Moving back here for now until I figure out what’s going on....

CD: 32

WAYDTGKU: PNV BBT OPK CM concieve+

R/R: totally blew my diet last night because I was stressed out so Im trying to get back into it now.

CS/Q: well my temp spiked back up. Looks like it did when I *thought* I ovulated last time. Ironically if this is ovulation this time I have the same timing. We will see, that delta between temps is still not quite 1/2 a degree. Let me know if you have any insight. I’m pretty much just going to wait and see the next few days what happens.

@daisy0322 I’m sorry your cycle is being weird and stressing you out. I’m a stress eater too so I feel that struggle. Hopefully you’ll be able to get right back into things though.

Lurking from tww

@daisy0322 ugh I saw you posted here and was hoping AF came. I’m sorry if I missed this but have you ever been evaluated for PCOS?

@gingermama29 oh my gosh friend, I’m so sorry. I know you were expecting this diagnosis but it’s really annoying that it is affecting the TTC plan. It sucks waiting but it sucks even more when you don’t know how long you are waiting for. You’ve had to wait so long to have another medicated cycle already. I hope you can talk to him soon and get a concrete plan in place.

@gingermama29 thanks I’m working on the last 10 lbs right now - I’ve lost 30. And l swear anytime I make progress I entirely mess it up the first time I’ve lost every pound 2 or 3 times. I’m so glad it looks like you won’t have to do the medication! Yay for ovulating 💕

@bows22 I don’t have PCOS I have POI and I was in menopause for a bit however I came out of it and started having cycles. So I’m at best peri menopausal right now.its a genetic disorder in my case. Also I have some other things that may be messing up my hormones too but I’m working in that it’s just hard. I’m not doing well with it.

@gingermama29 I'm so sorry. That really stinks. I hope you get some more insight from the doctor today. (((hugs)))

@daisy0322 Re: Blowing your diet. You and me both! I am also trying to be a good little doobie today. But we have all these cookies and ice cream left over from the weekend, just staring me in the face lol :# IKWYM with the temp spike. It will be interesting to see what happens. I have heard the .5 degree guideline as well, and I have noticed when I do get a nice spike it can even be as much as .7! But I have also had ovulation charts with more of a slow rise, and no definitive "spike" at all, but it still ends up looking biphasic overall. I do hope your body may still be ovulating, I guess we just have to wait as see what happens. (((hugs))) Hooray for making some timing, either way! :D

@BusinessWife thanks - I do know that over the next 10 ish years I’m expected to ovulate occasionally. So theoretically if I just stay on it I have a decent chance at a baby because apparently if I can manage to ovulate they say I’m pretty fertile it’s just that ovulating part turns out to be pretty freaking important. Hopefully my temp will continue to increase. I did get woke up for a few minutes about an hour before I temped because of MHs alarm but in my experience that actually lowers my BBT. I’m sorry your ovaries are acting up too. I hope your team has a good plan for you! Ovaries are definitely weird

Oh @gingermama29 I'm so sorry this never-ending cycle is...never ending. And for your disappointing news from your doc. *creepy internet hugs*

Month/Cycle: 2/2

CD: 8

WAYDTGKU: Tracking cycle/BBT/CM/CP, taking PNVs, using OPKs, HIO

R/R: Not feeling very ranty today (this is rare).

Rave - So, I downloaded Come As You Are by Emily Nagoski on Audible, and wow. I thought I knew so much about my anatomy already through TTC etc, but this was really eye-opening. I think every woman should read/listen to this book. It explains so much, and does a really good job of normalizing the conversation. It also points out a lot of the cultural norms that are oppressive toward women, and I'm like, nodding along and thinking to myself, "Yeah, that is so f*cked up!".

CS/Q: Not so much a question, but I'm thinking I'm using too many tracking apps, lol. Between Fertility Friend, Flo, and Femometer, it's just...a lot. And each one is predicting O on different days. FF says it'll be on the 24th, Femometer says the 25th, and Flo says the 27th. So, who knows? LOL

@daisy0322 I am sorry about lack of clarity on this cycle. As you said, if you keep at it, you might catch O whenever it comes. But damn, girl... it's so frustrating having to POAS / BBT every day for a chance that you might O a few times a year. I just don't know what to say. Hopefully the functional medicine doctor can help you out.

@gingermama29 ah man that really sucks about the diabetes diagnoses! Hopefully you get some clarity from your RE re: treatment soon, and that your PCP can help with diabetes management.

