  • I like the holiday season (Thanksgiving-New Years) in general, which is maybe an UO? I like all of the little parties that people have during that period, I like the food, and I like finding the right gift for my loved ones, I like the holiday music. I also am pretty excited to give DS his first stocking this year (we skipped it the last couple of years because he didn't know what was going on) I think he's going to be pumped. That said I am extremely lazy and am not into decorating - I'll do it for my son because I loved it as a kid, but we haven't done it the past several years because DH and I are both lazy af   :D
  • I always say Halloween but I think secretly my favorite might be 4th of July, because even though I'm a disillusioned, bitter veteran with almost no patriotism left in me, I just love having a summer holiday. When I was growing up we always had a big party/barbecue and my mom and I decorated cupcakes and we lit tons of fireworks and we got to stay up late and stuff. I do get annoyed at people lighting fireworks when it's really late into the night though and I want to go to bed.
  • That's tough because I love most of the holidays for different reasons. Halloween always makes my creepy little heart happy, but if I had to choose one I'd probably choose Christmas.  It is also DS's birthday so he just always lights up and is giddy for all the decorations and excitement the whole month of December.
  • You know you’re pregnant when... a thread about favorite holidays makes you cry.
  • I love halloween through new years. Just that time of year in general makes me happy. Halloween might be my favorite, I go ALL OUT on decorations and make a new homemade decoration every year. Its my goal to have our whole yard be a haunted house in a few years lol.
  • @chartput that part of the year is such a struggle for me, I like sweater weather but there is just too much to do during those month.  I'm talking at least 8 birthdays from October to December plus the holidays and trying to schedule which holiday I have to work and which I can make.

Easter is probably my favorite holiday, it's spring and the best food though Thanksgiving does have stuffing if its made right.
  • I don’t think I do have a favourite just because like the rest of you, there are so many that I love for their own reasons (Halloween, thanksgiving, Christmas). I didn’t realize how much I’d miss 4th of July and thanksgiving once I moved here and Halloween just isn’t the same either. I will say I LOVE the way the UK does Christmas though.

  • Jackie once told me that on Halloween like, one number put out one pumpkin and that was it 😂
  • @doodleoodle yep 😂 no one decorates and in the 5 Halloween’s that I’ve I’ve spent in the UK I’ve had ONE trick-or treater. Total. In 5 years. And I live in a suburban city. 😐

@Starynightsky24 We also limit the family who gets gifts. Though for us, DH and I have 6 parents total (due to divorce and remarriage) and 3 of those also have birthdays in December. That's 9 presents in December for parents alone. I'm getting stressed just thinking about it.  :#
  • @Starynightsky24 last year we told everyone we were only buying gifts for our kids and it was amazing. Most people also elected not to buy us gifts at that point- which was also amazing. I think I’ve only gotten a few gifts from outside of my core family that I’ve ever actually enjoyed. Let’s all just save our money, people! Invest a little extra in our IRA instead of buying Aunt Kate a $30 scented candle she’ll probably never light because she hates the scent.
  • @Starynightsky24 in both DH and I's family, we draw names and have like a secret santa and have a $$ limit. So everyone gets one really nice gift and then the rest is focused on the kids. We just do this with siblings and parents though.

@Starynightsky24 @chartput We also started drawing names a couple years ago between siblings with a $50 limit. It take SO much pressure off everyone and allows everyone to focus on the kids instead!

From late September to the end of December is my favorite time of year. DD’s birthday is at the end of September, less than a week later is DS’s birthday in early October. Halloween. My birthday in November, DH’s a week later. Thanksgiving. Christmas. My SIL and her husband come in from out of town for Christmas, and it’s just so nice to have everyone together.
  • @jackie_dunny UK Christmas is the best! I have my birthday on the 11th, then it's all Christmas prep from then on!

I thought this thread was about holidays e.g. vacations so I'm glad I read it first. Such a Brit 😂

I LOVE Halloween, and I’m secretly hoping this baby comes early on Halloween. Lol
Not a secret here! With a due date of November 1, I think I have a solid shot! How cool would it be for your birthday to be Halloween?! Your birthday parties would always be LIT.
  • @freakymagoo @sliztee I'm in the exact same boat 😆. DS came on Christmas day. I want holiday babies dammit! I'm Nov 8 so while there is a chance not sure it is likely.
  • @jenharvey84 I thought you would 😂 I almost put (not vacations) in the title lol

I only went to 33 weeks with my first, so I hope to go longer but I’m very doubtful I make it to my EDD!
  • @freakymagoo DH and I are (hopefully) attending a wedding this coming Halloween, otherwise I wouldn't mind this little one coming on Halloween either! Due date is 11/9 but my first was born 12 days ahead of due date so definitely a possibility..
