Re: Weekly Check-In 7/1

  • How far along are you?: 11w5d

Upcoming appointments: July 12 for NT scan/NIPT bloodwork

How are you feeling?: Definitely pregnant - I've popped! My boobs are still killing me and while I'm still having some food aversions/smell sensitivity, it's definitely waned, thank goodness!

Rants/Raves: I'm on vacation from work for the next week, so I'm happy. Rant...I have to take the cats to the vet tomorrow for a checkup and it's supposed to rain. I also don't want to pack (see "4th of July" plans).

Questions: When did you ladies "pop" with your first pregnancy, if this is your second child+?

GTKY: Any plans for the 4th of July (if you're in the U.S.)? We're renting a beach house in Rhode Island with some friends. I'm really looking forward to it!

  • How far along are you?: 13w5d (Hello 2nd trimester!! 😁)

Upcoming appointments: 7/27 for my 16 week check (but I'll actually be 17w3d). They'll also start monitoring my cervical length, which means another u/s - yay!

How are you feeling?: Finally feeling pretty good. I don't have much of an appetite still. I've been finding myself craving Cashew Chicken from our local Chinese restaurant, which is interesting because I've had a complete aversion to meat, but especially chicken. 🤔 I keep thinking that *maybe* I'm feeling baby from time to time, but realistically I know it's still really early. I was pretty sure I could feel my son at 15ish weeks, and was certain by 17 weeks, so hopefully in the next month I'll feel more movement.

Rants/Raves: Rave - as much as I'm not really wanting to do camp this summer, things are coming together. I'll be glad when it's all over. Also, we picked out a new couch, recliner, dresser for my son, and console table on Monday and I am so excited. We also picked out really plush new carpet! Instead of moving, we're upgrading what we can.

Rant- we decided we're having a garage sale next Friday. And as much as it was my idea, and as badly as I want all of the extra stuff gone - I don't want to do the work to get ready for the sale, lol!

Questions: Where are you all getting your maternity clothes? I apparently didn't save much from my first pregnancy. I shopped pretty much exclusively from Old Navy, but I'm not a fan of their styles this go around. (Maybe it'll be better this fall when all the summer stuff is done.) Not wanting to spend much at all.

GTKY: Any plans for the 4th of July (if you're in the U.S.)? We're going to my IL's on Sunday for lunch and then to a friend of ours to watch fireworks. She lives across the street from the show and it's amazing every year. Then Monday we're all doing a family day at the amusement park.

@fifilala516 I'm glad you're starting to feel better! I popped at about 17-18weeks with my first. I definitely have a little bump now, but I don't think I look pregnant, just pudgy.  Last night though my son commented that my tummy was getting SOOO BIG. Lol!  Maybe next Wednesday we'll have to start HDBD here.

  • @magalina_h I've gotten some nice stuff at Motherhood Maternity, they had a sale. I also do Stitchfix because I don't pay the styling fee but I find their stuff is hit or miss. I've recently started up Rent the Runway again after going on hiatus from it since I didn't have to go to the office. They have cute maternity stuff and I just size up the non-maternity stuff.
  • @fifilala516 with my first I didn’t pop until after 20 weeks. Now with third baby I have a noticeable bump before 13 weeks

    @magalina_h I got a lot from Motherhood
Maternity, JoJo Maman, Pink Blush, and Target!

How far along are you?: 12w6d

    Upcoming appointments: mid July

How are you feeling?: still nauseated but having and easier time eating thankfully, I also “popped” big time this week. My waist is almost 3” bigger than it was a week ago lol (I sew clothes so I measure myself frequently...not just randomly obsessed with knowing my measurements)

Rants/Raves: my week has been a total cluster and I’m so behind on so many things. But my kids have been loving outside playtime and it’s so much easier at my moms house because she has a fence and the little one can’t run into the road. Inside they are up my butt all the time but outside they entertain themselves pretty well and that is a big big win in my book.

Questions: Are you doing any digital appointments? I have the option of doing my next two virtually and it’s honestly easier with not having to have my mom take care of my kids, but idk if I would rather just go in

GTKY: Any plans for the 4th of July (if you're in the U.S.)? Just hanging out with my mom and my kids. Super exciting haha. Possibly going to the carnival/festival in town if the weather isn’t too hot.