@BusinessWife sad lol about the weird ovaries club; I'm sorry that this cycles is full of mysteries! Did you have a baseline scan at the beginning of the cycle? Can one of the "follicles" be a non-functioning cyst?

@beakay8 eek about allergies; but more eek about the asthma! Have you ever considered getting an allergy shot? Hooray for great coffee though.

@babyodo haha; that does sound like a tad too many tracking apps. When I first started, I was using PreMom, FF, and Clue (because I had used it for many years for period tracking); now I'm just down to FF and it feels just right. I do get my temps via the TempDrop app, but I don't do anything it it other than set start of cycle. Also, and you probably already know this, unless you have a super regular period, and lots of data in the apps, app prediction isn't really good; so take that prediction as a grain of salt.

Month/Cycle: 17/17

CD: 6

WAYDTGKU: mid-luteaul IVF cycle #1, lots of vitamins and supplements for both MH and I to support a successful cycle

R/R: Had an MRI of my knee this morning; I've had chronic knee pain for many years now, and I finally decided to go see an orthopedic doctor about it. She said it was swollen and sent me for an MRI. Should get results in the next couple of of days and syncing up with the doctor again next week. I also went ahead and pre-booked all of my acupuncture sessions for upcoming stim/egg-retrieval. I'm sure some of these will have to change since my monitoring appointments will be early morning, but it's good to have someone on the books before my acupuncturist books up.

CS/Q: TempDrop failed last night so I don't have a reading. Temps are pretty low though according to Oura, as is RHR. I love that I've been monitoring RHR for a year now, so I can easily tell when it's LH surge just by looking at it.

@acleverusername I likely could get allergy shots, and may be worth asking next time I'm in, but I have a lot of pieces to my asthma control plan, and two things on there are to control allergies, so I'll definitely slot this as something to ask. Good for finally getting in to see someone about your knee!

@daisy0322 interesting stuff... I have no advice to give but :hugs: instead

@gingermama29 I'm sorry about the test results, but it's good that you finally got your positive OPK!

@businesswife I hope the Dr has some good ideas!

@beakay8 the pollen has been strong this year, even my poor little pup comes in sneezy from too much grass sniffing

@babyodo IF definitely increases anatomy awareness! I am always surprised though at how many people don't have A. SINGLE. CLUE... I had a (female) student label the female reproductive system, she labeled the uterus as the vagina, the vagina as the urethra, and the uterus was no where to be found.

@acleverusername I've considered acupuncture... what do you think about it?

@acleverusername Yeah, I did, and I didn't remember them saying anything about it, so... I feel like this one doctor should just not say anything if he hasn't totally read the chart (which like, however many people he sees during monitoring, how can you possibly do a full review of everyone). The doctor today just took the measurements and said okay, we'll have Dr. review everything and get back to you! Comes across so much more professional that GUESSING. <<<eye roll>>>

Month/Cycle: 1/2 (I think? I am still trying to understand this. Haha. We tried for our first time last month and I am now going into my 2nd month cycle & will try again this month... am I doing this correctly?

CD: 1

WAYDTGKU: PNV & OPK

R/R: I started my period today. I am actually a day early which NEVER happens. So that is kind of weird. Still surprised at how disappointed I was that I didn't conceive our first month of trying because I thought I had mentally prepared myself to realize that it likely would not happen the first month but I did not realize how hard the TWW would be & how it plays on you mentally & emotionally! I never thought about how hard the TWW would be & now I realize... it isn't fun at all! I have an OBGYN apt on Friday with a new OBGYN because I have decided I would like to go to one closer to home. I am nervous & excited about the appointment with a new OBGYN! Hopefully I like them.

CS/Q: Should I start tracking by BBT? I know it is only going to be my 2nd month of trying but I figured I could get a head start on learning how to do that & learning my cycle in case it does take me a while to get pregnant. I am using the Easy at Home Ovulation test strips & found them helpful my first month but I have heard/read tracking your BBT can actually be more accurate?

• Options
@cdc101 i think choosing bbt is a personal matter. Personally if your periods are regular and you don’t think you have any fertility issues that you are aware of I would wait a month or two. But that’s just me! I’m sure there’s others who would tell you start now. Do a little research on Dr google and spend some time looking at other people’s charts definitely then I think you’ll have a better idea of what you want.
• Options
cdc101cdc101 member
@daisy0322 Thank you! The charts kind of confuse me but I need to do more extensive research on that as well! I will definitely start looking into it some more before I decide.

