I bought my boys shirts that said "big brother" and "bigger brother" and did an announcement last year before we lost that one, so I feel like I've already blown that one, haha. But they still have the shirts... maybe I'll do something for my own use, like, not post it on social media, but keep the pics for our family.
I might do the thing where all of a sudden, I post a picture of the baby to social media, and that'll serve as the announcement. That's kind of a cool move.
My sons first birthday is in July so we will have all the family here (and I should have the results from NIPT and first ultrasound by then) so we plan on sending him out in a big brother shirt for my whole family. So exciting
@beckylookatherbump I did the same thing when I was pregnant with my 2nd, but the shirt had a little airplane and said something like "co-pilot coming October 2018". My brother and his fiancé noticed it within 20 minutes or so... it took my parents almost an hour and a half to see it and get it! It was hilarious. I kept parading my kid back and forth to get them to notice, and it's not like they ignored him - they were just oblivious to the shirt, haha.
@Lisa3379 I’m not leaving it to chance. My mom already knows and we told everyone to be there early so I could get pictures with the birthday boy before he got tired and overwhelmed. My mom has been instructed to say something if no one notices. She visits too much to have his it from her with as sick as I’ve been.
@beckylookatherbump Good call enlisting mom to get the ball rolling if needed! All of our immediate family already knows because they knew about all the IVF processes we went through, but there are a few people we'll just tell when we see them at the end of July (also, like you, we'll have all the test results by then). Sorry you've been feeling so sick.
We've been telling the important people. We'll do a larger social media announcement later this summer, I think. I think the idea of me and DH touching bellies and saying "not fat, just pregnant" is hilarious!
I’m trying to figure out something cute to say as well. A part of me is ready to share sooner bc this will be our only child via pregnancy so god forbid even if something did happen I’m ready to share this little miracle with my friends and family. I am one of these people that gets overwhelmed trying to be creative so I may post a bunch of random pics from our freaking 8 year journey to get here. I saw a cute tik tok where the announcement had a onesy that said “worth every shot” that was super cute. Ugh I dunno!!!
@Lisa3379 - I was crying too! It was the sweetest announcement. I’ll try and track it down. I saw another that said “I’m so cool. I used to be frozen”. 🤣
I will be posting this on Father’s Day! Family and close friends already know. I’ll be 11 weeks and already had an ultrasound to confirm everything looks good and heart beat. Part of me thinks I should wait till my 12 week app for the other ultrasound to make sure there’s no Trisomy 13, etc But I just can’t wait! It’s getting harder to hide it! 😁
@Lisa3379 my friend just posted on Facebook about the arrival of her daughter- she made no other announcements- it was a lovely surprise! I am also leaning towards saying nothing and showing up with a baby in January-all the important people who need to know, know we are pregnant- that’s good enough for me!
Simple yet effective our immedeate family knew. We went fb official with our ultrasound pic and these simple words: For every plan you make God makes one too [Insert last name] #7 due Jan 2022
@laurabridget I got these same booties from Target for our announcement! We were already planning on taking family photos this month w our 2 cats anyway lol so we ended up getting a few announcement photos as well.. Planning on sharing on social media in the next week or two!
For our local family, I made a shirt for my little 17 month old to wear. "I'm going to be a BIG Sister" 💕 But she loves to wear a sweater so it took forever to get it off and then my aunt got it right away and my mom took a second. My other aunt took another 20 mins 😂

We haven't decided how we're going to announce. Probably after I move
