@acleverusername  I’ve not had a chance to post in the IF thread but I’ve been reading everyone’s updates and I’m so sorry your IVF cycle was cancelled. I know it was the right move but it still sucks! I hope the next 6 weeks are filled with fun things so that they go by quickly!

Hi friends! Figured I’d jump over here since I was the only one posting on the benched thread the past couple of weeks.

What habits, goals, or resolutions are you focusing on this week? Just trying to get back in the habit of exercising and make better food choices.

How's everything going? Any recent wins?
So I went to do yoga last night and the program I love is no longer free on prime 😩. So I was annoyed and didn’t want to just pick a random one so I spent the evening doing a little research. I started a new one this morning and it was pretty annoying. I need something for beginners because I am not good, but I know what I am doing so hearing someone explain the steps of sun salutation a in detail is just a distraction (oops there is my bcp rage again). It’s a 5 day program so I’m going to finish it to see if it gets better but we will see. I think I just don’t like the instructor, she seems to be more of a fitness person who does yoga versus someone who is extremely into yoga which apparently makes a difference for me

What has you motivated or struggling this week?
Ugh the scale is my motivation. I was already heavier than I wanted to be and the BC isn’t helping. I usually don’t focus so much on the scale but my clothes are getting smaller and I just don’t “feel” like I look good so hopefully I can keep it up and start feeling good about myself again
  • @acleverusername I know we all hate when things get cancelled or pushed back, but too many times have we seen delay during IF work out in our favor. Hope that program does the trick for you!

@bows22 I sound like a broken record, but I've been enjoying Yoga with Adriene on YouTube. She goes at a nice slow pace (some videos not so much but that's only a few). I believe she has a playlist put together that are yoga for beginner type videos. She does a good job of suggesting modifications during some of the poses that are more challenging if you need it. Also her voice is so soothing and her dog Benji is so cute.

What habits, goals, or resolutions are you focusing on this week? less sugar/soda

How's everything going? Any recent wins? I may have gone a little overboard with my dessert last night (cinnamon donut holes, can you blame me?), but it's hard to know what the serving size is when they tell you it's 1 oz. Can't you just give me a number of donut holes? I likely had 2-3 servings.

What has you motivated or struggling this week? We finally got through that birthday cake so now we're back to more simple desserts like GF Oreos or bowls of ice cream/frozen dessert. I'm trying to keep my intake of hot chocolate and apple cider to 1 or 2 packets a day since those have quite a bit of sugar too.

@inthewoods23 thank you that is helpful! I was thinking maybe I wasn’t good enough to try hers but sounds like it’s up my alley. That will probably be my next attempt. Cinnamon donut holes sound amazing, I don’t blame you for splurging! I’m sure working from home makes it hard with the hot chocolate/cider since it’s always there to tempt you versus in the office where you prob wouldn’t even think about it
  • @bows22 she's super awesome about encouraging you to do what feels right for you. Much of the time she's going at a faster pace than me with some of the core work that involves laying on your back as I think that aggravates my scoliosis making it hard for me to breathe if I go too fast. With the more complicated stuff she guides you into it in stages so you can stop at any point when you've reached your limit (like hips in the air but feet not off the ground for crow pose). And there's absolutely nothing wrong with not having your heels touch the floor during downward facing dog! lol

  • What habits, goals, or resolutions are you focusing on this week? I just started walking a couple mornings a week with my mom, which will help me stay doing it, and I'm trying to eat better overall.

How's everything going? Any recent wins? Did our first walk this morning despite the Idon'twannas. And we chose to eat lunch at home instead of eating out.

What has you motivated or struggling this week? My gyn wanted me to lose 50lbs when I saw her in December. I've lost 0 so far. I see her next week, so trying extra hard to lose at least a couple before then. Extra motivated now because I'm feeling spurred on by family stuff, and the fact my family now knows we're actively trying should help keep me motivated to lose weight/get healthier for that purpose.
  • @acleverusername that clearing program sounds interesting, I hope it helps!
@bows22 I need to find some yoga videos. My husband and I bought mats (and a weight set) a month or two ago but then I threw out my back, so we haven't started them yet. I hope you can find a program that works without being too explainy or complicated.
@inthewoods23 mmm donut holes, I can understand why you'd splurge lol. I've noticed some desserts like ice cream pints now have two info sets on the label: the info for an actual single serving, and the info for the entire pint at once because they know not many people are eating a pint of ice cream in 4 separate sittings.
  • @fantasyflyte the first dairy free "ice cream" I found that I love only comes in pints and I surprisingly did only eat a serving out of the container at a time! Quite a feat I must say lol. It is so easy to eat all it though, that's for sure. I saw on a box of Rice A Roni the other day that the nutrition facts have the info for "as packaged" and "as prepared". Like... does anyone eat this as packaged because that's uncooked rice so....:grey_question::grey_question:

  • What habits, goals, or resolutions are you focusing on this week? More water, and better management of phone time. I’ve struggled with sleep and I think I need to stop looking at my phone earlier in the evening and opt for reading. Also trying to close all my rings on Apple Watch every day.

