Cicadas. Yuck. Anyone else living in the path of brood x? Couldn't they have done this last year when we were all basically shut-ins anyway? Inconsiderate, horny bastards.
@mayoduck, it may sound wierd but I'm bummed I missed it. I used to live in a cicada central but moved a few years ago... I miss the sound, that wierd deafening sound, lol.
@doodleoodle my allergies are amped too. Plus I've had the pregnancy stuffy nose so my sinuses are angry.
@jackie_dunny oh that's one of my favorite parts of Summer too!
My BF is all the rain we've been having. Great for my pregnancy allergies, but pregnancy has brought on barometric pressure migraines, so I've just been in constant headache mode lately.
@gingerale79 I'll home swap you for the next month until they are gone 😂. Even from inside our house, their constant droning hum is so loud, the other day DH thought one of our toilets was running. We get some every year, and I don't mind them normally.. it's when there are so many of them that it's hard to avoid stepping on them or having them fly into my hair and face when I go outside that I take issue. @doodleoodle Is that a thing? I got pregnant in early summer the first time around and so completely missed being pregnant during the spring. I often get some level of spring/fall allergies, but my allergies have been out of control this time around. I'll sneeze several times in a row because it's like no matter how many times I sneeze, I can't shake that itchy-in-the-nose feeling!
@mayoduck Dr. Google says it is indeed a real thing. I’ve been pregnant in the spring 3 times and it’s never bothered me before. I’m sorry you’re also suffering!
@mayoduck oh I would switch you for a week, especially if you get lightening bugs too but I couldn't do a month. Let's be honest, I love winter but the summer is why I live in Alaska. 😁
@gingerale87 Alaska late spring is one of my most favorite smells, especially with a light rain. I was born there, left and kept coming back. Lived for a few more years after college working at the University, brother was stationed on Kodiak, aunt in Fairbanks owning a few businesses (Bagels and brew and Baked Alaska).
I realize it's Thursday but I moved on Monday and it succcccked - the main reason I have been AWOL. We still have random odds and ends at the old house and we are in the midst of a box maze. I am glad we are in the new house (it is a LOVELY house) but will be extra happy once we have actually unpacked. The only room that is habitable is the playroom since that is where our son spends most of his time. Priorities!
@MaximumEffort very cool! Late spring was hard for me to get used too. The dark sky but sun setting later gave an eerie tornado sky vibe that put me on edge at first. There are parts I miss about St. Louis (major league sports) but I love that 90% of the time I feel like I have no idea what's going on in the world and I am good with it. Obviously, I do stay updated but I feel like it is super easy to just not if you don't want. I need to do more traveling and would love to get to Kodiak but it's always so hard to be a tourist when you have to work! I can see why people keep coming back.
