  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 21+1, 9/26

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: An endive but weighs as much as a can of soda? This is not helping me judge the size LOL

Upcoming appointments: Not for a few more weeks

How are you feeling?: EMOTIONAL. And a bit on edge? It might be the impending move stress and packing but I just feel like I could cry or scream half the time.

Rants/Raves: Getting a mortgage is so annoying with all the piddly odd and end paperwork and stuff. We also got the appraisal back today and our appraiser was really harsh on things that needed to be fixed. DH is working a lot this week so I might be hanging handrails and creating access panels to plumbing at some point 🙄

Questions: My 3 and 5 year old KEEP SCREAMING and it’s driving me nuts. I usually do a lot of positive/gentle parenting techniques but for the life of me I can’t get them to stop yelling. Right now they’re outside screaming because that’s at least an appropriate setting I guess 🙈

GTKY: What is the weirdest/dumbest/most interesting way you have ever been injured? When I was in middle school I stopped a toy ride on tractor with my foot and broke my ankle. Or at least we think that’s what I did. Two weeks later we realized it was broken and I was in a cast for a few weeks 🙈

Upcoming appointments: end of the month fora regular visit
How are you feeling?: lots of RLP...dreading sneezing nowadays 😬
Rants/Raves: Just got back from a little family vacation to Galveston , which ended up being a lot of fun. I've never been before and was pleasantly surprised.
    Questions: none
GTKY: What is the weirdest/dumbest/most interesting way you have ever been injured?  This was yearsss ago in college, but my friends and I were bowling, and my friend came up behind me as I went up to throw the ball and kicked my legs out from under me.  I ended up falling straight on my butt and bruised my tailbone.  Granted there was a lot of alcohol involved, and she didn't mean to actually hurt me, but i blame that as the beginning of all the back pain I have now.

@whatabout2ndbreakfast oh man, I know what you are talking about with the screaming!  Mine go through these phases, and I want to rip my hair out!  I hope this is a short phase they are going through for you!

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: A Wonka Scrumdiddilyumptious Bar

Upcoming appointments: 6/3 for a monthly checkup

How are you feeling?: posted in symptoms at the end of last week, but my nipples have been killing me lately. They were for a while but went away for a bit. Came back at the end of the week with a vengeance, air/clothes/sheets/movement everything feels like razors.  Insomnia has started, so that’s fun and I think causing me to be extra short-tempered.

Rants/Raves: Definite rant.  There is apparently baby shower drama going on. I was told a few weeks ago that I got to plan it, but I guess there’s plans going on and none of them are mine (which, whatever, but c’mon drama?!).  We’ll be having three separate mini-showers now.  Plus my mom made a comment about how I’ve already had a shower so it doesn’t really matter (9yrs ago and not with MH), so my husband is now sad/feels like he doesn’t matter and vented to me last night about all the drama I was unaware of.  That of course caused me to break down in tears bc all the emotions, and then I cried more bc he was already feeling bad and felt horrible that he made me cry.  I am now over it and don’t even want a shower, blah

    Questions: NATM

GTKY: What is the weirdest/dumbest/most interesting way you have ever been injured?  Getting off the ski lift with my snowboard.  It was the first run my friends trusted me to do by myself, they left me while they went to go do a run on a more advanced hill.  I wound up on the lift next to a little kid on skis, we get to the top of the lift and the kid puts his pole right where I would need to get off the lift.  I panicked a bit, realized I was running out of time to get off the lift, and tried to do a little hop over the kid’s pole.  I failed.  My board with my leg attached went to the left, and my body went to the right.  Took about 5 minutes before the guys in the little house even noticed there was a person on the ground not moving, they dragged me off to the side, ski patrol came, and I got patrolled down the hill.  I was told it was an ankle sprain, finished out the weekend and came home to get xrays. Xrays said it was a sprain, a week and a half later I got a call saying they looked at xrays again and it was actually a break.  It never healed quite right and I’m sure it was because I wasn’t treating a break for the first few weeks.  Ah well, them’s the breaks.