  • How far along are you?: 13w1d

    Upcoming appointments: NT scan tomorrow

How are you feeling?: Definitely getting better, but still not 100%. Still tired in the afternoon, a little nauseated at night. But yeah, definitely better. I feel like my bump has plateaued a bit, like, it's been this big for a few weeks now, but I've transitioned from bloat to bump in a pretty smooth way so that it looks like nothing has changed, haha.

Rants/Raves: I got my haircut today! First haircut since February 2020, so I really needed it. I maybe cut off 5-6 inches or so? It feels sooooo much better.

Questions: Anyone ever get their hair dyed while pregnant? I haven't, feel kinda weird about it, but I would love to get it done at some point.

GTKY: Any plans for the 4th of July (if you're in the U.S.)? The boys have swim lessons in the morning, and then we're going to my parents' house to hang out and barbecue. I bought some cheap little 4th of July decorations and flags and bubbles for the kids to have fun with. Pretty sure we'll tell the boys that they have a little sister coming that day, too. Then my parents' neighbors usually set off fireworks in the street so we might stick around and watch those. Then I'll spend the night with the boys at my folks' house so they can have breakfast with them the next morning. My husband will go home and have the house to himself for a bit before we come home the next day.

@magalina_h I had good luck with Motherhood and Pink Blush (although the Pink Blush pants were always terrible on me). Target is super hit or miss, but I have a couple things from there that I've saved that are actually some of my favorites. If you're looking for jeans, I recommend Jessica Simpson's brand, if they're still being sold. I found those at Motherhood.

  • Thanks for all the clothes recommendations! I did but a few things at Old Navy the other day, and a few shirts from Target. I hoping I can manage like last pregnancy and just use my bella band with my regular pants.

  • How far along are you?: 11 weeks

Upcoming appointments: July 15th but it’s just a check up nothing fun

How are you feeling?: still super nauseated but I think I’m starting to feel a little better  it’s still rough but with my son I was sick till 23 weeks so this is an improvement.

Rants/Raves: I took my big licensing exam on Tuesday and still don’t have my results back. Boo! On the rave side my NIPT came back as low risk and we are having a little girl! I’ve loved being a boy mom and I’m looking forward to now being a girl mom too.

    Questions:

GTKY: Any plans for the 4th of July (if you're in the U.S.)? Nope. We are listing our house in the 17th and having our sons birthday party at the house on the 10th so just doing a lot of projects to prep all weekend.

@fifilala516 I had a little tiny bump at 18 weeks with my first. I probably look the same or bigger now with my fourth at 12+5.

@magalina_h old navy, gap, target and H&M. I sold some of my maternity stuff and gave the rest to my friend. Thankfully she gave me it back (plus more!) so I am set. But I’m still sad I got rid of almost all my baby stuff 🤦🏽‍♀️
  • kcf19kcf19 member
@mrsjessS I think I would like the digital appts! It’s such a pain for me to find childcare, but it’s also some nice me time and I like to hear the heartbeat.
  • @fifilala516 I honestly always start “showing” at like 8 weeks. I’ve had to supplement with progesterone both times and it makes me blow up. I’ve always looked visibly pregnant before hitting double digits. It never seems to go back to flat before “bumping” either so I just count it.

@magdalina.h I always bought mine from target, Amazon, old navy, gap. I also bought a lot of cheap tanks from Walmart. I know you could make everything work with a Bella and but honestly I always found my maternity clothes to be so much more comfortable and have never turned back.
@MrsJessS I personally never did virtual because I like to hear the heartbeat (because I’m so paranoid) but I would possibly consider during this pregnancy since I won’t have childcare.

@l@Lisa3379 I dyed my hair last pregnancy and it was never a problem. He came out fine lol. I plan on going next week before his birthday party.

How far along are you?: 12+5

    Upcoming appointments: tomorrow morning!

How are you feeling?: meh. I tried skipping unisom again, cannot do that. I only take half a pill at night but I felt terrible at work this morning and had to take one there. It immediately helped but then I couldn’t keep my eyelids open all day. Better than barfing during a session though.

I’m also struggling emotionally. I’ve just felt depressed and isolated this week. I should probably seek out a therapist, but who has time for that?

Rants/Raves: potty training sucks. I’m eating my daughter’s potty training rewards and saying F it.

Questions: any fun ways to tell older siblings you’re pregnant? I think we are going to tell the kids tomorrow night. I’m scared. I just want to blurt it out like I have with everyone else.

GTKY: Any plans for the 4th of July (if you're in the U.S.)? We are going to a friends for a cookout. We will probably go to the pool too. Also starting to demo our current dining room, which will be our new kitchen!

