Ages of other child(ren)? Almost 4

Any thoughts about this cycle? I forgot to bring OPKs when we went out of town for a memorial, so I’m not too hopeful that we got the timing right.

Rant/Rave? I’m home with my DD this summer for the first time since maternity leave. It has been really nice, but is exhausting in a different way than being a work. I have definite respect for stay-at-home moms as I’m not sure I have the stamina to do it all the time! We’re starting to plan her 4th birthday, but I’m drawing a blank for any exciting gift ideas and she isn’t very helpful (but will be getting the colored pencils she asked for 😊). Anyone have any suggestions for that age?

GTKY: What's a smell that always triggers a good memory for you? Bread baking! My mom made sourdough bread every week while I was growing up, and that smell will always make me think of her.

@abjm0325 that’s such a good question about a gift. DD doesn’t turn 4 until fall so keep me posted about what you pick haha! I figured I’d respond though since she is similar in age. Does she have a dollhouse, kitchen, bike?

@abjm0325 I think we may get my oldest son a trampoline for the yard for his birthday he will 4 in August. I usually nonchalantly take mine to a toy store about 2-3 weeks before their birthday “to shop for a friend or cousin” and see what they look at. We conveniently don’t find what we are looking for and leave lol but some how I’m super lucky and my kids never ask for anything at store except the occasional candy bar.

my oldest is speech delayed but he’s been making a lot of prefers lately and I just love his little voice it’s so sweet sounding. He is starting to introduce himself to people too and it’s great to watch. Be also been having fun planning both birthday parties and I think my God mother and I are going to volunteer together at a food pantry soon which I’m excited for. I’m nervous about the upcoming doctors appointments but it’ll be alright. Oh and I’m currently writing my husbands bio because he won hero of the game for our local MLB team and he’s going to get honored I’m so happy for him, he really deserves it.

GTKY: What's a smell that always triggers a good memory for you? Hmmmm I can’t say that im very into smells but my grandma sure a certain fragrance all the tome and occasionally I’ll pass by an older lady wearing it and I love it.

@bows22 She has a small plastic dollhouse that I would love to upgrade in a few years, but I think I might like to build one with her when she gets a little older if she's interested. She has a bike (and no interest in it) and a small kitchen. Thank you for the ideas though!!

Hey all! I started popping back in on this board a few weeks ago after being away for a few years, and I'm happy to finally be able to participate in this particular thread!

What number are you trying for? 2

Month/Cycle? This is sort of tough to answer. Technically, we haven't been doing anything to prevent since I had S more than 2 and a half years ago. That said, we have known IF issues, so based on that I guess we really haven't been able to get started yet, we're stuck in appointment limbo.

WAYDTGKU: I started taking prenatala again to get back in the habit and scheduled our initial consult with our new RE for later this summer. That's about it for now.

Rant/Rave? I'm probably in the minority here, but I'm enjoying this early heat wave we're having this summer. Summer always feels so fleeting and this is kind of like a bonus.

GTKY: What's a smell that always triggers a good memory for you? I love the smell of the atmosphere just before it rains. Everything smells so clean and new. I spent a lot of time at my grandparents house in the country growing up, and it always reminds me of summers there.

@abjm0325, wish I had suggestions but I am completely unhelpful. All of my nieces are either too young or too old and I've forgotten what we got them at 4!

TMI alert 🤮

DD puked alllll over herself on the way home from daycare. We were like 10 min from home. 😩 So when I got home I had to spend an hour and a half cleaning the car seat, and researching what the heck I can actually use to clean everything with (I'm hoping my old dapple dish soap was mild enough, we don't have Dawn, which is what they recommend. I suppose the tiny bit of soap I used is less harsh than stomach acid, right??😬). So know I smell like vomit, it feels like 100F outside, and I'm just over it all. Currently waiting for my shower to get nice and hot.

Also, I don't know why she puked. She doesn't get carsick. And she's acting fairly normal, and didn't cry at all when she was actually sick. Now I have to play the waiting game and see what happens tonight, and call daycare tomorrow to see if she can still come in. I guess it's a good thing the appointment I had tomorrow was able to rescheduled since they called me as I was wiping vomit from my kid 😂

GTKY: What's a smell that always triggers a good memory for you? HA, nothing right now, my nose is ruined. But I'd say mulled wine or cider! Was a big staple when I was younger (and living with my parents) on Christmas morning 😊

@pajamstagrams ooooooh Im sorry- that is no fun at all- not even going to lie SD1 threw up all over a car seat once and I straight up threw it out and bought a new britax. I couldn’t get the smell out. I hope little one is feeling okay tomorrow ❤️ It was pretty hot out maybe she got over heated at recess or something at daycare?

@zwink1 I love the hot weather too! These cicadas on the other hand suck. (I’m happy you’re on here too I remember you from TTC days past.

@daisy0322 yeah, it could have just been too hot in the car. I normally keep the back cooler but my settings got messed up. Might need to get one of those noggle things I see where you can direct air flow. She was running around the house this evening so I guess it wasn't that bad, but it takes a lot to slow her down.

And that's so cool about YH! Do you get to go to the game? Good seats?

@abjm0325 hmmm, I would say other art supplies if she likes that kind of stuff? A fun coloring book? Idk what 4 year olds want either 😕 could you do a fun mommy and me date?

@zwink1 get outta here with your weird love of summer heat 😂 but I do love the smell before it rains!

