What habits/goals are you focusing on? How are they going? Eating right and moving my body - how are they going? Lol. That’s all I’ll say.
What has you motivated or struggling? Can I just say the first trimester in general? Fatigue, nausea, etc. I’ve found it really hard to do anything after work.
What's a "small win" you have from last month? I managed to get my yoga in on the weekends which is good!
GTKY: What mystery do you wish you knew the answer to? I wish I knew for sure if there were ghosts and aliens. I believe in both but I wish we had definitive proof. And I wish I knew how it all worked.
What habits/goals are you focusing on? How are they going? Just trying to eat as healthy as possible and move when I can, but not making myself crazy.
What has you motivated or struggling? Just taking it a day at a time. My nausea calming down has helped the most. My body was rejecting most fibrous foods this first few weeks, so it was so nice to have a salad again.
What's a "small win" you have from last month? Just doing small bursts of exercises whenever I get the urge. My energy has still been pretty hit or miss so it feels nice to do SOMETHING when I can even if it's small. (My autocorrect changed "small" to "anal" 🤣🤣 I almost missed it)
GTKY: What mystery do you wish you knew the answer to? I would want to know once and for all what happens after we die. Most of my anxiety in life is existential lol and it would really help to just actually KNOW.
@jackie_dunny I would also like definitive proof of ghosts or aliens. I have no doubt that there is similar life somewhere in space. The intense scale of it all, mathematically no way we are the only ones. And I've always loved and been fascinated by haunted things and ghost stories 👻
Okay okay okay, @artsiefartsie - agreed that it’s impossible that intelligent life doesn’t exist elsewhere in the vast universe(s). To a certain degree, I’ve been in the camp “nothing matters” because we’re a part of a simulation and DEFINITELY failed - much of this general malaise began during the Trump years and gets stronger the further we get down the global warming hole. So, maybe there’s other universes where we get it right, and humans can exist in harmony with all species and therefore make contact with other intelligent beings? Does that make sense? Even if I don’t believe in any one theory, for some reason this one comforts me.
@sliztee yeah, my brain is very skeptical/logical about everything so while I'm absolutely fascinated by all things supernatural I think most are probably BS.
I will say though I've had some very strange unexplainable things happen in my life, that have made me question everything. I was a hardcore atheist most of my teens and early 20s but now follow just a general "spiritual" path (for lack of a better term), but my skeptical brain always immediately goes to "okay, how the hell can I logically explain this?" 🤣
Sorry for the rambling, I love these kinds of discussions. I'm a big ole weirdo
What habits/goals are you focusing on? How are they going? Trying to exercise. It's not easy when you feel like a slug most days.
What has you motivated or struggling? Motivated - when I have small happy moments like driving in the sun with a coffee to go see my friends in the city. Struggling - still vomiting on the regular. Seems to be my new norm.
What's a "small win" you have from last month? Went out for lunch today and didn't vomit.
GTKY: What mystery do you wish you knew the answer to? Afterlife please. Is there anything there? I'm an atheist who wants to believe in something but alas science brain makes me struggle. Like if there was a higher power it definitely is not a woman otherwise men would be the ones suffering morning sickness 😜
@artsiefartsie Well, if enjoying these conversations makes you weird, then I guess I’m weird too.
My husband (physicist) put it in the most simple terms when we were discussing atheism (which we both are):
One doesn’t need to prove that a higher power does not exist, but for those who do believe to prove that a higher power does exist. That’s how science works 🙃
What habits/goals are you focusing on? How are they going? Like a lot of the other people that have already commented...Currently trying to eat healthy and stay consistent with exercise, but the nausea and fatigue have made this pretty difficult 🙃 Here’s to hoping that the second trimester will be better!
What has you motivated or struggling? Motivation- My husband is actually being awesome at keeping me motivated and working out with me/cooking for me! He’s been a champ so far!
