January 2022 Moms

Weekly Check-In 5/13

I noticed that other BMBs have divided their check-ins by when you're due (like, one thread for January 1-15, another for 16-31) but until there's more of us, maybe we'll all just do one for now?

Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days:

Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out:

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of:

Upcoming appointments:

How are you feeling?:

Rants/Raves:

Questions:

GTKY: What kind of music are you into? Favorite band, artist, genre of music?

Re: Weekly Check-In 5/13

  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: January 2/6w4d

Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Pink - thanks IVF and PGS testing!

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: sweet pea

Upcoming appointments: Ultrasound with my RE 5/18

How are you feeling?: Good overall, but my nausea gets worse as the day goes on. I'm insanely thirsty all the time, like, uncomfortably so.

Rants/Raves: I'm just stoked that my kids started back at day care at the exact same time I got pregnant. I had both kids at home with me all day for over a year because of Covid, and dealing with all that while being 1st trimester pregnant would've been so tough.

    Questions: nope

GTKY: What kind of music are you into? Favorite band, artist, genre of music?  My musical tastes are completely stuck in the mid-90s. My favorite is Smashing Pumpkins, but I still listen to Soundgarden, STP, Bush, Veruca Salt, Garbage, Depeche Mode... lately I've been getting more into 70s rock. Don't ask me to name any current bands or artists, haha.

  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: Jan 17, 4w3d

Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: finding out. I love the idea of being team green, but I just don’t have the patience!

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: poppyseed

Upcoming appointments: phone call June 15

How are you feeling?: a tiny bit of nausea in the evenings, and I’m realizing I’m going to have to start eating breakfast or I’ll feel the same way in the mornings.

Rants/Raves: none so far, I’m still so new to this pregnancy that it almost doesn’t feel real yet. We’ve been on the fence about selling out home and upgrading. We want to, but this market sucks and I don’t want to buy a house and then have values drop in a couple years. So that’s what’s on my mind now.

    Questions: nah

GTKY: What kind of music are you into? Favorite band, artist, genre of music? Mostly pop, but I also spend a lot of my time listening to mid 2000s music. I think it brings back a lot of nostalgia from when I got my first car and would just drive around with friends listening to music.

@Lisa3379 I know what you mean about having the kids at home during first tri. I’m a teacher so I keep my 3yo home with me during the summer and I’m sitting here thinking “am I really going to be sick during the summer?” I obviously didn’t think this one through 😂

  • @Lisa3379 thanks for starting!!

    Ahhhh I love Depeche Mode!!

Also I've also been extremely thirsty lately. So annoying!

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: Jan 5, so 6+1

Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: team finding out! Probably will do another genetic screening thingy around 12 weeks

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: sweet pea

Upcoming appointments: first appointment with the OB on 5/25! DH gets to come because there's an ultrasound, so I'm happy about that.

How are you feeling?: TOO NORMAL. My nausea/weird stomach feeling is definitely worse in the early AM and in the evening/overnight, but I'm still pretty hungry (and thirsty) and have no aversions. Just waiting for the other shoe to drop and it to get bad, because I was miserable last time.

Rants/Raves: rave I guess, but I'm happy I can still work out! Less nausea means I can attempt to keep up all the strength gains I made in the last year.

Questions: is it too early for maternity pants? 🤣 I was gonna wear my comfy work pants today but realized I was too bloated. I have the exact same pair in maternity style, and almost pulled those out. Thankfully my pair of normal jeans has an excessively large waist on me normally so I was able to wear them instead

GTKY: What kind of music are you into? Favorite band, artist, genre of music? Hard rock/metal and now exploring epic metal/symphonic metal (combines my love of classical music and metal/rock, so it's great!) Current fave bands: Chevelle, 10 Years, Nothing More, Starset, Ghost, Muse, Seether, Asking Alexandria, Bring Me The Horizon, etc (many of these are kid friendly with no foul language 🤣. I was losing my mind listening to Frozen nonstop so I switched our commute music and had to find appropriate tunes)

  • @Lisa3379 90s music is my jam too! I can hardly listen to current day music.

  • @appleblossom8317 yeah my anxiety couldn't handle not knowing girl or boy. 🙈 Plus (UO alert!) I think gender neutral clothes are kinda boring...I'm so over the neutral tan/beige/"natural" scheme 😬 give your baby some color, please! at least toddler clothes are better at gender neutral, I found a super cute mint green dinosaur Easter egg hunt shirt in the "boys" section and bought it for DD. 🤷‍♀️
  • @appleblossom8317 I also keep looking at new houses. We'll have to move our two boys into the same tiny room with a new baby, and while I think it'll probably work out fine, if we just had one more bedroom, it would be sooooo much better. Prices right now are insane, though! So we're also playing with the idea of renovating, but good lord, that just sounds like a nightmare. Moving three kids out of the house into a rental for 2 years? Ugh.