@pajamstagrams omg poor DD! And poor you! are you in car seats for the littles? I always see it recommended to put the seat out in the sun to get the puke smell out so maybe the 100F weather will work out for you! Also I did a quick search in the group and I think dapple is fine as a replacement for blue dawn.

@pajamstagrams yes! We get great seats on the first base line. DS1 is so excited he loves baseball and he’s really excited daddy is a hero lol .... I have a personal fan thing that’s rechargeable that you can attach to basically anything for my youngest. He gets super grumpy when he’s hot. But it has 3 speeds and the battery lasts awhile when fully charged like 7 hours maybe I hit it in Amazon

Alright I gotta share this -
So this local bakery did a contest on Facebook to get rid of some left over cookies they had. Well I won (yay) out of quite a few people they were delicious and I ate way too much. But I run in they have it packaged and I didn’t bother looking I figured it was probably surplus normal cookies which is what they usually do but I get home open the box and they were all adorable cookies from some random baby shower...🙄

Rant/Rave? we had a really nice weekend at the beach, saturday was a little meh, but sunday was just perfect weather. DD hated the sand tho, which was honestly a perk, she refused to leave our beach tent/blanket set up. i cannot focus for the life of me at work tho... ugh.

@abjm0325 my niece turned 4 last year, i got her a bunch of outdoor play stuff like bubbles, side walk chalk, a little outdoor bowling kit - do you have $5 below where you live? they always have interesting stuff for kids

@pajamstagrams oh gosh, the fact that you didn't also puke is a miracle! does her seat cover come off? we did the maxi cosi seats because they're so easy to peel off and can do in the washing machine.

@anniemarie887 yeah they come off, although easier said than done to put back on. Need to check if they need another round in the wash. Not in a hurry to reassemble since I just stole the carseat from DH's car, and we do have a 3rd back up if god forbid she pukes again. And yeah, I almost puked cleaning up some of it, and that was with my mask on! I definitely would have thrown up if I was pregnant.

I wish my DD hated the sand, and stayed in the shade! Our car still has sand in it from last year. And I'm kinda dreading our beach trip this summer with both her AND the dog (who is absolutely getting shaved down before). At least with the air bnb we can walk to the beach, so theoretically the sand in the car should be minimal.

weirdly i've just come to terms that sand will be.... everywhere @pajamstagrams. my parents are quite phobic about it, and the place at the beach is their second house. so we have to be very careful coming back inside! the pool is another animal, she just runs around the pool deck like a banshee. and @daisy0322 yes! mh got a little bucket of ocean water and she was happy to play with that and her sand toys at the edge of the tent, she wouldn't take her little native shoes off tho, but would get sand stuck in them, so every so often we'd basically douse her in water to clean the sand off.

@anniemarie887 yeah, you just have to accept it. That's how I feel about boob sweat in the summer...once you initially get that sweat going and you accept it, it's much less miserable and you can ignore it😂

Rant/Rave? I mentioned that they are assembling a 2 story modular home near me and we are having to have lunch on the porch because my boys are so captivated by the crane and large trucks. Lol.

GTKY: What's a smell that always triggers a good memory for you? Hmmm. When we open the camper for the year or I pull out a sweater that was in there it smells like that. I love that.

@pajamstagrams oh no your poor dd! And poor you!!!! I shouldn’t even say this because now it’s gonna happen but I’ve been so lucky with not having to deal with much vomit. Is your dd sick or is it more of a car sickness thing? I hope she’s feeling better!!

@anniemarie887 you totally lucked out with dd not pulling the sand right now. I WISH my boys didn’t like sand. It’s such a mess but also they throw it….😑 and they also take off on me making the beach more of a high intensity workout than a relaxing vaca haha

@paytonpedro she's never gotten carsick! She had a very minor milk spit up like 2 years ago, but nothing else. This is only the 3rd time she's actually thrown up ever. 🤷‍♀️ She seems to be doing ok today so that's good! The car rides today went much better 😂

Also my DD loves construction vehicles too! She loves tractors. But everything is called a tractor.

@pajamstagrams my had a random car throw up once and I was convinced it was carsickness but thank goodness it was a 1 and none since. We’re actually doing his birthday party tractor themed because he’s obsessed as well!!! I finally got the off the porch SIX hours after we went out there 🤣🤣

Any thoughts about this cycle? Not yet, this is our first cycle using Mosie so we’ll see how that goes. It has already improved DH’s anxiety so that’s a plus!

Rant/Rave? I’m matron of honor for my sis and we’re wedding dress shopping this weekend. We’re also hosting her engagement party on Saturday. I am excited about these things but also overwhelmed by integrating nap schedules and baby stuff into the weekend. We’ve been isolated so long, I feel like a total newbie figuring out how to be social with my baby.

GTKY: What's a smell that always triggers a good memory for you? Love the smell of fresh tomato, makes me think of my grandmother who loved tomatoes on a biscuit.

@paytonpedro we had a tree removed last week and our son was transfixed by the crane and trucks. He loves trees in general so seeing a big tree plus a big crane blew his little mind. 😂 Love watching their fascination!

@rachelredhead babies are easy, just bring them along and be social! They just sleep 😂 I see your kiddo is 11 months, and that's solidly in the trouble zone when it comes to outings. No attention span, but wants to be everywhere! It gets easier when they move to a single nap though. Just plan everything either in the am or pm, and never ever ever over nap time 😖
