Weekly Check-in: July 4th Holiday Edition

edited July 2021 in February 2022 Moms
I don't know if we decided on an "official" day to start the group check-in, so I don't want to go so far as to say that this is late... lol

Re: Weekly Check-in: July 4th Holiday Edition

  • How far along are you?: Well, I just went in for my first prenatal and they are going off of my LMP and are putting my due date at Jan 31st. My US put me at Feb 2nd DD. So I'm sticking with my original EDD of Feb 1. The average :) Hope you guys don't mind a possible January being in this group. So, I'm 10 weeks 2 days.

    Upcoming appointments: in 4 weeks!

How are you feeling?: All the symptoms, lol. Luckily B6 and Unisom are helping my nausea.

    Rants/Raves: None right now!

    Questions: None :)

GTKY: What is your favourite summertime treat / activity? I usually LOVE ice cream. But I have no desire for sweets (luckily fruit is still a go). So watermelon, pineapple are my faves. Summer is my least favorite season, but I do enjoy a good cool hike if the weather cooperates.

  •
How far along are you?: 9 weeks

Upcoming appointments: 10w scan and first MW appointment next week

How are you feeling?: Very, very sore, and exhausted!

Rants/Raves: We went to the playground two days in a row since I'm off work this week, and DD had so much fun. BG is impossible to keep from eating sand, tho! lol It's making me seriously want to go ahead and give notice so I can just be home with them and free to go out and do fun activities together. The moms group from Church takes the kids to the splash park every other week, there are ballet and traditional dance classes starting up in the fall that DD is finally old enough to participate in, etc... I feel like last year got kind of messed up since I got the be home with DD while waiting for BG, but we couldn't go out and do anything. So I woke up this morning feeling like maybe this year could be a "do-over" where we actually get to make the fun memories doing things together just us (three) before the new baby comes in February. I think it'll be nice being super pregnant over the winter as well, have the baby, and then by the time the weather is warming up again, s/he will be big enough that we can all go out and do things a little easier, BG should be walking well and able to do stuff, too. Being stuck in the house chained to my computer is really kind of a drag, and I know DH would be supportive, he's just waiting for me to pull the plug.

Questions: Do any of you ladies WFH just part time? What kind of situation do you have? I am curious about having something I can do from home, but just make my own hours i.e. work during nap time, or get up early and get it out of the way, rather than be tied to a set 40 hr schedule. I saw an ap called Jobble? And I know a lady who does freelance call center work from home? I would love to make or create something I could sell online, but I don't know the first thing about setting up an online store. Like maybe some kind of teaching materials or something...? IDK

GTKY: What is your favourite summertime treat / activity? Italian Ice just says summer to me! And those red white and blue rocket pops. Of course watermelon is a staple this time of year! I would love to be at the beach more regularly, but body image issues, plus the far distance and traffic etc. have all made that not sound like quite as much fun lately. Hoping we can all kind of get over it this summer and get DD out to her first real visit to the BEACH! Back in my skinnier single days, I used to love just lounging by the pool withe a beverage lol

  • @lexilougolden Oh I hear you on the heat. It was so nice the other night, it actually cooled off and was perfect weather to be hanging out outside and walking around. Especially now!? I think I must run hot when I'm pregnant, so I have really been enjoying soaking up the AC lol
  • How far along are you?: 7w5d. 2/18 due date

Upcoming appointments: I just had my first phone call with the nurse this morning. Mainly just to confirm my history and answer any questions. I was able to clear up some outstanding questions from my last delivery. (I developed bell's palsy at 38 weeks and was hospitalized and induced for *possible* pre-eclampsia. I swear that the tests all came back negative but somebody put in my file that I have a history of pre-eclampsia. The nurse went back into my hospital records and confirmed that I'm not crazy and did not actually have pre-eclampsia so I feel vindicated :D ). My first in-person appointment will be two weeks from tomorrow.

How are you feeling?: Can't complain. Nausea comes and goes and I'm definitely fatigued but I haven't felt well rested in 3 years now so it's manageable.

Rants/Raves: Maybe a combo Rant/Rave. It's so weird actually having social plans again this summer after the shitshow of last year. I love being able to see my friends again but it's also hard going back to having all my summer weekends booked months in advance. There was something kind of fun last year about having to find our own off-the-beaten-path adventures as a family.

    Questions:

GTKY: What is your favourite summertime treat / activity? I am not a hot weather person at ALL but I do love my ice cream and watermelon!

  • @lexilougolden In my Nov18 group we had some Oct babies (including mine), Nov babies, and some Dec ones! They were all so spread out, I think it's inevitable. Also we like you, so stick around!!

@BusinessWife I don't know the first thing about starting up anything, but that does sound dreamy. I would love to WFH and run my own thing, but I also tend to need the structure of a 9-5.

