    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 9/11, 23w2d
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a grapefruit
Upcoming appointments: June 2 for GD test and midwife appt.
How are you feeling?: I pulled a muscle in my butt/lower back on Saturday so walking has been tricky the past few days. Other than that I’ve been feeling good!
Rants/Raves: we’ve had some awesome weather over the past week and I’m just so happy about it. I love summer. ☀️
    Questions:
GTKY: What is the weirdest/dumbest/most interesting way you have ever been injured? I’ve broken 3 bones, all in very innocuous ways. The worst one was probably when I broke my arm on field day - 2 days before summer vacation started in grade 7. I had a cast on until mid July 👎🏼

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: A puffin! I love all penguins/puffins so this was an especially cute revelation for me
Upcoming appointments: I had one on Wednesday - docs are already starting to monitor me for potential warning signs for Pre-E since I had it with DD and am showing some issue already. Next appointment is early June for the GD test (yuck)
How are you feeling?: Light-headed, honestly. Not always, but enough to really put a damper on my ability to do things.
Rants/Raves: These past two weeks have been CRAZY at work. I have missed y'all, but am also so proud of my team. I will be going on maternity leave at the busiest part of our year but they make be truly believe they will be JUST FINE in my absence (it's kind of nice to not be needed).
GTKY: What is the weirdest/dumbest/most interesting way you have ever been injured? I broke up a fight between two college students once - the smaller of whom was like 5'5" and 130 pounds soaking wet (for context, I am 5'9" and way more than 130lbs). Despite her smaller size, she was determined to get at the other student and in the process, dislocated my shoulder. I ended up having to have reconstructive shoulder surgery and years of rehab. Let's just say I don't go hands on anymore lol.

@muggsd sorry about the pulled muscle! I'm glad it's just that though, and not the beginnings of sciatica because that would be no fun at all! I hope you heal and feel better soon!
  • sawasapsawasap member
@muggsd The butt muscle is an awful one to pull. Hope it heals up for you soon.

@JustAnotherUsername16 It's always so nice when you feel like you can leave work and not worry about it. I've been training my mat leave replacement and she's been doing really, really well and picking things up quickly. Looks like I'll be able to hand the reins over to her on the major work about a month before I leave and be able to clean up all the admin work that I've let slide while we've been crazy busy over the last year.

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 23w5d, September 8
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: A grapefruit
Upcoming appointments: Telephone appointment with my OB tomorrow, then going in for GD test probably first week of June
How are you feeling?: The heartburn is real. I have Tums next to my bed now so it's available when I wake up in the middle of the night. So far, it's not too bad during the day, unless I'm bending over a lot, but when I lie down it gets bad. Little guy is very wiggly these days, but still refuses to kick when my husband is touching my stomach.
Rants/Raves: We finally put our umbrella out in the back yard and I spent basically the entire weekend out there. And I moved my laptop out back this afternoon and worked outside today. The weather has been amazing and it makes me so much happier.
    Questions: NATM
GTKY: What is the weirdest/dumbest/most interesting way you have ever been injured? The weirdest one was when I worked at a restaurant that had an all you can eat fajita night once a week. One night, when I was carrying a skillet out to a table, something popped on the skillet and sprayed hot oil. I ended up with deep second degree burns on my arm and minor burns on my chest and face. Mostly healed now, but I have a nasty scar on my arm. I'm the only person I've ever met to be attacked by a fajita.

  • @muggsd yes to the summer weather!! I’m loving the warm! Usually the hotter the better IMO, so I’m curious to see how I feel when it’s August and I’m super pregnant lol

@JustAnotherUsername16 I’m glad your coworkers are ready for the challenge of you being out! It really is so nice when you feel like people will be able to handle things without you. I, on the other hand, and starting to get nervous about my leave coverage at work!

@sawasap currently sitting outside under the umbrella with DH while he finishes work, it really is the best to just be outside. Also your “be attacked by a fajita” comment made me lol

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 9/11 (23+2)

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a chinchilla (so cute!)

Upcoming appointments: next Wednesday, and then I’ll schedule my glucose test...is it really as bad as everyone says it is?

How are you feeling?: feeling pretty good. This tailbone pain seems to be sticking around but it comes and goes. Some days it’s really bad and other days it’s basically nothing. And I still can’t sleep which is annoying.

Rants/Raves: Work is ramping up for the crazy end of the school year spring to get things done. But I have a countdown going which makes it seem much less daunting! My to-do list is about 20 items long over the next 2 weeks (and doesn’t include the full time job of actually providing services to my entire caseload 😩).

