  • @inthewoods23 I'm thinking the same thing! It's so quiet around here.
  • @inthewoods23 it's been quiet the last couple days in general! 🤔

I have nothing interesting to add in the dailies today 😂 but I'll do it anyway
  • @inthewoods23 it's so quiet compared to the last week or two of busy threads!

TTGP is only displaying 2 pages for me on phone, mobile app, & desktop. Anyone else?
  • @keikilove yep, 2 pages. 🧐
  • Thanks @rachelredhead! Probably just a TB glitch or maintenance, as usual.

@keikilove same but the search bar is back so it’s a win overall!

Has anyone been to the eye doctor since covid? The lens machine thing kept fogging up when he was doing the “is #1 or #2 better?” Thing. He finally had me take my mask off but how is that not happening to everyone? Am I just a heavy breather? Good grief. He said my prescription wouldn’t change much so I’m not even going to get a new one because I’m afraid it’s not accurate because of the fog haha
  • @bows22 I had that issue when I went last year. They had me take my mask off and had this small plexiglass plate kind of thing they could swing over for "protection" so we could finish without me fogging up the lenses. I put protection in quotes because it was probably the size of an ipad which I highly doubt would protect anyone from flying particles. But anyway.... usually by our ages our eyes don't change much so it's probably not a big issue.

@bows22 my glasses regularly fog with masks. I have antifog lenses. 🤷‍♀️ You can't stop that mask fog!! I honestly can't remember but they might have had my take off my mask for that when I went to the eye dr last year.
  • @bows22 I had the same experience a couple months ago. By that point the eye doctor was vaxxed but I wasn’t yet so in the grand scheme of things the risk was minimal for both of us. My right eye finally reached the end of the road for daily disposable contacts (-12 prescription) so it’s on strict orders to not get any worse. 😝

@inthewoods23 apparently my prescription “hasn’t changed much” each time I’ve been there since 2014 so they made me get new ones 😂. I usually hate picking out glasses but I found ones I really like and am kind of excited about them now!

@pajamstagrams yes I only wear my glasses when I drive so it hasn’t been an issue for me, but I’ve definitely heard people say that! so you would think they would have that sorted out now that we’ve been wearing masks for a year and I wouldn’t have to awkwardly be like um I can’t actually see anything!
  • @pajamstagrams I get my glasses from Zenni, and I tried the antifog and it's a load of crap. You get a "special activator cloth" that you wipe over the lenses for "up to 24 hours" fog free. Didn't even last an hour. It did reduce the fog somewhat, but not enough that I'd say it was worth it. I wish I'd stuck to my usual oil-resistant coating, because I love these glasses otherwise (they have magnetic sunglasses that attach in the exact same shape as the frames! so much safer to take the sunglasses part on and off while driving!) but they're tough to get as streak-free as I prefer because they don't have the oil-resistant coating.
  • @rachelredhead oh my lord are you wearing the hard contacts with a -12 prescription?? My mom had those with her awful eyesight.

@bows22 haha your eyes sound like DH's. Most years they don't change. He really liked it when they had the same prescription because he didn't need to worry about putting the correct lens in the correct eye. My right eye can't make up it's mind. It has astigmatism, but not enough for the astigmatism lenses (cuz that starts at 1.25 when mine are 0.75 whatever that measurement means) and it seems like depending on the day when I'm at the appointment I find the lenses with astigmatism to be clearer and other times without astigmatism it's better. One year when DH and I were together he said I went back and forth from the sample contacts room back to the chair to check my sight 17 times! I've been wanting to get new frames for a few years but our insurance covers contacts or glasses, not both. This year I plan on buying from Zenni Optical or some other glasses site where I can get them for like $25.

@rachelredhead yes I’m vaccinated and I’m assuming the doctor is too so it seems like a no brainer to just have me not wear a mask but they yelled at some 80 year old lady for not having a mask on so i guess they are pretty strict. I don’t wear contacts so I don’t know what that means but yes it’s not allowed to get worse! Would that mean that you can’t wear contacts at a certain point??
  • @bows22 @inthewoods23 I’m still able to wear soft, daily disposable contacts for now. But -12 is the highest prescription of those available so if my eyes get worse I’d have to switch to hard contacts or wear glasses and contacts which seems real dumb. 😂 Poor broken eyeballs.

@mokamonster so to continue our convo about tortoises, this is my sisters. Her elderly cat has made friends with him although I think the heat lamp has a lot to do with it. Lol. He seems to really enjoy her company though. She just jumps right in his box to snuggle him.

Edit to add another picture she just sent me.