How's everything going? Any recent wins? I’ve closed my rings every day except once this month! Pretty proud of that.

What has you motivated or struggling this week? I’m listening to the book, Intuitive Eating. I’ve read it before and find it to be really wise and helpful in healing my relationship with food. Trying to really use those tools more deliberately going forward.

@fantasyflyte @bows22 I know it’s expensive but I’ve really loved the peloton yoga classes. Just a ton of options on length, intensity, music, etc. And they have barre and Pilates classes, too, which I do occasionally to push myself outside my comfort zone. I do have the peloton bike and I might not have opted for the app without the bike, but I honestly love the yoga/strength/barre classes as much as the bike.
  • Jumping in this week for accountability. Back for tags in a bit.

What habits, goals, or resolutions are you focusing on this week? I’m going to try to hit 10,000 steps for the remainder of the week.

How's everything going? Any recent wins? Things around fitness feel ‘blah’ lately. I’m carrying 10 extra pounds that feel like 30. I don’t like how my body feels physically and I can really see a difference in my face. I just don’t feel or look healthy. But, I guess some small wins are that I lost a pound this week so far, and I’ve been getting a lot of daily steps the past few weeks. A real problem is that I’ve had the Apple Watch for 6 weeks and it is truly not motivating to me at all. I even downloaded the Step Counter app onto my watch but it doesn’t work reliably. The only thing I like about the AW is that I can listen to music on my AirPods while I work out without having to carry my phone. That is legit the only perk I see in this thing. I may go back to Fitbit which was so much more motivating.

What has you motivated or struggling this week? I’m still sore from egg retrieval four days ago so it’s been hard to move my body. Today may be the day! DH said he will go walking with me everyday this week so that should get me moving.

@inthewoods23 I will never be able to have my heels touch the floor in down dog. I’ve just accepted it. Glad to hear that’s not a deal breaker hahah

@fantasyflyte nice job getting the walk in! The first couple of days of a new habit are the hardest!

@rachelredhead I have heard really great things about the peloton app! I agree that reading versus looking at my phone before bed helps me sleep better

@keikilove I love my Apple Watch but more as a replacement for always looking at my phone - not missing calls while I’m working, getting emails/teams messages, and my favorite thing is having my next calendar appointment at the bottom of the screen so that I don’t stress about missing a meeting. However I agree with you as a fitness tracker it’s not ideal. You’ll be happier if you do what works for you so if that’s the Fitbit I’d switch back for sure!
  • @bows22 You’re right, I really just need to do what works for me. I skimmed Prime Day to see if there’s a Fitbit that will let me access music while running/walking without using my phone. We will see if I’m able to sneak in a purchase before end of the workday.//Regarding your yoga conundrum: I totally feel you on that. So disappointing when things you like aren’t free anymore! I paid for an online Pilates program and I’ve tried it twice. It sucks. I love Pilates but I need an upbeat fun program. I hope you like Yoga by Adrienne! And add me to the list of people whose heels do not ever touch the floor in downward dog.😁

@rachelredhead Best of luck with the reading versus scrolling this week! I have the same goal but never seem to stick to it.

@fantasyflyte Way to go with the walk this morning and eating lunch at home! Keep it up and you will surely be a few pounds lighter before the gyno appointment.

@inthewoods23 Good luck cutting back on sugar this week! It truly is an addiction (I’m an addict too😉) based on how the brain responds to it and how it induces cravings for more sugar. The more we can cut back the less we will want it. One little trick I’ve found that seems to help is to eat a few Brazil nuts or handful of other nuts when I want sugar. It seems to stabilize my blood sugar and quell the cravings. Maybe it could work for you too?

@acleverusername Wishing you all the best with the clearing program! It will probably be tough at first but so worth it at the end of your 21 days. I hope it helps you detox from all the IVF meds and that you start to feel better/have more energy soon!
  • Will be back for tags later, but for now thought I'd share what my elimination diet entails. See attachment. I'm also taking pretty powerful, emulsified supplements: Trizomal Glutathione & Tumeric. At last a syringe that I don't use on my belly! Hahaha. And I will also be starting this & this as soon as they arrive (originally this wasn't part of my plan due to IVF, but since that was cancelled, I was able to add it back).

  • What habits, goals, or resolutions are you focusing on this week? This week I've been focusing on try to accept the fact that IVF is apparently the only viable option for us and I'm trying to search to understand it better.

How's everything going? Any recent wins? DH and I seem to get along better these days, since we started searching clinics, docs, and treatments. I am trying not to take it personally, but It's hard. Everytime I see how many steps, how difficult it is, how expensive everything is, I feel like "oh okay, it's because of me, my age, my anxiety".

What has you motivated or struggling this week? Dealing with all the emotions and feelings and everything is honestly quite tiring.
  • Happy Friday, everyone! Just checking up on how everyone is doing, and updating my weekly progress for accountability.

@dutchessmom I completely understand what you mean about facing down the fact that IVF is a reality. It’s gray that the process of researching clinics is bringing you and YH closer. It had the same effect for me and MH. Feel free to post in the Mental Health thread too if you need more support for all the feelings, or join us in the IF (infertility) testing & treatment thread as it sounds like you have been dealing with secondary infertility. (Me too. No fun!)

