Re: May Appointments

  • We have our 2nd on Wednesday, 5/5! Doc confirmed we'll have an ultrasound (high risk reasons) so I'm excited to see our bean again!

  • First U/S is this Wednesday. Been waiting almost 3 weeks for this. Very nervous. Will be relieved once its over, especially if it has postive results. Will be 7 weeks that day.
  • Had my first OB appt today with a scan and everything looked good at 8+5!! Long intake given my complicated history. Going to try taking Pepcid during the day since I’m so sick after dinner. She thought it may be acid related. Also going to try some miralax to try to keep things moving since I feel so much pressure on my stomach.

  • Second ultrasound this afternoon AND blood sugar test. 😕 It'd be nice to have DH at the appointment, but he has to stay home with DS because they don't allow kids. Don't feel like asking family to babysit the kiddo for a doctor appointment and having to spill the beans yet.
  • I had my first u/s today. Baby was measuring 7w exactly with a heart rate of 169. It's 3 days behind what my temping shows which the tech said isn't a big deal so I'm trying not to stress. She also did an abdominal u/s instead of a vaginal u/s like I've always had this early with previous pregnancies so I wonder if those are slightly less accurate? I'm going to try to ignore PGAL brain and be happy for a good scan and heartbeat.

  • Had to push up my first appointment to tomorrow. My blood pressure has dropped significantly (most likely due to dehydration but I work in healthcare and can't really take my mask off). So just going in to see how everything is going. I'll be 6w2d.
  • @kats0727 good luck tomorrow.  Hope all is well!

    @kats0727 How did everything go?

I don't know if it's Covid related of why but my OB office has been so lax about appointments, blood work, etc. I had a call with a nurse yesterday to go over some things and she JUST ordered my bloodwork to confirm pregnancy lol. Then set up my first appointment with the doctor when I'm 12 weeks? My last delivery was super traumatic and I just was hoping for a little bit more reassurance. I did pay OOP for bloodwork through Quest and set up an Ultrasound for Monday at one of those standalone places. I'm hoping when I finally do get to talk to the doctor I can see if I can maybe get a little bit more monitoring? They also said that my husband can't tag along for my appointments... which I kind of get but it just sucks and adds to the anxiety!

@brookert615- that does seem too lax!! Have you been in at all yet? It seems standards to have a dating scan between 7-9 weeks? Perhaps you can call back and ask to be seen sooner?

  • My doc already had me do the initial glucose test since I had GD with my son...which I failed. I've got my 3-hour fasting one on Monday, and every time I think about it I have to try to stop myself from having an anxiety attack because it was so traumatic. It's cruel to make a pregnant woman go without eating for 11-13 hours, especially when going 2-3 hours without a snack exacerbates the nausea! If anyone has any advice, please share.

Ugh yuck. I barely failed my 1 hour test with my first and then miserably failed the 3 hour test. After I barely failed the 1 hour test with my second I just agreed to be called gestational diabetic again and check my sugars because I had such a bad experience with the 3 hour test the first time. Would that be something you’d be interested in or would you rather take the 3 hour just in case you pass? I’m sure you know you’re more likely to have GD if you’ve already had it. Good luck whatever you decide!

  • @mockingjay1 I didn't know the 3-hour test was optional.  :/ I know the statistics are not in my favor, but maybe I'm being optimistic that things could be different. Thanks for the response and support.
  • Blood glucose appointment update: I've got GD again. Here we go. Prayers appreciated.
  • @rdfree32- I'm sorry :( that is alot to handle for a while. I'm hoping they are supportive in helping you manage it!

  • @RDFree32 Ugh I am so sorry!

@JamieH2000 Apparently it’s normal, I just got the paperwork today with appointment schedules. Just weird! If I didn’t like my OB so much I would’ve switched lol.

  • @RDFree32 ugh sorry :(  I am really hoping to avoid it, but I feel like because I'm so much unhealthier all around this pregnancy it might be par for the course.  Fingers crossed I'm wrong.
  • @PrettyPalomino- yay!!! Congrats on graduation!! And what a relief there is only one :) I felt the same. Twins is too much risk for me after last time! When do you see your OB now?

  • @JamieH2000 thanks!! Not too sure when I’ll see her for the first time, I think it’ll be around 12-13 weeks, around the time of my screening U/S. So no more activity for a while.

Hope you’re starting to feel better!! I’m really looking forward to 2nd tri so I can actually eat better and move around more without feeling 🤢.
