Weekly randoms 7.5.2021

Hope you guys had a great 4th!

Re: Weekly randoms 7.5.2021

  • Hope you had a good 4th too @photographerwife!

We have been working on remodeling our house little by little the last 3ish years (still living in the era of orange shag carpet unfortunately). DH and I took the day yesterday and got over half of the new flooring installed in our lower level. It looks amazing already and I can't wait to get home to see it finished. He said it would be done while I was at work today so we shall see when I get home.

  • We’re on our second little vacation after our big family vacation at the end of June.

We try to go to St. Augustine every year for the 4th. So we’re here until tomorrow.
  • Our 4th was anticlimactic. We went to a pool party, which was already awkward, with people we don't know very well (also awkward), and everyone was drinking and kept trying to get me to drink despite the fact that I repeatedly said I just want water. So I'm spending today at home hanging out by myself to try and get some relaxation in before back to work tomorrow.
@angelob88 can't wait to hear what it looks like all done!
@angelz429 that sounds like a lovely vacation, that part of FL is very nice :)
  • I am also working on remodeling part of our new apartment so my weekend was filled with boring house tasks like walking around crowded floor stores...but it will be so nice once it's all done (I keep telling myself).

Does anyone have recommendations for pregnancy books? I downloaded some of the apps, but was hoping to find a good book to follow along week per week...
  • @smithaus The only pregnancy book I actually read with my son was Expecting Better by Emily Oster which I really liked (but I am also a huge data nerd and looking for any excuse to still drink coffee  :D ) I also got What to Expect When You're Expecting which really has it all covered but I think I petered out on that one by second trimester. Definitely a me problem and not a book problem though.
  • @smithaus Not sure if you are spiritual/religious at all, but I really liked, "Made for This."  It's actually really comprehensive and came across to me as having a lot of very practical guidance.  So while it may be written springing from a spiritual foundation, it's not at all hokey or hocus pocus, if that makes any sense.  lol  There is just so much there; I plan to re-read it this time around.

  • Our holiday was pretty low-key as well.  DH had a men's group thing in the morning, and by the time he got back it was the hottest part of the day, so I didn't much want to take the girls out right then.  He fell asleep on the couch, and then when everybody woke up, we got the girls dressed and went to the playground.  :)  They have a huge sandbox area, so DD and I made sandcastles, baby got to feel her first sand (and try to eat it lol) and she had a blast running around doing the slide and the swings etc.  It was pretty cool to see her doing even the biggest slide all by herself this time and not needing any encouragement or support.  Then we got tacos and ice cream and made our way home.  It was pretty much a perfect evening, but DH was all crabbed up that it happened on the later side.  I tried not to point out that if he had skipped his men's thing.... or not passed out on the couch the minute he got home.... I guess I am way more laid back about our schedule or whatever, that stuff doesn't bother me.  I wish he wouldn't get so hung up and be complaining the whole time because of it, because honestly, it was a super nice way to spend some quality family time, imho. :D
  • Thank you so much @kaf1788 & @BusinessWife for the recommendations - they sound awesome and will check them out.
  • @kaf1788 THANK YOU for the reminder about the Nordstrom anniversary sale!  In college I worked at Nordstrom in the summers and I am now a devout anniversary sale shopper :)
  • Happy Anniversary!  Hopefully 2021-2022 is infinitely better for us all! :)
  • @alylove11 I'm sorry they can't seem to be flexible and see you a little sooner.  I know it must be hard wanting to see that reassurance.  Have you tried any of those pregnancy meditation type podcasts?  Maybe something like that could help ease your anxiety and help you tap into a sense of peace that everything is going to be okay?  (((hugs)))  In the meantime, we are here to vent all you need to. <3
  • Happy Anniversary @angelz429

I'm sorry @alylove11. The wait seems so long. ❤ Hopefully this next week flies by for you and you get a glimpse of a perfectly healthy sticky baby next Wednesday.
  • @BusinessWife and @modoodles thank you so much for your support, it means a lot! ❤️ My husband doesn’t quite get it, and the only other people  who know are my parents. I don’t want to open my mouth to anyone  about being pregnant until a confirmed heartbeat. A coworker just asked me if I’m with child. 🤣 I had to lie because I’m not ready to tell, she thinks I’m going to do a pregnancy test next Wednesday.

  • @alylove11 I missed from before that you are hetero Factor V, so am I. All the hugs and love your way. When will you be starting shots?

  • @lexilougolden Congratulations!

    @angelz429 Happy Anniversay!