@pajamstagrams I'm so jealous you can still work out! I technically can, but I have to keep my heart rate low until they clear me for regular exercise, and my main form of exercise is the Peloton. Slow, leisurely Peloton sounds so boring, so I don't even bother. I just substitute it with more housework - that's activity, right? Haha. And it's never too early for maternity stuff. I'm in the weird area of my normal pants being tight, but then my postpartum pants are too big, so I'm just generally miserable in my clothes. Joggers every day it is, then!

@magalina_h Evanescence! That's totally my go-to when I'm in the car alone and I want to sing along to something. Love them.

@fifilala516 Billy Joel is great! He's one of those artists that I would never think of to listen to, but when I hear his songs, I'm like yeah, these songs are freaking great. "The Downeaster Alexa" is probably my favorite by him. SO GOOD.
  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 1/7 5+6

    Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: finding out

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a peppercorn

Upcoming appointments: still waiting for my referral so I can get scheduled

How are you feeling?: exhausted and irritable. And by irritable I mean just angry most of the time lol

Rants/Raves: it’s finally going to be warm this weekend!

    Questions: nope

GTKY: What kind of music are you into? Favorite band, artist, genre of music? I listen to a little bit of everything. I default to Your Favorite Coffeeshop on Spotify

  • @Lisa3379 I should probably watch my heart rate more, it jumps up SO QUICK now, easily going above 150 BPM, and even just doing chores spikes it. But I feel like as long as I can sing a song, I'm good 😂 that's close enough to the "have a conversation" metric. And I would totally wear joggers, but I'm voluntarily back in the office (mostly) full time, so I gotta wear real clothes. Thankfully black jeans are totally acceptable at the moment.

@MrsJessS oooh definitely irritable, I'm with you. I have to remind DH it's not personal 🙈

@fifilala516 ain't nothing wrong with backstreet boys. I'll definitely jam to them if they're on the radio!
  • @appleblossom8317 never too early for comfy pants!!

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: January 16 / 4w4d
Team Finding out, I think.. need to confirm with hubby.
Baby is the size of: Poppy seed.
Upcoming appointments: June 8th for US confirmation!
How are you feeling?: The fatigue is real! I also have thoughts about how to prepare racing through my head.
Rants/Raves: Wish I didn't feel like this was too soon! But my body is ready.. and I'm only getting older!
Questions: When are you telling family? I'm enjoying not having my mom being over protective of me.. and she is always hinting about the shot.. I'm not on board with that. So it might take me a little while to gain some courage.
GTKY: What kind of music are you into?- I like dance music... Kind of a guilty pleasure.
  • @Limes030 I won't tell my parents until after my U/S in 2 weeks. Honestly I bet my mom already suspects, we see them every weekend and I haven't had wine 2 weeks in a row 🤨 I'd love to wait longer, but between the lack of drinking, inevitable diet change, and bloat getting pretty bad, I can't hide it much longer. Also, I had told her I would never get the vax while pregnant, and I turned down the opportunity she gave me a month or so ago while still TTC, sooo I'm pretty sure she knows I'm at least trying at this point. 🤷‍♀️ I realllly hate the attention being PG gets from my family (I swear if one person tells me I'm "glowing" or "showing" I will punch them, and I have straight up told them, "yeah that's sweat, and I'm not showing, that's my poop belly because im constipated").
  • @Limes030 My situation is probably different, because we went through IVF and our families knew about it, so our immediate families know already. If we had conceived naturally, we'd probably wait until after our NT scan, just to make sure everything's cool. We'll probably tell our kids after the scan, along with extended family.

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: January 7th. 5 weeks 6 days.

Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Finding out! Last time with DS I did the 14 week sneak peek ultrasound. This time I'm kind of intrigued by the sneek peek blood DNA one. Do any of yall have experience with those? You can find out at like 9 ish weeks.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: An apple seed!

Upcoming appointments: Monday a "phone apt" 🙄

How are you feeling?: Excited! Bloated!

    Rants/Raves: Happy its ALMOST Friday!

    Questions:

GTKY: What kind of music are you into? Favorite band, artist, genre of music? Oh gosh my Spotify is alllll over the board. Literally anything from Fleetwood Mac to Disturbed to house/ elctronic to classic rock and old school country. I'm a mutt when it comes to music!

  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days:

    January 8... 5 weeks 5 days

    Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out:

Definitely finding out! Hoping 34 almost 35 counts as geriatric so I can get the blood test because I’d hate to wait till 20 weeks! 🤞🏼

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of:

a friendship bracelet bead (one app lets you change it to 80s/90s nostalgia instead of boring fruit and i love it 😆)

    Upcoming appointments:

May 24th phone only!! 😩 I get the whole waiting till 8 weeks thing but to not even be seen in person to me is ridiculous! I believe it’s to go over my history and confirm I’m pregnant (guess we’re facetiming me peeing in a stick or they’re taking my word for it? who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️) but I hate not being checked out. Hopefully I get an in-person visit soon after!

