your work situation - I dealt with a similarly stressful work environment this past year. There's nothing great about it, especially for TTC. Have you been there long?

@pinkkillersheep I know we are bummed about it. One is a couple we have been friends with since college and the other is a work friend ... they're both only moving between 2-3 hours away so we will be seeing each other and keeping in touch, but it's such a bummer they won't be so close! On your CBAD question.... did you take a pregnancy test and it was negative for the 33 day cycle? I personally prefer CBAD but it's pretty clearly lined up with my temp shift and what the cheapies showed when I tested with those before. OPKs stress me out for some reason so I like CBAD bc I have to test less with it.

@smashjam sour cherries sound yummy! I use the FAM method with FF. Wondering why you need the drop before the rise - is that just normal for you?

@daisy0322 sitting down and relaxing in the house after I deep clean is my favorite thing. Hope you enjoy having your friends over tonight and glad the letrozole hasn't been *too* bad. We are not vacationing this year, unfortunately. Between pandemic and the pay cut I'm taking (and the four upcoming weddings) it's just not in the budget...
  • @fameonmain2 it is typical for me-but I also thougth I read somewhere that you need a drop and then a rise to confirm O. Maybe I'm wrong about that. Either way it looks like I'll get my crosshairs tomorrow if I get one more raise in temp!

@daisy0322 I'm just going to freeze them with other berries I pick throughout the summer for really great yummy smoothies all year!

  • Thanks for all the feedback. @SmashJam and @optimistgardener have good points about going with the cheap option to understand my cycle better. I inherited a bunch of cheap opks from a coworker who got KU'd quickly and had a ton leftover. Realistically just knowing myself I will probably end up benchmarking five different tests against each other and charting them all out :#

@fameonmain2 I tested on CD 25 and 32 and they were negative. I definitely like the simplicity of CBAD, and I think I would've felt significantly better about it had I been temping. But I still think CD 12 is awfully early for as long as my cycles usually are.
  • @pinkkillersheep you would not be the first woman to undertake such an experiment! And I heartily approve of transforming your cycle into a one-woman study. You'll be comfortable reading the tests in no time flat. (Also, I think there's a good argument to be made for not having to buy all those plastic casings for each individual test, but that's just me.)

  • @fameonmain2 are you teaching summer school? If so, what do you teach?

@paytonpedro that sounds awful, I'm sorry you've been having such a rough time at work! I think it would be fine to temp vaginally bc if you're on pelvic rest that shouldn't affect it.

@pinkkillersheep that's so sweet of YH! Last time around I used to start doing OPKs as soon as my period ended just in case. I use the cheap ones so I don't feel bad using them earlier and as I got closer to my typical ovulation day I would do them twice a day.

@SmashJam are you planning to make something with the cherries? Sorry the beach wasn't as much fun as you'd hoped!

@daisy0322 yikes about the dizziness! Do you have low blood pressure?

    Month/Cycle: 1/1

    CD: 1 (womp)

WAYDTGKU: OPK, charting CM, maybe temping?

R/R: So our month of NTNP didn't magically pan out (shocker) but I am excited to be actually starting for real. I ordered a box of OPKs today and I'm debating if I want to temp this time. This upcoming weekend is my last weekend at my job and I am SO EXCITED to get out of there. The management is terrible and people have been quitting left and right for months. I'm staying at the same hospital, just transitioning to my RN position and I kind of want to stand back with some popcorn and watch my old department crash and burn. Terrible, I know, but it's their own doing unfortunately.

CS/Q: None yet, I need to break out my copy of TCOYF for a refresher though

GTKY: What's your favorite season? Fall!! I love all of the pumpkin stuff and the cool weather and I think fall has the cutest clothes! And the boots!!!

  • @pinkkillersheep that is so strange! Definitely agree that cd12 would be way too early in that case.

@smashjam TCOYF rules are just a .2 degree temp rise over your last temp and .1 above your last 6 temps so you should be good!

@shortstack930 I am! 2 weeks of English. Exciting about transitioning to your new job!!!
  • @shortstack930 no it’s the fertility meds I’m on causing it. I’m always in favor of temping btw you can learn SO much. The only reason I’m on is because on my simulated cycles it doesn’t matter
  • @fameonmain2 I really need to read that-I didn't realize the rises could be so little! Thanks for that clarification!