How far along are you?: 7 weeks today!

Upcoming appointments: I have my first appt tomorrow. They will confirm pregnancy, get medical history and schedule the first ultrasound. I am hoping that they will be able to schedule it pretty soon, so fingers crossed on that!

How are you feeling?: Meh. I am pretty tired and sore. I broke out the pregnancy pillow, so I have been sleeping better which is a huge relief, but DH has already complained about the pillow and it's been less than a week. :| I haven't had much of an appetite at all, which is also a little worrisome, but I plan to talk to the MW about that tomorrow.

Rants/Raves: My big rant is work. I got a new boss a few months ago and it's been nothing but problems since. I am hoping that it will turn around soon, but at the very least I can't wait until I can announce at work so that I can get a little heat taken off me. I almost slipped today to my Superintendent, but was thankfully able to keep my mouth shut.

Questions: None that I can think of.

GTKY: What is your favourite summertime treat / activity? I love the beach. Also not so great for pregnancy, but I love a good summer drink, like Twisted Tea or Truly, while on the beach or my back patio at night. Last pregnancy DH emptied some Twisted Tea cans and put non-alcoholic Arnold Palmer into them, so it felt like an actual drink, and that was super sweet of him.

  • @BusinessWife It's supposed to be 103 today, so pretty sure I'm not going to see outside at all today :D I WFH PT and I'm a Real Estate Marketer. I do a lot of social media, branding, client appreciation events/gifts, etc. As I do this, I realize that there are so many companies that need someone like this to man their social media and have relative content. I bet I could easily add on a few more companies but after having a very stressful previous job and going through a lot of family changes/growth, I'm good with my easy going schedule!
@kaf1788 I'm glad you got the record straight! I agree, it's hard to navigate a more social world now (especially being an introvert). I loved the quality time I had with DH and SS.
@tessiesmom26 Aww, thanks-- I'll stay! I figured that we will be all over the place with our actual birthing dates, so what's one day? Yay for your first appt tomorrow! Exciting!
  • How far along are you?: 8w6d

Upcoming appointments: I have an appointment next Tuesday. It's my first one with the OB and I forgot to ask if they'll be an u/s since I had one with my RE a few weeks ago. I just know I'm supposed to come ready to pee.

How are you feeling?: Tired, nauseous, and always hungry. Emotionally, I'm feeling less anxious.

Rants/Raves: We're moving into our new house tomorrow, and there is still so much to do to get ready. I felt horrible yesterday, and ended up sleeping all day. I'm feeling better today, so hopefully I have the energy to help get everything done.

    Questions: nope

GTKY: What is your favourite summertime treat / activity? I would say ice cream, but I'll go get ice cream even when it's below zero out, so it's more of a favorite year round treat. Summer specifically would be all the fruits that are now in season. Favorite activity would be being in the water, whether it be the pool, lake, river, or a trip to the ocean.
  • How far along are you?: 10w

Upcoming appointments: NT u/s on 7/19, 12w appt on 7/23; hoping to schedule other NIPT between then and now

How are you feeling?: mostly just tired, now that the nausea is letting up some. these mood swings are no joke. it is all starting to feel more real, but now I'm in this limbo of waiting to really feel/look PG

    Rants/Raves:

Rant - I hate feeling like I have to hide and manage being PG to fit in with everyday life. IDGAF about anything else right now and I hate that I have to show up. I don't want to care about anything else right now. I want to be at home and get cozy in my little PG cocoon and re-emerge after the 4th trimester XD

Rave - MH is getting better about figuring out how to support me, which is nice. Mostly it's grabbing cravings or giving snuggles. Both are great :)

    Questions: none

GTKY: What is your favourite summertime treat / activity? Right now, my favorite treat is those mickey ice cream sandwiches from target.

  • @lexilougolden that extra B6 is no joke! that's been the only thing keeping me at nausea and not vomiting tbh
@businesswife mmmm Italian ice, that's a really good treat :) I feel you on the part time job thing.
@kaf1788 the re-emergence after covid is definitely wild and there's no right way to do it, it's especially hard being first trimester PG <3
@tessiesmom26 excited for your appointment!! :)
@effie0513 moving is such a headache, can't believe that's tomorrow for you! can't wait to hear about how you feel all settled in.
  • @chgilmore DH found one of those Mickey bars while cleaning our freezer this weekend and it was the best day ever! I love those!

  • How far along are you?: 8+2

    Upcoming appointments: 7/20

How are you feeling?: the nausea is present but manageable

    Rants/Raves: natm

    Questions: natm

GTKY: What is your favourite summertime treat / activity? Watermelon is my favorite treat and activity? I △⃒⃘lways enjoyed themeparking since we could only do it in the summer in the Midwest. But now that’s an all year activity now that I’m in Florida. 💜

  • @angelz429 Ohhh, I love a good amusement park. I used to live in Ohio next to Cedar Point and I miss rollercoasters! :)
  • How far along are you?: 7 weeks today

Upcoming appointments: Next Wednesday at 8 weeks

How are you feeling?: Good. Very tired but otherwise feeling great right now.