    How are you feeling?:

Tired but I’m a pre-k teacher and a mom so i’m always tired. I am so anxious and checking for blood every time i pee. I’m not nauseous, my boobs feel fine. I never had symptoms with my other 2, but each time it’s like I never feel pregnant till I see the little bean on the screen! 😩

    Rants/Raves: Haha I feel like I’ve ranted enough! 😆

GTKY: What kind of music are you into? Favorite band, artist, genre of music?

I love 80s rock, and 80s music, classic rock, and dance music. Absolutely anything but country. Favorite bands are Scorpian and Def Leppard. Hairnation on Sirius XM is almost always on 😆🤘🏼

  • @laurabridget country music is truly the worst. I listened to it a lot growing up, and I can't stand it now.  You've also got me lol'ing imagining you showing your pee stick through video chat 😂😂

@firewife2021 I've heard sneakpeek is easily contaminated, and sometimes it's wrong, but I don't have any experience myself.
  • @pajamstagrams My absolute worst fear is thinking the gender is one and it be wrong. I have no preference boy or girl. I'm just a planner.  I will probably do the 14 week ultrasound at a specialty places I think some even do 13 weeks. What's another 7 weeks lol 😆.
  • @laurabridget, as long as you'll be at least 35 when baby is born you are considered geriatric - or the new PC term, Advanced Maternal Age (AMA).

@appleblossom8317 we've also thought about selling to get a better layout and extra bedroom.  But I think we've decided to stay put because the market is INSANE.  Yeah we'd get a ton of money for our house - but we'd have to do the same + compete to get into a new house.  Not worth the added stress. We can't really change our layout or # of bedrooms right now, so my summer will be spent cleaning out our office/craft room to convert it back into a nursery.

@Limes030 we told both sets of parents last weekend on Mother's Day.  We will/would them if something happens to the baby too, so that's my reasoning for telling early.  I've also told a few close friends.  I'm waiting until after my 1st appointment to tell coworkers, and fully publicly announce on July 4th.

  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 1/7. 5w6d

Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: really hopimg to be green this time. DH doesnt thi k i can wait. I'm hoping i can

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: A BB pellet

    Upcoming appointments: Jun 2. @ 8 weeks

    How are you feeling?: TIRED.

Rants/Raves: funny weird, not funny ha ha. But MIL claims its twins. A friend claimed twin girls in Jesus name. DS who is 4 says 2 boys. All unbeknownst to each other. Guess we'll see.

Questions: any STM + gottem pregnant within a few minths of giving birth. ( its really kinda makimg me anxious)

GTKY: What kind of music are you into? Favorite band, artist, genre of music?  I'm very eclectic. Although I do love some 70s and 80s. Despite only being in my 30s. Plus elvis Presley and patsy cline.

  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: Not exactly sure until my ultrasound...my cycle is all over the place,  but I’m thinking about 5 weeks.

Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Finding out for sure.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: A grain of rice!

    Upcoming appointments: May 28th

How are you feeling?: I’m really tired and the morning sickness is kicking my butt. I didn’t experience the MS with my girls so it’s brand new for me lol.

Rants/Raves: We closed on our first home today so that was exciting. I’m just not looking forward to the actual move 😬

GTKY: What kind of music are you into? Favorite band, artist, genre of music? I love all kinds of music so it’s hard saying a favorite. My car playlist is very versatile lol.

This is exciting. Maybe this will help my nerves!! I am so nervous for our upcoming 7 week ultrasound and the other boards are more quiet.

I know mentally it is normal just scary. This is our first baby. I only had 2 days of nausea, but nothing bad except Friday of last week while at work. But sore boobs when touched, and exhausted.

@sheenaco symptoms coming and going are normal especially this early. I have to remind myself this a lot.
  • @pajamstagrams It is hard to remind yourself because it is almost reassuring when you have symptoms. I keep reminding myself only the ultrasound will say the next steps.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Poppy seed

    Upcoming appointments: June 2nd + June 16th

How are you feeling?: Pretty good. Sometimes nauseous and tired, but mostly feel normal. My boobs get sore, too.

Rants/Raves: Neither? I feel super chill, and it doesn't feel real yet.

    Questions:

GTKY: What kind of music are you into? Favorite band, artist, genre of music? Obsessed with Lana Del Rey. I feel like she is truly a witch because I've been listening to her nonstop since 2012, and always just go back to listening to her albums after little spurts of creating different playlists on Spotify. OH! Also just went through a big Doja Cat phase...can really relate to her Juicy song - makes me actually like my big butt LOL