  • @lisa3379 I got mine highlighted last time but I’ve never dyed it. I am not sure if there’s a difference lol

@kcf19 that’s the literal exact debate I’m having about it haha. My kiddos are too young to really care so I have no help on how to tell them. But potty training is the actual worst.

@bec@beckylookatherbump yeah I’m definitely paranoid and would prefer to hear the heartbeat...but childcare. Ughhh.
  • How far along: 10w4d

Upcoming appointments: genetic testing blood draw tomorrow

How are you feeling: I was feeling a little better then today I got knocked on my ass, feeling super nauseous and had to stop working to take a 3 he nap

Rant: tired of feeling crappy, I’ve pretty much felt like garbage except for a few days since week 5. Rave: hoping I start feeling better soon because I have a really great opportunity at work that could completely change the trajectory of my career

With my first I didn’t pop until 6 months, I feel like at 10/11 weeks I’m practically the same size

I had good luck with Motherhood Maternity last time, I didn’t buy much because I could wear my normal clothes for so long, this time around my clothes are already getting uncomfortably tight

GTKY: no real plans for the 4th other than to hang with family
  • How far along are you?: 10w5d

Upcoming appointments: NIPT blood draw tomorrow.

How are you feeling?: like crap. Just run down, no energy, anxiety through the roof (I'm off my meds to be pregnant, and I have really been feeling the difference the last few weeks). I've had some mild nausea off and on for weeks, but this morning I woke up hit really strong like I was going to barf. I didn't, but absolute worst I've felt. Also really isolated (which is why I haven't been on here much, but I'm trying to work on that). I'm so over the 1st trimester.

Rants/Raves: Rave: MH has been super sensitive to how terrible I've been feeling and really taking on more around the house and watching dd even when he's busy with work so I can nap.

Questions: if you've gotten NIPT, how long did it take you to get results? I'm trying to remember from my first. I think it was only like a week even though they said to expect it to take 2 weeks, but don't really remember.

GTKY: Any plans for the 4th of July (if you're in the U.S.)? None. We're traveling to see my brother and his family on Tuesday, so just prepping and otherwise chilling at home. I wish I had a lazy way to see fireworks in person because they're my favorite, but not willing to fight traffic and crowds. I've been watching too much Great British Bake Off and I'm contemplating baking an apple pie, but I keep having these big ideas and dropping all of them b/c I just feel so crappy.

@elksammI feel your response SO much. Hoping it gets better soon, and yay on great work opportunities!

@kcf19 as someone who has really struggled with depression and isolation in pregnancy, I can't recommend a therapist enough. Have you looked into the app "betterhelp"? I've never used it, but I hear ads for it a lot and it sounds like it might be an easy way to connect with a therapist if you can't easily find one locally. Also, we haven't started potty training yet, and I am DREADING it

@fifilala516 I never really popped with my first. I honestly didn't think I looked that pregnant even at the end. I'm a larger girl, and I more gained weight everywhere, so never felt like I had a real bump. That said, I've already felt like it's time to switch to maternity pants!

@magdalina.h I got almost my whole maternity wardrobe at Motherhood or random pieces on Amazon (like leggings and shorts). All my MM stuff is super comfy and has remained wardrobe staples post baby (2+ years).

@beckylookatherbump Yay! girls are really fun. I don't have a frame of reference for a boy, but I've loved being a girl mom (and I am not very girly myself, so I was worried about that). Congrats!

  • How far along are you?: 10wks today

    Upcoming appointments: july15 OB appt

    How are you feeling?: tired.

Rants/Raves: glad that I finally had my dating US on Wednesday. Waiting to hear from the Dr.

    Questions: nope

GTKY: Any plans for the 4th of July (if you're in the U.S.)?

In Canada, our holiday is July 1. We didn't do anything really. A few friends came over for some drinks and that was it. Our neighbours are having a bbq tmrw that we will attend, so that'll be nice.

  • Thanks to everyone for the maternity clothes recommendations! It has been helpful reading through them all.

How far along are you?: 11w, 1d

Upcoming appointments: The end of July for the anatomy ultrasound. So long to wait!!! And currently waiting on results from bloodwork which is also torture 😩

How are you feeling?: Less nauseated, more energy. Still hella moody. 😂 And I cry about everything... music, TV ads, just thinking about someone I care about...