    Questions:

GTKY: What is the weirdest/dumbest/most interesting way you have ever been injured? Oh I only get injured in dumb ways. My personal favorite is slicing my finger with a brand new knife when it fell off a cutting board. I thought to myself “don’t catch that it’s sharp”, and in the process of moving my hand away from the knife I somehow moved it right into the blade midair and needed stitches. That one is pretty classic
  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 23 + 5
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: barbie
Upcoming appointments: June 4th for my first in person OB appointment
How are you feeling?: I feel pretty good.  Still exhausted trying to juggle work, keeping the house clean and spending time with my family.  I feel like I have no downtime.
Rants/Raves: I have been contemplating homeschooling my son so I've been spending pretty much all of my free time doing researching on different methods and putting together some work materials. He'll be 3 in September so I am planning on doing a kind of test year before he is due to start public school to see if I can handle it.
    Questions: natm
GTKY: What is the weirdest/dumbest/most interesting way you have ever been injured? When I was 14 I tried giving two of my friends a piggy back ride at the same time.  I lost my balance and forward folded with the weight of 2 of my peers.  I assume I sprained my back but will never know for sure because my mom never took me to the doctor for it because she assumed I was taking the hunched over limp.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: A grapefruit

Upcoming appointments: GP appointment on Thursday, maybe the OB will have accepted my referral by then 🙄 And need to schedule a follow up ultrasound for next week.

How are you feeling?: Pretty good! Our weather went from cold and grey to absolutely beautiful last week and it’s been so nice! Spending as much time as I can outside and feeling so much happier and more energetic as a result.

Rants/Raves: We close on our new house this week!! Zoom meeting with the lawyer to sign documents today and then we get the keys on Thursday! Associated rant that my house is an absolute disaster now that I’m packing.

    Questions:

GTKY: What is the weirdest/dumbest/most interesting way you have ever been injured? Only dumb ways. The most recent was falling down the stairs the same day I found out I was pregnant. I had the hugest darkest bruise I have ever seen on my butt and it took weeks to heal; I can still feel it lol

@JustAnotherUsername16 and @sawasap So great that you’re feeling good about handing work stuff off for your mat leave! It makes it so much less stressful, I was so thankful that coverage for my position was internal so I knew I wasn’t leaving my team in bad shape.

@kissyfir1586 I compared the glucose test to drinking a melted orange popsicle, but one that’s maybe started to go a bit off. It’s not terrible but also not something I’m excited to do again.
  • @sawasap It’s brilliant that you get to hand over work before you leave and wrap up some lose ends during that time! As for the heartburn, are you taking anything? I suffer from this REALLY badly so my doc suggested over the counter Esomeprazole Magnesium – 1 pill a day. It has helped a LOT.

@runningoncookies The drink isn’t pleasant, but it’s not the worst thing in the world. I highly recommend drinking it cold and not room temperature. For me, the worst part was how light headed and miserable it made me feel for hours afterwards. In my first pregnancy, I almost passed out in the lab. On the bright side, I’ve never “failed” a GD test, so there’s that!

@deziraywatt I admire you so much for considering homeschooling! It is not an easy feat and even considering it is so powerful!

@lmcw YAY FOR CLOSING!!!!!! Packing sucks – I’m sorry your house is a disaster. To be fair, unpacking and moving things around while pregnant will also be super unfun. Here’s to hoping you can channel some “nesting” energy into unpacking and settling into your new home!

  • sawasapsawasap member
@JustAnotherUsername16 Not yet. If it gets worse than it is, I'll ask my OB for something, but for now one Tums takes care of it (and gives me a bit of extra calcium). If it gets to the point where one doesn't do it, then I'll look into something more.
  • lmcwlmcw member
@JustAnotherUsername16 Yeah there’s no winning, mess here, mess at the new house, all I can do it laugh and deal with it. We aren’t actually moving for a couple more weeks but it’ll stress me out more to leave the packing to later so I’ve been doing what I can for a little while; at least I can pack the winter clothes and my non-maternity stuff that doesn’t fit lol I’m really hoping 2nd tri energy sticks around and nesting kicks in to motivate me to unpack and organize at the new house!

