This is a big one for me 😂. I haven't even told my last BMB about it. I recently picked Mac and Cheese up off the floor at a restaurant and still gave it to my toddler to eat. I was alone and was not about to deal with a screaming toddler. I tried really hard to only grab what hadn't touched the ground (since it fell in a big plop), but still 😬.
Another is that I don't really listen to all the you can't eat this or that pregnancy stuff. I am still eating sushi, lunch meat, soft cheeses, etc. I'm not drinking through. I actually like using being pregnant as an excuse not to drink for the most part.
@kgg2241 I’m the same way with some eating things. I still eat deli meat and don’t overly regulate my caffeine. The deli meat and sushi risk is only around food poisoning. I feel like if I’ve never had an issue in 34 years, what are the odds in the next 8 months? I did get awful for poisoning once from produce, yet that isn’t on the avoid list. SMH
FFFC: I kicked a dog toy into our newish stainless steel refrigerator this week, it dented the bottom. DH saw it for the first time yesterday and got upset... I didn't tell him it was me. @kgg2241 5 second rule on the mac and cheese! I saw a portable pacifier UV sterilizer at Target the other day... what ever happened to just popping it into your own mouth after it falls on the floor and putting it back in the baby's? I also eat pretty much whatever I want during pregnancy, with the exception of overdoing high mercury level fish. I'll eat lunch meat, sushi, soft cheeses to my hearts content.
@kgg2241 Same...to all of it. I definitely let my kids eat food that's hit the ground. I also enjoy eating what I want. I could go for a big glass of wine though.
@smoresdoeuvres I’m with you! I would love a big glass of wine or a margarita. So much extra stress and a glass of wine would be so nice in the evenings
FFFC: I've told my best friends and gym buddies about my pregnancy before my own mother. To be fair, she's been traveling a lot since I found out, so the opportunity hasn't really presented itself, but I still feel a little guilty about it for some reason. DH would rather we kept it a secret from everyone until 12 weeks...but with this being our 4th he should probably know by now that I'm the worst at keeping quiet. 😂
FFFC: since I’ve had some (I assume pregnancy related) insomnia I’ve been sleeping in our guest room. I’m definitely milking that excuse more often than is reeeeally necessary because having a bed to myself is so nice.
FFFC: First date night with DH since I had the crazy pregnancy bloat start. This means it is also the first time I’ve had to put on jeans. I told him that they still fit. Secretly I left the button undone and covered it with a tank top to compensate for the bloat.
+1 for giving my son food that's been on the ground, +1 for eating deli meat and soft cheeses, and +1 for telling my friends I'm pregnant before my family. I'm good at keeping other people's secrets, but I am godawful at keeping secrets of my own.
A few new UOs: I don't like vanilla. If it's just one ingredient in a baked good that's fine, but anything that tastes strongly of vanilla is gross to me. I also don't like potato chips or popcorn. Not enough flavor, they just seem like a waste of space to me. Also potatoes: they're the worst starch. Served fried they're tasty enough, but that's because oil is tasty. Almost anything else fried is better.
@jlbaker08 loved my belly band with my daughter, it kept me in normal pants until like 25 weeks! This time around it seems to accentuate the bloated belly more than I’d like. Don’t want to draw any more attention to that than necessary, so I’ll be living in looser dresses this summer!
+1 for telling a friend before family! We have only told 2 people so far. (a husband and wife, Called them yesterday.) She was there with me when our son was born. Then they moved across the country.
They are now planning to come back for 2 weeks around my due date so she can be with us again! (Hopefully. Off hospitals allow 2 by then).
Also for eating foods you're not supposed to...I learned last week that apparently soft ice cream is on the no no food list. But I'm sure I'll be risking that one haha.
Yes to telling a friend first! I told @gembud before anyone, then SO a few hours later. Not planning on telling anyone else unless we get a good ultrasound and NIPT under our belts.