@whatabout2ndbreakfast Sorry the appraiser was so harsh, here’s hoping yh (and maybe you) can blow through the items that need to be fixed quickly

@penny624 Oh so I’m not the only one whose friends have kicked their legs out from under them? I figured I just had punk friends in college lol

  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 21 weeks exactly / 9/27

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: an endive (I agree with @whatabout2ndbreakfast, endive comparison is not helping me at all)

    Upcoming appointments: 4 weeks

How are you feeling?:  Kinda down and tired. Still having daily periods of nausea.

Rants/Raves:  rave - It's our 13 year anniversary today. I'm getting steak at my favorite steakhouse, so I'm looking forward to that!

Rant - went to the grocery store today. Picked up a 12 pack of soda, which was open on one end, so all the cans rolled out in every direction. About 5 people were in the vicinity and zero offered to help as I scrambled to pick up the cans. One lady even kicked one of the cans accross the aisle as she walked through the mess. She was like 70 years old, but even then I came close to being like "thanks alot for your help!" 😬

    Questions: natm

GTKY: What is the weirdest/dumbest/most interesting way you have ever been injured?

A few years ago, I was a bridesmaid at my friend's wedding. I didn't know any of the other bridesmaids, and they were all super quiet... We were all sitting there waiting for events to begin, in the most awkward silence, so I started hitting the champagne pretty hard. (I should mention I'm a total lightweight). About a bottle later, it was time for pictures, so I decided to get out the steamer to quickly get a wrinkle out of my gown. But I was drunk, and put the steamer together wrong. Boiling hot water and steam shot all over dress and my upper thigh. It was excruciating, and I felt like the biggest idiot ever because I had to do all the wedding photos with a giant water mark on my dress (they had to Photoshop it out).

What's even worse was that I ended up scoring a softball sized water blister that hung off my upper thigh for weeks. My doctor told me to not pop it, so it just hung there until it popped on its own 😂. I referred to it, affectionately, as my lady balls.
  • @runningonindie I have been thinking about how I've done nothing baby related so far.  I'll probably start going through the stuff we have stored in the next month or so followed by starting to buy the stuff we are missing shortly after that.  I think the second time around comes with a little less panic about all the stuff you need because 1-you know how little a baby really needs and 2 you have most of the things already tucked away somewhere.
  • @deziraywatt yes to all of this! I think also knowing we will be moving shortly after she’s born makes me feel like I should really have her living out of a single box for the first few weeks and then slowly unpack her with the rest of us in November LOL - this poor kid! I do need a new car seat and bedside sleeper and bottles because DD really used the crap out of hers. Otherwise I’m set so I guess there’s not much to stress about other than our move! 🥲🥲
  • @runningonindie this is kid #3, and I haven't done a thing yet lol 🤣 we have a 4 bedroom house, so we considered keeping a playroom, moving our two boys in the same room, and having the new baby in their own room.  Our 2 year old is like the energizer bunny when he is around his older brother though, so we decided moving them into the same room was probably going to make bedtime 1000x harder. So, not only do we have to clean out our current playroom to set up the new baby's room, we are also replacing the floors in all the bedrooms.  And the previous owner of the house did some remodeling to that side of the house, and the babys room has this god awful texture on it, so DH is going to see if maybe he can sand it down a little to try to fix it? 🤷‍♀️ So, everything is kind of on hold with buying anything new until all that's done.  Just talking about all this work is giving me anxiety lol.
  • @runningonindie We're not doing a nursery, but I plan to start setting up the bassinet and baby care areas around 30 weeks or so, in July. I definitely feel less stressed about "getting ready" for this baby! With my first I did a lot more to prepare, and made sure that we had a lot of things on hand, but with this one I feel much more relaxed. We already have most of the things we'll need before baby comes, and anything else that comes up I know we could get easily after they're born!

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 22w5d

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a guinea pig

Upcoming appointments: midwife, chiro, and therapy all next week

How are you feeling?: The last 2 times I went to the chiropractor, I felt pretty good and didn't really have any problems to address, but still went just to make sure I had regular appointments. This time, I CAN'T WAIT to get there. My body has been so sore and difficult to move around, and this baby is so low. I've started having some back pain, and it's harder to find a comfortable sleeping position.