@kissyfir1586 Yes, definitely try to get it cold and just knock it back! Not all of the labs keep it in the fridge though...very rude.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a Barbie doll!
    Upcoming appointments: glucola next Thursday
How are you feeling?: I have a sinus infection and it SUCKS because all I can do is take Tylenol and do nasal rinses. I had to miss a day of work last week because I couldn’t keep my nose from running, and we wears masks at all times at work.
Rants/Raves: I’m not a super big fan of easing on mask regulations while herd immunity has not yet been achieved with vaccination. I’m going to have to go back to curbside grocery delivery which is difficult because I live 30 minutes from any grocery store and won’t be able to just pop in to one during my lunch break safely anymore.
    Questions:
GTKY: What is the weirdest/dumbest/most interesting way you have ever been injured? Horses have the most interesting ways of injuring you! I don’t ride and never have, but I’m a veterinarian, so I have a lot of experience around horses. I’ve had my hand trapped under a sedated horse’s foot, been bitten on the back by one, and kicked in the elbow by another. It was after the elbow kick when I was pregnant with my first child that I stopped seeing horses altogether!

  • @williams-jen I absolutely feel you on the uneasiness with mask restrictions being lifted so quickly. I have a 4yo who clearly can't be vaccinated and the long term effects of COVID are still unknown - I feel a genuine need to protect her right now and that is a lot more difficult without mask mandates.
Also, I don't blame you for choosing to stop seeing horses as patients, lol!
  • @williams-jen Add me to the unease of the very sudden mask restriction lift! It really screws with parents of younger kids especially, not to mention those who are immunocompromised. I don't understand the logic of not at least waiting until we got to a point where all ages are able to be vaccinated. At least then I think we'd be relatively close to a level of herd immunity.
  • @williams-jen I agree with you about the masks.  Where I live, the vaccination rate is about 25%, and the percent positivity is starting to go up again, so not the greatest situation.  That being said, Instacart has changed my life, and I'll probably never go back to regular grocery shopping if i can help it lol

@williams-jen We are way behind the US in terms of numbers of fully vaccinated people, but watching the decisions down there is making me nervous. I'm hoping we don't move that fast. For me, there needs to be a combination of vaccination numbers and a significant drop in cases before I'll be comfortable going out somewhere with maskless people.
  • lmcwlmcw member
@williams-jen 100% agree, I get that no one LOVES wearing a mask (except for the fact that you can hide pregnancy acne and mutter about rude people without them knowing...) but I wish people would just suck it up for a while longer and put the safety of others over their own comfort. I'm encouraged by the evidence that a first dose gives good protection, but I want to see a higher percentage of the population vaccinated and consistently lower case numbers before I'd be happy about mask rules relaxing.

Also, YES horses really are wonderful at providing injuries! I used to ride and have been stepped on and squished against stall walls many many times lol

I was awake on and off for 2 1/2 hours last night and it’s already hot here today. All I want is to go and get myself the hugest most delicious iced coffee and mainline it.
  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 24 weeks
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: an eggplant
Upcoming appointments: June 8th I see my midwife and am doing the GD test
How are you feeling?: freaking tired
Rants/Raves: I keep coming back to this thread to read and start a reply but never post!
    Questions:
GTKY: What is the weirdest/dumbest/most interesting way you have ever been injured? I've severely sprained my ankle multiple times walking down the stairs.  Once at work and I needed PT for it, once drunkenly in a club in Vegas which made the rest of the trip very difficult.  I'm very accident prone.

  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 9/3 currently 24W5D
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: I think I saw cauliflower somewhere 🤣
Upcoming appointments: had my glucose test today 🤢
How are you feeling?: Still throwing up. It’s so random too. I’ll be fine and then I’m puking. It gives me zero time to get to the bathroom or anywhere. Yesterday I threw up in my car
    Rants/Raves:
    Questions:
GTKY: What is the weirdest/dumbest/most interesting way you have ever been injured? Snowmobile. Literally just went over a tiny hill and must not of gave my back enough movement to go with it and ended up breaking my L1 🙃
  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 9/13. 23+3!
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a grapefruit (I think?)
Upcoming appointments: Follow up fetal echocardiogram with the pediatric cardiologist next week, then I see my midwife again on June 8.
How are you feeling?: Pretty good! Sometimes baby positions his/herself in uncomfortable places, but I am dealing. I feel massive by the end of the day, too.
Rants/Raves: 21 days left in the school year. I hope I can make it.
    Questions: Nope, I think I'm good. :)
GTKY: What is the weirdest/dumbest/most interesting way you have ever been injured? I broke a toe walking into the corner of my couch. 🤦‍♀️ That's the only bone I have ever broken.
