Trying to Get Pregnant

Twins with Clomid?

Has anyone had experience with clomid twins? Has anyone had any luck with clomid in general?

Re: Twins with Clomid?

  • This is “TRYING to Get Pregnant”. You’ll have better luck on other Bump boards where people are actually pregnant. That being said, the IF thread here (Infertility) has many of us who’ve used Clomid. You may want to ask about Clomid experiences there.

  • My 'Second Opinion' RE told me I was just 'too fat' to have living kids and wouldn't prescribe me a low-dose of Clomid to attempt to see if it could help me have healthier eggs until I lost some magical number of pounds, so I didn't even get a chance to try it for a singleton, let alone more.... But hey, thanks for bringing that up.

@stormageddon-darklordofall wtf. I am so sorry.

EDIT TO CLARIFY the wtf is for your second opinion not your posting here. that's terrible healthcare. I am so sorry you experienced that. I'm so angry reading that.
  • @anniemarie887 and @beakay8 Oh yeah... fun times.  As he kept pointing to some stupid weight chart.  FYI, the magical number was 21.  I needed to lose 21 lbs. (from my exact weight post-4th MC)  Which IRONICALLY was 7-8 lbs. heavier than I was at my first MC.  So after being chastised for an hour about losing said 21 lbs, I basically was like "So, 1st RE was a douche who wants me to pay for IVF even though they have NO idea what's wrong with me.  And this guy/second opinion RE ran more tests, still has no idea what's wrong with me, and thinks that me being 8-21 lbs. over some magical weigh is what's killing my babies.  And that if I just lost that weight, I'd have the same MC chances as if I did IVF, so I should just lose weight and save my money because he didn't think IVF would help me more than just losing weight.  Awesome.... SUPER fun times..."

  • @stormageddon-darklordofall I am effing screaming over here. This is seriously abysmal care and I am so, so sorry this happened to you. I know that doesn't make it any better, but it's all I can offer you. That's so much BS.
  • @beakay8 Yeah, I agree!  I never went back after that (to ANY RE actually).  I did start beachbody and worked my butt off for like 5-6 months.  I don't lose 'weight' easy... so despite looking the best I had in years, losing a TON of inches, being thinner and more muscular, I only dropped 10 lbs.  So I called the office to explain my situation and what I was doing.  That I REALLY wanted to go forward with trying the low dose of clomid while I continued my diet/exercise.  Legit nurse reception lady was like "Well, your charts says to lose 21 lbs. before attempting pregnancy. So you need to lose 21 lbs, and you haven't." and that was the end of that.

I'm like... biotch... people on "My 600 lb Life" have kids at like 500 lbs.  F off.

  • @stormageddon-darklordofall good grief. I know we live in the same general area, but I think you may be further out? Are these REs in the city that is close to us? Just curious if either is the one I go to because it wouldn’t shock me.
  • @bows22 Since I live outside the DC metro area, I've gone to 2 clinics down there.  #NoShame I went to Shady Grove Fertility in Towson the first time and the Maryland Fertility Clinic the second time. (ironically, AGAIN, the Maryland Fertility Clinic helped my overweight therapist have a baby back in the late 90s)

  • @stormageddon-darklordofall YIKES! also, like duh, health 101 = muscle weighs more than fat. i really despise BMI being used as this end all, be all guideline. that being said... i'm in baltimore... i love my obgyn if you are on the hunt for someone! she's in towson.
  • @anniemarie887 Totally not meaning to be nit-picky, and I get what you're saying, but a pound of muscle = a pound of fat. It's just that muscle is more dense than fat, so yeah - someone who has been building muscle may not lose any weight, but it still overall better off. And @stormageddon-darklordofall, that story is terrible, I'm so sorry. Blaming all maladies on weight is just lazy medicine.