  • @livingoffpbjs I actually started when I got a BFP. You? I’m also on progesterone 200mg, I had to start that 2 days post ovulation. I asked if I needed to start lovenox then, but my OB didn’t think it was necessary.

  • @alylove11 Since Ive never had a clot I dont take the injections until after I give birth, then just the 6 weeks of shots. I take baby aspirin starting at 12 weeks.

@tessiesmom26 So actual podcast wise, there is one that I love which is the Fear Free Pregnancy Podcast.
    <a rel="nofollow" href="https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fear-free-childbirth-podcast-with-alexia-leachman/id975885013" title="Link: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fear-free-childbirth-podcast-with-alexia-leachman/id975885013">https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/fear-free-childbirth-podcast-with-alexia-leachman/id975885013</a>

Some meditations I have found on Youtube, and there are lots out there!  So you may have to poke around to find one that resonates with you. <3  Some are just music based, others have actual spoken guided meditations as well.

I apologize, I am having an impossible time with Youtube, it keeps playing ads I can't skip, so I can't preview things I would like to.  This is just one example of a video about releasing anxiety during pregnancy, though of a lady who has a whole yoga channel.
    https://youtu.be/NJN_f9M9jWQ

Feel free to share any you come across that you particularly like!  ETA I personally don't always prefer yoga-based stuff, so I will share some others I find going forward if I find some I can recommend specifically.
  • @alylove11 another progesterone and lovenox mama here.

I’m also on hydroxychloroquine and 2 baby aspirin

I am factor V hetero too, but that wasn’t part of the discussion of why I needed to be on it - it’s because of my CHI loss last pregnancy. They did the work up after my loss. But I guess I’ll ask about if I would have needed to be on it anyway.
  • I know it’s been said before, but this board is quiet.

    Like really quiet.

Which is great for staying caught up. But I looked at other month boards for other sites and there are literally hundreds of people on there 😳

wonder why the bump isn’t as popular
  • @angelz429 I think part of it is because TB has more rules and regulations and it's more community focused. I've checked on some other groups on Peanut and WTE and they're more individually focused (ie - people just popping up for questions that pertain to themselves instead of really getting to know the other people on the board), as well as more free, so there are a lot of content/trauma/trigger issues, IMO
  • @angelz429 yeah! definitely some of the reasons I'm still here. like I tried Peanut to try and meet local mom friends, but the Feb 2022 due date group was just full of the same questions and posts cluttering up any meaningful discussion (ie - "is this test positive" w/ pictures, "does this look like spotting should I be worried" w/ pictures, etc)
  • @livingoffpbjs interesting. I have never had one (not that I have known or been diagnosed). I’ve had 2 US’s in my legs thinking I had them but they came back clear.

Once I got diagnosed with FVL, I was told to see a hematologist to see what I needed to do. At age 21, nothing needed to be done so I just lived like normal. Once I became pregnant, my OBGYN called the hematologist and he said shots until 6 weeks post partum but that also was when I was pregnant in 2012. I had another baby in 2016 and 4 losses since then. My OB said lovenox for now but said potentially doing aspirin only. I’m too scared to that with my previous losses.

@angelz429 interesting! And I agree that this board is quiet. My Oct13 board was busy and June16 was decent. They were a bit more hostile, they screen shot or saved one of my posts in case I deleted? I don’t remember what I asked, something about FVL or GD.

So my Oct13 group went to FB after the babes were born, and it exploded after a year or so. It divided in 2 groups, and now there are 3. I’ve met a lot of moms there, I’ve gone to Nashville twice for a mom’s weekend, it was so fun!

@alylove11 I love my Aug12 bmb. We migrated to FB and have meetups regularly. Still have 65+ women in our group! One of them was in my wedding a couple of years ago. ❤

My random- I let someone watch my 1 year old for the second time today. I've never been a hovering mama, but covid+ working from home meant we haven't really done anything to need a sitter. And the one time I did hire a teenager, she said he cried almost the entire couple of hours (4 months old) and he refused the bottle. He hasn't been good about taking a bottle ever, and I'm trying to wean. We are down to 2x a day right now, which is a miracle! Oh! And he did great today, no crying at all- took a great nap with no crying when he went down. He ate food at lunch time but refused milk from a cup and from a bottle. He's just so stubborn about the milk!
  • @angelz429 @alylove11 there’s a Facebook group called factor v Leiden and pregnancy, it’s been great to hear others experiences but also scary, just a warning if you guys want to join.