Rants/Raves: (rant) DH and I decided decided be team green for this last pregnancy, but then my best friend ordered the sneak peek test so of course I ordered the sneak peek test (neither of our husbands know) and she did hers yesterday and mailed it in, but I obviously can't do mine yet. Amd I don't want to! I'm just so easily influenced! 🤦‍♀️ I told her I'm bringing her my test and she can do it so I'm not tempted.

    Questions: not yet!

GTKY: What is your favourite summertime treat / activity? Combination treat and activity- bloody marys on the boat. We live a couple of miles from the Mississippi River and there is nothing better than boating and bloodys.

  • How far along are you?: 7w1d

Upcoming appointments: Not until August, it's a long wait

How are you feeling?: Meh right now. I have been forcing myself to bed early every night to try and curb the exhaustion. I'm starting to get extremely sore breasts, they just ache. Emotionally I'm doing well, just patiently taking it day by day.

Rants/Raves: Rant = work, always work. I told my girlfriends I needed a new job today and they all agreed. Problem is that I don't want to leave and do something completely different only to go on leave shortly after. I've been weighing out options to do from home but nothing makes sense in my salary range. DH stays at home so I have to find something to support us both. Ugh. Rave = the floors we did are fully finished and they are beautiful!!! So excited to check it off the extensive to do list.

    Questions:nope

GTKY: What is your favourite summertime treat / activity? Going up north, sitting around the fire or by the lake, hanging out with my extended family, just relaxing away from it all. I missed it this year due to work :( (see rant).

How far along are you?: 8w6d

Upcoming appointments: Family doc for a Pap/get my NT scan referral while I was for MFM to call with my first appt I also have my NIPT Panorama booked. So excited we’ll know boy or girl in like two weeks!

How are you feeling?: Pretty good noticed a difference when I got to reduce my estrogen last week this pregnant again has been a couple weeks of mega fatigue but I’m already feeling that ease up

Rants/Raves: I told work I’d be willing to talk about staying on Part Time vs take Parental Leave for 32 weeks after the 17 week Pregnancy Leave but now…I don’t think I want to lol so once I’m officially in the second trimester I think we’ll be discussing a replacement for a 12m leave

Questions: None really at this point

GTKY: What is your favourite summertime treat / activity? Going up to my family Cottage in Muskoka for sure.

  • @JWatt5 sooooo jealous of your 12 month leave 😍😍 I feel so incredibly privileged to have 18 weeks. I wish the US would get it’s act together with parental leave!
  • @gardenvariety88 WHAT that is wild! I hope you get some actual clear answers soon, maybe a different dr if that's a possibility? 2nd/3rd opinions and all that?
@JWatt5 sooooo envious of your 12m leave but that is amazing!!! a big thing to plan for but definitely a good thing
  • @gardenvariety88 my mind is blown that they labeled you high risk and going through all those extra precautions. My DD was also born at 34+6 and my midwife seemed un-phased when we went over my first appointment times. Although, I don't know if that would change if I went to a hospital provider. I think it may be worth other opinions until you find a provider who aligns with the same things you do.

  • @angelob88 that is really interesting and honestly makes me even more confused. I am going through a hospital provider so I guess that could be the difference. Its just hard to wrap my head around all this crisis planning when DS was in the NICU for five days mostly for jaundice and has no health concerns otherwise. I don't really like this idea of randomly throwing stuff at a wall to see what sticks without having an actual idea of what the problem/solution is.

I at least called and asked them to hold off on submitting any requests for the injections until I can talk to the doctor in person...
  • @JWatt5 my husband is Canadian. His friends all thought it was ridiculous that we had our kids in the states because of the appalling expenses and (lack of) parental leave. And here we go again…

How far along are you?: 8+2

Upcoming appointments: 7/14 first OB visit

How are you feeling?: A bit queasy, but the B6 helps so much. And so ravenous but also can’t eat much at a time.

Rants/Raves: Just got back from almost a week vacation, so nice to get away@JWatt5 work and outside with the family. And also summer evening ice cream.

    Questions: none

GTKY: What is your favourite summertime treat / activity? Going to the beach with the kids. And fresh local strawberries are the best. And in non-pg times, summer is white wine on the porch season.

@Katzalia - it’s where you live! If the US is home there’s where you build. I’ve heard other Canucks say to duel citizens “why wouldn’t you just come back to CAN to have kids” like it’s just that easy lol. 🙄