Rants/Raves: It's officially summer over here!! I underestimated the amount of work that was going to land on me yesterday after finishing our last event, but I'm still so excited to be on my summer schedule. I'll be playing catch-up for most of this week, but will fully enjoy this weekend lakeside! My son is almost done with homeschool Kindergarten, we just have to finish 3 more days of math and language arts and then DOONNNNNNNEEEEE!

    Questions: nah

GTKY: What is the weirdest/dumbest/most interesting way you have ever been injured? I don't have any good stories, I've been lucky and avoided serious injuries for my entire life, even though I'm active! I did probably break my big toe at some unknown time that never healed right, so my flexibility is significantly reduced in that toe, but I don't know how or when it happened. For a long time I thought that I maybe had a weirdly high pain tolerance, but childbirth taught me that was not the case, just luck!
  • @Aerialmrs just curious because I've never been to a chiropractor while pregnant....are they able to do adjustments to your back or what are they able to do to help?? I've been in the past and used the spinal decompression machine for my back issues, which was AMAZING, and I'm considering talking to my doc about starting to go again.  I just didn't know what they were able to do while you're pregnant though!
  • @penny624 I don't totally know yet, I didn't see a chiro during my first pregnancy. But I'm resolved to do everything I can to help my labor progress faster and more independently this time. I had another injury at the beginning of my pregnancy that made me go in the first place, but now I'm continuing visits at approximately the same intervals as midwife visits to prepare for birth. So far, I just get pretty normal adjustments, but I haven't had many pregnancy-specific complaints until now!
  • @Aerialmrs let me know how it goes!  I hope they are able to help with the pain/ being so uncomfortable!
  • @runningonindie We really don’t have much ready at all and can’t set anything up until we move (hopefully in two weeks!). But I probably won’t have much really ready until more like 30 weeks? I don’t remember what I did last time 😂 I gave myself long enough to wash clothes and dig everything out.
  • muggsdmuggsd member
@runningonindie our nursery is sitting empty right now, so I’ve set a few things up because I would have had to pack them away into storage otherwise which is just as much work. With #1 I was super prepared at like 35 weeks (silly me, thought I might have the baby early 😂) and with #2 I got the diaper bag ready and had a few sets of clothes out. I was honestly more prepped for #1 to go to grandmas for a few nights with her bag packed, lists, schedules etc etc etc! At around 38w I grabbed our rocker/swing and playpen and just threw them in a closet in the nursery so we could pull them out quick. Other than that it was all after the baby was born!
  • I started to do this 4 times and convinced myself I'd already done it lol

    Endive?

    Upcoming appointments:
Currently waiting for the Dr! Then my GD test next month. Ew

    How are you feeling?:
Pretty great these days! Though my emotions are way more all over the place with this pregnancy. I think I cried 3x today for 30 seconds lol

    Rants/Raves:
BIL said he'd be out Sunday....guess who still isn't all the way out...

    Questions:
Any good or favorite nipple creams that I can try to minimize how much they feel like they're being sanded off?

GTKY: What is the weirdest/dumbest/most interesting way you have ever been injured?
Hmm...I cut my chin pretty bad when I was a kid. I had my brother's (empty) wallet from a Wendy's kids meal and he was chasing me around my grandma's house. She had hard wood floors, I was wearing socks, and went in for the slide around my mom at the desk to hide from him and my chin met the corner of a file cabinet drawer.

My other fave injury story, in my teens I somehow sliced a huge ribbon of skin out of my calf while shaving (must have been a new razor). My aunt asked why I was all bandaged up and I said "Oh I cut myself with a razor." I nearly gave her a heart attack and she said "WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT!?" Guess she thought I was being an emo teen and self harming.
  • @penny624 I am having the exact same anxiety!!! 😂😂 I feel this in my soul!!!
  • @penny624 @Aerialmrs I had never seen a chiropractor before until this pregnancy. She is an absolute life saver, my hips/lower back were a disaster and after the past few weeks I’m practically a spring chicken (combined with yoga and a belly band). She’s trained to work with pregnant women, there’s a panel that drops down in the table to incorporate the belly when she’s working on my back. She says there are a few things she would normally do with hips and the automatic pressure gun she has, but her personal preference is to avoid it just to be safe - which I am totally fine with.