Struggle (TW) - Telling people I’m pregnant, I had a MMC in the winter (we found out after having told our families we were pregnant) and I still have a lot of anxiety surrounding this pregnancy because of it 😕
What's a "small win" you have from last month? I love reading and have a goal to read 110 books this year, and I’m 5 books ahead of schedule! ☺️
GTKY: What mystery do you wish you knew the answer to? I’ll have to second @jackie_dunny ... I feel like it would be awesome to confirmation on ghosts and/or aliens!
@sliztee yeah, you can't prove a negative. I hate those illogical arguments.
Even no longer being atheist, I still feel like ultimately faith/ religion is just to make ourselves feel more comfortable with existential dread lol and everyone needs to believe in whatever makes them feel better in the here and now because that's all we really have. No one has any clue what happens afterward.
@artsiefartsie I love the weird and the supernatural (it's just so fascinating to contemplate and think about "what if?!" even if it's all in fun and I don't really believe in it).
What habits/goals are you focusing on? How are they going? My main goal is staying on top of my daily PT exercises to protect my weakened core as best as I can during this pregnancy.
What has you motivated or struggling? I'm staying motivated by knowing if I do nothing or not enough, this pregnancy is going to make my separation so much worse and more difficult to recover from. I'm struggling when I don't make the time to do it earlier in the day and then have to muster up enough motivation at the end of the day when I'm crazy tired.
What's a "small win" you have from last month? I saw my PT on Friday and she said I went from a 4.5 finger separation to 4 and that any closing of the gap is unusual when you're actively pregnant... so yay!
GTKY: What mystery do you wish you knew the answer to? Afterlife is a good one. On a similar thread, what really kickstarted the universe?
Hey @knottie856576fcac00c4da Not sure if you’ve posted before because without a unique username, it’s hard to remember who you are and it’s hard to tag you therefore interact with you! I recommend changing your username (:
What habits/goals are you focusing on? How are they going? Trying to focus mainly on diet right now. I gained about 6 lbs prior to my surgery in the first 8 weeks! Who knows now, Im dreading getting on the scale Im so bloated. I've been giving in to cravings too much.
What has you motivated or struggling? Right before surgery I was really getting back on track with exercise and now I cant lift anything heavier than 10 lbs for 4 weeks. Im also worried that my core is going to be really weak from incision. @mayoduck I'd love to know what kind of exercises your PT has you doing. Is it for diastasis?
What's a "small win" you have from last month? I started doing more activity.
GTKY: What mystery do you wish you knew the answer to?
I love the aliens/ghosts debate. Im personally inclined to believe both. I think we would be too arrogant to think we are the only living creatures in the whole vast universe. My MIL also has like a "sixth" sense. We have an old graveyard in the woods next to our house and there is a headstone of a 7 day old infant from the late 1800s, and some others we cant read and she could sense happiness and a good feeling coming from it. In the same token, she was on a tour of an old prison in ohio once and almost passed out going down one of corridors because of the bad vibes she was getting, she couldnt finish the tour.
@chartput Oof, that must be tough avoiding lifting anything heavier than 10lbs for a month! Appendectomy, right? The exercises are targeted for strengthening and protecting my core. I have a diastasis and hernia from my last pregnancy. My PT has me doing floor marches, bridges, clamshells, and raising/extending one arm or leg while on all fours all while engaging my transabdominal muscles. I have no idea if they'd be appropriate while healing from an appendectomy
@knottie856576fcac00c4da I think you may need to logout of the bump and then back in again. If that still doesn’t work, I think I’ve heard of people needing to login to The Knot? There’s a link about it on our *READ FIRST* thread
@mayoduck Thank you! I'll ask my surgeon when I do my postop. I'm worried about getting a hernia with my bigger incision with this one. Not being able to work out and having an expanding uterus while trying to heal abdominal muscles does not seem like a good combination. The one good thing is it happened early enough that my uterus isn't that large yet. I can't imaging trying to heal in the third trimester.