I don't *think* I have any fertility issues but I also really don't know & am scared that I will. I think that is something every woman probably worries about at first though. We did everything we were supposed to do this time around (I feel like we did, anyway) & I know the timing has to be just right - but still can't help but wonder why it didn't work. I know I sound dramatic being that it is our first month trying, but all of these thoughts are racing through my head!
• Options
@cdc101 it’s okay to be nervous! Even if you “do everything right” there’s still only like a 20-25% chance of pregnancy in your mid 20s (I think you said your 24). Give it a little time. It’s normal to worry, it’s important to you but keep in mind it’s normal for it to takeout to a year too ❤️
• Options
@cdc101 I have a love/hate relationship with BBT. Love as in I love the information it gives me, hate as in I hate doing it haha. But I think it's nice so that you can at least confirm ovulation, it might be something to try for a month and see if you like the information it gives you. At this point now that I'm likely going to see an RE I'm thankful to have the charts to bring with me.
• Options
@jlbaker08 I love acupuncture, but I'm also unfazed by needles, and like to lie around relaxing. If you have an issue with either of those things, you shouldn't do it. (i.e. if you're gonna lie there thinking "what a waste of time and money" it's likely not going to have any effect.)

@cdc101 I'm curious about your comment re: bbt being more accurate. It's important to understand that BBT tracking will not help you predict ovulation (and yes, I know that in all the movies where couples are trying to conceive, they make you think that your temperature is a sign to get humping; it is not.) Changes in your BBT can help you confirm ovulation, but only if you're in the ~80-90% of women who experience a marked shift in bb temperature after ovulation. Not all do. So, make sure you know what exactly you're tracking before investing in a thermometer. Also, regarding your question about "Month/Cycle": sometimes, these 2 differ. For example, if your cycles are longer (i.e. 36 days), then by month 4-5, your Month and Cycle will be out of sync: you will be on Cycle 4 of trying, but on Month 5 of trying. The difference also happens when you have to miss a cycle of trying for whatever reason (i.e. you get benched, need to TTA, etc). More in spoiler because ***TW for CP, loss***:
God forbid, if you experience a CP or a loss, etc. that will also wreak havoc with your month/cycle combination.

@daisy0322 I am actually 26 (almost 27) but I would still like to think I’m mid twenties 😂 haha but thank you for your kind words!

@fameonmain2 I could totally understand having a love/hate relationship with them! I am trying to keep up with everyone’s stories on here in the TTC community but since I’m new I am having a hard time but wishing you the best when you go to see an RE! ❤️

@acleverusername So I am still learning but from what I had understood, after you do BBT for a few months and find out when you typically ovulate it can become more accurate / reliable than OPK even though you don’t find out until after you’ve ovulated, you eventually learn when you will ovulate. Does that make sense? My info could have been totally inaccurate as I am still in the beginning stages of researching! Thank you for clarifying the month/cycle thing! I am still trying to wrap my head around it since my cycles have always been 28 days but it makes sense! Haha
• Options
@cdc101 girl, I'm glad you're asking because you should NEVER USE BBT to try and predict ovulation. It will never be more accurate than an OPK, because there are SO. MANY. THINGS. that can affect your bbt. Shitty sleep? BBT affected. Had a glass of wine with dinner? BBT affected. Coming down with a cold? BBT affected. An OPK measures your biological ovulation trigger. That is, the luteinizing hormone (LH) that is released sends a signal to your brain to release an egg. And the OPK measures that LH hormone. So, if it's present, that means a signal has been sent to your brain and ovulation is imminent.

Now, suuuure, you will likely start to notice patterns the more you temp (for e.g. estrogen rising in your body will cause your basal body temperature to drop. But it can also go up a bit right before ovulation, and then you can have a fallback rise which might make you think you haven't ovulated). But like I said... every little thing can affect BBT and relying on it to predict O is a recipe for missing O. If, on the other hand, you're also using things like observing your cervical mucus changes, then you could only do BBT + CM. But OPK + CM is way more accurate.

Hope this helps.

@acleverusername wow thank you so much! That is super helpful & honestly makes me want to hold off on doing BBT because it sounds like it can get confusing & difficult! 😂 So I will probably hold off & if I don’t get pregnant in the next few cycles, maybe will start considering trying BBT again. Seriously, thank you!

Happy to be of help! I think holding off on BBT is a good call. Hopefully you won't need it.