Upcoming appointments: I think my next one isn't Intel mid June

How are you feeling?: Not too bad actually. Getting uncomfortable to do most things these days, and still exhausted from sleeping terribly but otherwise I feel alright.

GTKY: What is the weirdest/dumbest/most interesting way you have ever been injured?

LOL in my teens I went trick or treating with my friends (including DH back when he was either still just my best friend or we had just started dating the spring before), it was dark out and as usual I wasn't watching ahead of me. I walked into a telephone pole and my nose started bleeding alot. It actually didn't hurt that much at the time, but about a month later it was still super tender and even touching my glasses at all while I was wearing them hurt alot. Got an xray done about a month and a half or so after it happened and it turns out I had broken my nose.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: pomegranate
Upcoming appointments: regular 24 w appointment June 7 - last appointment with my current OB before switching insurance and practices in July!
How are you feeling?: still feeling pretty good but feeling HUGE..I don't think I will fit into anything but tshirts and leggings by 3rd trimester
Rants/Raves: We have just been so busy with getting our house put back together and planning DS2's first birthday party, but I officially have 7 work days left before transitioning to a SAHM and I'm so excited!
    Questions: natm
GTKY: What is the weirdest/dumbest/most interesting way you have ever been injured? hmm..I don't have any real injuries...so I'll share one from DS1 - when he was 2 we were living in Houston during Hurricane Harvey and we had been locked inside our house for over a week at this point...and we were all going pretty stir crazy and DS2 was playing "ghost" with a blanket over his head..he tripped on the blanket, fell into the corner of a table, busted his head. Blood was everywhere and we couldn't stop the bleeding so I knew he needed stitches...in the middle of a completely destructive hurricane. We had to drive through flooded roads and go to 3 different hospitals/urgent cares before someone would see us - hospitals were not taking any walk-ins - they told us to go home and call an ambulance if we wanted to be seen. Finally found an urgent care that was open and would accept walk-ins and got him stitched up and bonus the waffle house next door was also open (you know the world is absolutely ending if waffle house closes) so we had some waffles and all was good again!
  • @penny624 I think the last two hurricanes created a lot of improvement for Galveston! They kinda cleaned the city out and now it's a lot nicer! I grew up mostly in Houston, so Galveston trips were super common, but it's a lot nicer now than it was when I was a teenager
  • @grizzlymama86 I feel like getting off the ski lift is the most dangerous part of skiing/snowboarding for beginners! We took my 5 yr old on the lift for the first time this year and it was a huge sigh of relief every time we managed to get off without injury!

@runningonindie for DS2 I don't think we did anything until I was 34-36 weeks...and really only set up a changing table, the PnP in our room, and got his clothes out. For this baby I feel like all I need to do is get out the newborn clothes and set the PnP back up and we are good to go...it's so weird having nothing to prepare.

@whatabout2ndbreakfast my kids are so loud! They are naturally loud talkers so when they scream it’s like I can feel my brain rattling in my skull! Ugh.

@penny624 when it comes to sneezes, I’m not sure what’s worse- RLP or peeing my pants 😂

@grizzlymama86 I’m sorry for all the shower drama! Have the plans for the mini showers been finalized or is there still time to step in and do what you want to do?

@kissyfir1586 that injury sounds so painful! I got a steam burn on my hand last summer from our vegetable steamer and the blister lasted forever!

@runningonindie I don’t typically start baby prep until 34-35 weeks. We already have the furniture set up because we transitioned our youngest from the crib to a bed last September and, knowing we were going to start trying for a baby soon, we just moved the baby furniture into our office/soon to be nursery. But I won’t start washing clothes, bedding, etc until close to the end.

  • @emjeve I told my mother and MIL that I will answer questions they have, give them names, etc but I don't want to be involved with them anymore since its turning into a stressor.  My husband saw that coming, and enlisted our "quaranteam" (our hockey family).  They know what I want and are so thrilled for this little one, so they'll be throwing something separate from what the mothers are doing.