Rants/Raves: Rant - we announced the pregnancy to immediate family a week ago. This week - only one week later - my Dad asks if he can tell people yet 🙄. I'm glad people are excited, but for real?!?!

Rave - I get to go back into my office next week for two dayssss!!! First time in over a year!

Questions: Pregnancy exercise routines? What are you all doing? What do you recommend?

GTKY: Any plans for the 4th of July (if you're in the U.S.)? Nothing! I am letting myself off the hook from feeling like I have to go somewhere. I live in a city so I might be able to spot some distant fireworks which is enough for me. I am just looking forward to relaxing! 🇺🇸✨

  • kcf19kcf19 member
@lilyfox my dad is the same way, which is why I haven’t told him yet! Haha. My mom has known for weeks.

as far as exercise, I’m going to try a virtual yoga subscription. I might also swim some laps with my son 😊
  • How far along are you?: 13w4d

Upcoming appointments: July 14th, another follow up US given increased nuchal translucency seen on first (but thankfully got NIPT results back which were reassuring)

How are you feeling?: Pretty good.. some lower back/ SI joint pain and lately feeling hungry all the time

Rants/Raves: We just moved half way across the country and so thankful to be through it and have the help and support of my family.

Questions: Any tips for sleep? Waking up at 3 am every night

GTKY: Any plans for the 4th of July (if you're in the U.S.)? I don’t think so.. still getting settled here and feel like keeping it super chill.

Loved reading all the replies above! I’m just starting to think about maternity clothes so this is helpful. I don’t feel like I’m showing much yet, just a little bit but it’s mainly bloating. Now that I have a little more energy, going to look into some light prenatal yoga and I had a friend suggest a subscription to Mommastrong for work outs so might do a trial of that and see. Also I got my NIPT results back (Panorama) in 8 days.

@kcf19 For some reason I though my parents would be reasonable 😂

I had downloaded the downward dog app for prenatal yoga and used to twice before nausea stopped me from feeling like doing anything 😩. I might try again. I also love swimming! I need to get to the pool.

From your check-in... For the nausea - taking B6 during the day and unisome only before bed was a good combo for me. And if you have the thought that seeing a therapist might be helpful... find the time. It is so worth it. 💛

@magdalina.h I'm with you on trying not to spend much on mat clothes...unfortunately, my first two were both August birthdays, so a lot of the stuff I wore when I was super pregnant won't go with the season! I got a fair amount at Target and also found some good stuff from Gap (typically shopped the clearance, haha). ETA: A few of the pieces I got from Gap doubled as maternity/nursing clothes, which is awesome if you're planning to breastfeed!

@kcf19 sorry you are having a rough week.  :( Have you tried virtual therapy? I feel like that would be a great way to get a session in without the hassle!

@shinyobjects so glad your H recognizes how difficult 1st tri is, because I'm pretty sure mine is clueless...he's great in a lot of ways but has not taken much off my load so far! I hope you start feeling better soon both physically and emotionally.  <3

Hey, everyone!! I have been a terrible/non-existent participant the last couple weeks...ever since I got back from vacation, I was just exhausted and felt super busy. But I've missed being here and enjoyed reading through your updates!! Gonna try to do better (but no promises...).

How far along are you?: 10+5

Upcoming appointments: check-up and NIPT draw on Friday

How are you feeling?: As mentioned above, just SO TIRED. Nausea comes and goes (most prominent in the morning and evening), but it's promising to see some of you who are a little further along feel like it's subsiding!

    Rants/Raves:
Rave - As of last Wednesday, I am officially done with PIO injections!

Rant - I am taking a couple classes this summer, and I feel like they are taking up every last drop of free time I have. What was I thinking!?

GTKY: Any plans for the 4th of July (if you're in the U.S.)? We went to H's grandparents yesterday for a cook-out/pool party, and told his family about the baby. Kinda felt like we had to because my family has known since May, but H's family is TERRIBLE at keeping secrets, so now I feel pressure to tell our friends before they find out otherwise.

  • How far along are you?:
    - 13 +2

Upcoming appointments: I have an early morphology scan and genetics appointment at maternal fetal medicine this Thursday.

How are you feeling?: Pretty good, finally not feeling queasy all day. Mostly just an emotional mess.

Rants/Raves: I no longer have to do rotating shifts at work starting next week which will seriously improve my quality of life.

    Questions:

GTKY: Any plans for the 4th of July (if you're in the U.S.)? I'm late to the party this week, but I'm a nurse so I worked 12 hour shifts Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
