  • @chartput I have not told my manager yet, though seriously considered it at my last 1:1 with her (last Wednesday, the day before my first real ultrasound). I really just wanted the reassurance of that ultrasound. Now that I have it, I'm fine with her knowing whenever, but will probably wait to tell her at our 1:1 next week. Also +1 for loving the Headspace app. I also saw recently that they have a series on Netflix about optimizing your sleep and it's definitely on my list to watch some day. I wonder if the fun animations would keep the attention of my toddler?...

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 13+0

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a peach!

    Upcoming appointments: June 1

How are you feeling?: Tired but otherwise can't really complain

Rants/Raves: I had a prenatal massage scheduled yesterday that was a pain in the butt to schedule (the scheduler messed up and I had to reschedule because she scheduled me with someone who was not certified to do prenatal massages) and I had taken a half day off work so I could go to my OB appointment in the morning (which I woke up early for so I could fit it in before the massage appointment). When I got there, I was turned away because their policy is not to do massages in the first trimester (annnd I was 12+6 yesterday). I've had a membership with this place for 4 years and the best they could offer me was another rescheduled appointment, an "I'm sorry" and a free add-on (roughly a $15 value and because I'm pregnant, my options there are limited too) (and I had to really dig before the free add-on was offered up to me, which it ought to have been automatically included with their apology). So bummed, I was really looking forward to that massage! And the no-massages-in-first-tri policy is totally just to cover their own butts from a lawsuit in the event of a miscarriage. The American Pregnancy Organization says it's safe in all trimesters provided the person is prenatal certified). Clearly I'm still feeling a bit salty about it.

    Questions:

GTKY: what’s the best way to start the day? Waking up on my own (not to the alarm of my phone, cat, or child) and feeling well rested.

  • @chartput I told my direct supervisor at 12.5 weeks and have told/scheduled a meeting with my boss for next week. I wanted to tell sooner because we were figuring out the academic calendar for the fall and I was signing on to things that I am now going to have to back out of but I didn't feel comfortable since I've had first semester losses before. I think you should tell them when you feel like it's an ok time, no need to add additional stress.
@mayoduck noooooo that it the worst! I would have been so mad. But you remind me that I want to schedule a prenatal massage.

    Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 13+5

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a lemon

Upcoming appointments: Monthly appointment next week, although I've basically been in every week lol (yesterday to diagnose the UTI). At least I get to hear the baby on the doppler!

How are you feeling?: Definitely better in terms of first tri symptoms subsiding. I still need to eat all of the time and I'm very tired. You know, the usual.

Rants/Raves: I guess I'm glad I didn't get a UTI while I was peak queasy? But damn, I was just starting to enjoy feeling semi-normal again!

    Questions: none rn

GTKY: what’s the best way to start the day? A cup of tea with a view as @jac@jackie_dunny says is pretty much my dream, but if I can't do that then a quiet cup of tea in the kitchen before anyone else wakes up.

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: lemon

    Upcoming appointments: end of may

How are you feeling?: very gross and blegh today, but felt great over the weekend so I was due for a shitty day or two lol

Rants/Raves: just generally hate being pregnant,  but DS has been extra sweet and helpful lately so he cheers me up a lot.

    Questions:

GTKY: what’s the best way to start the day? Not nauseated with coffee or tea while my child plays quietly by himself for at least an hour

  • @doodleoodle hahaha ded :D . Ok, ok, next time I'm near a Panera I'll try one and report back!
  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 11+4

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: Bee Hummingbird, pretty cute!

    Upcoming appointments: 17th May, ultrasound

How are you feeling?: Depressed, bored, sick, body aches and tired - I feel like somedays I have the flu and others I feel like I am on the mend. I really can't predict anything!

Rants/Raves: Rant ~ trying to tell my non-baby friends about my upcoming arrival is giving me so much anxiety that I am dreaming about it often. Raves ~ Cleaner came today so the house is looking good!

GTKY: what’s the best way to start the day? Not feeling sick  :s but seriously I love walking to the local coffee shop and getting a mocha and sitting in the sun, enjoying it, before I have to get back to real life. Obviously that is when I am feeling good, threw up quite a bit last night so today isn't the best

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: playing card or an original 1977 Star Wars figurine 🤷🏽‍♀️

Upcoming appointments: Friday with the midwives. Can’t wait.

How are you feeling?: SUPER sleepy. Everything else is not as bad as before. Still Achy, sore, lower back pain. Heartburn this week isn’t as bad and other than that can’t wait to be off these HG meds and see how my body holds up. 🤞🏽

Rants/Raves: We were able to get an earlier appointment with the pediatric surgeon for my daughter and have a better idea of next steps. I’m relieved we’re addressing the issue sooner rather than later and of course still heartbroken and anxious that she has to go through any of this.

    Questions:

GTKY: what’s the best way to start the day? Well now that @RoseShadow873 mentioned crepes that’s all I can think about (yum 🤤). I’d wake up on my own at a reasonable hour (not woken up by my toddler or DH grinding his coffee), there would be warm crepes and a delicious cup of lavender earl gray tea and I’d get to enjoy those few moments of solitude and quiet looking out the window, lost in thought or reading a few pages of a book before anyone else woke up.