@acleverusername I hope you’re feeling a bit better from the clearing diet. Have you noticed anything on particular yet that makes you feel better by cutting it out? Or is it way too early for all that?

@rachelredhead How is it going with reading before bed?

@inthewoods23 How has your sugar and soda intake been this week?

@fantasyflyte Were you able to keep up the walking and healthy eating? Did your mom continue to go with you?

@bows22 Did you find any exercise that works for you? How’s it going with eating healthy foods?

AFM, I went walking three days this week, and twice yesterday. Yesterday was the first day my abdomen didn’t hurt after egg retrieval, so I went for two leisurely walks for a total of 100 minutes. My Apple Watch credited me a measly 13 minutes of exercise!🙄 So, to spare you from all my b*tching and moaning about this d*mn AW, I did order myself a new Fitbit on Prime Day. 😊I’m hoping so hard that I like it and can return this AW.
  • @keikilove haha your issue with your AW only crediting you with 13 minutes of exercise reminds me of the annoyance I had yesterday in a walking tracker app my company uses for a steps challenge. I don't know what it is with our HR, but they are always behind on sending out reminders like "hey the challenge starts on Monday, don't forget to sign up!". We got the reminder yesterday (challenge started this past Monday) and this app doesn't allow you to go back to previous days to enter data. I spent forever entering fake activities for yesterday's log that totaled a similar step count to the total steps I had for Monday-Wednesday. Entering my equivalent steps for my yoga every day was easy, but I can't just manually add step counts unless I converted "walking (miles distance)" to steps. The Google Fit app tracks steps and miles so I totaled the distance all up and the walking tracker app gave me some 5000 steps less than the actual steps that my Google Fit app listed. I had to fudge the distance from 3.5 some miles to 5.6 miles to equate to the proper amount of steps. How the heck can it be so off? A pedometer tied to our shoes is probably the only accurate option :D

I've been pretty good about my soda intake. Sugar.... ehhhhh no I'm kind of failing at that. There's an open tub of frosting from when I made that cake for my cat's birthday still in the fridge. Thankfully it's in the way back so I'd have to move some things to easily access it. Haven't had a spoonful out of it yet but I'm so tempted so I can get it out of the house haha

  • What habits, goals, or resolutions are you focusing on this week? Getting back in the habit of tracking food. I'm not necessarily trying to lose any weight but I think I am gaining it again. I noticed the number of calories I burn total in a week according to FitBit is high enough that I would have to be consuming almost double the amount of calories recommended in order to be gaining weight. So I need to get that under control.

How's everything going? Any recent wins? I haven't been doing Beachbody because I'm trying not to workout too intensely, but I have been hiking every day and my steps have been well over 10,000 every day. I'm hoping to keep that up as long as possible!

What has you motivated or struggling this week? I struggle with finding a balance between working out and the rest of my day. If I do Beachbody workouts I'm giving up 30 minutes I could be doing something else-and I don't particularly enjoy working out-plus those minutes are precious. I could be gardening, reading, writing etc. Hopefully hiking now that schools out will solve this problem-because I enjoy it! And I can do it during the day instead of after school when I'm exhausted!
  • Back for my tags just in time before the new thread is up!

@keikilove Congrats on getting all that walking in! And also for the elliptical vs couch. As for AW, to be honest, that's one of the things I really didn't like about it. I don't miss it. I used to hold myself accountable to "closing my rings", but like...working from home, it was so hard to close that standing ring. And for exercise, I would always have to initiate another program. Why can't you just "tell" that I'm exercising?! I can't tell if the diet is making a difference yet in terms of my health (other than I stepped on the scale and I was back to my pre-stim weight... yay!). I can tell you that the caffeine/sugar/gluten/diary/red meat withdrawal is real. I was so tired all this week. I felt the same as last when when doing stims.)

@bows22 I'll throw my yoga suggestion into the hat: last year I downloaded Down Dog Yoga app and I really enjoyed it for the time I used it (my tendonitis really got the best of me thereafter). It lets you set parameters (i.e. if you want to for example focus on flexibility, or ab strength, or back, etc.) and generates a program for you. As a bonus, you can select your own music to go with the sequence. You can also generate a sequence as short or as long as you like. I believe the app has a 7-day trial.

@inthewoods23 congrats on being good with soda this week. I can understand the temptation of that frosting... but you can do it! Resist it!

@fantasyflyte what a great idea to get your mom involved in your exercise plan! Having someone to hold you accountable is unbelievably motivation for me. Hope it works for you too!

@rachelredhead ah yes... the struggle of "digital versus analog" in the evenings... hopefully you had some success this week.

@dutchessmom I am sorry that you're struggling with what's next in your fertility journey... that's really tough. Unfortunately, time is cruel to our reproductive abilities. As The Egg Whisperer says... "it's hard to find a good egg after 40" (but NOT IMPOSSIBLE!)

@SmashJam I totally get the struggle of "exercise versus doing this other thing that I would enjoy and would help me relax." There's just too much to do in a day! In my case, my only exercise right now is walking my dog. 🤷‍♀️
