Any new symptoms? No just symptoms lessening up, thankfully! Except mood swings. That’s worsening which is really frustrating

Any appointments recently or coming up? How did it go? First scan is in 9 days!!

What are you most looking forward to/most nervous about with this pregnancy? Pretty excited for our first scan! Can’t wait to see if everything is going smoothly and to see this little beam wriggling about

    Questions for FTM, or STM+?

GTKY: what skill would you like to master? The first that comes to mind is languages. I know a small amount of French, a little bit of Spanish and sign language, and I’m conversational in Italian and Greek but I’d love to be fluent in at least one other language

Any new symptoms? Been having more cramping. Just mild, although today I had one brief sharp pain that almost made me double over. Hoping its just my uterus expanding.

Any appointments recently or coming up? How did it go? My second sono is on thursday. We will be 8+5 which is how far along we were with our first pregnancy, when we had our first sono and found out we had a mmc. We've already seen a strong heartbeat with this pregnancy, but its still nerve racking.

What are you most looking forward to/most nervous about with this pregnancy? EVERYTHING lol

Questions for FTM, or STM+? How's everyone doing with physical activity? Ive always been very active, borderline crossfit at times. I wasnt able to workout during fet and for the first 2 weeks after, but now Im so tired I find it hard to have any motivation when I get off work to do anything.

GTKY: what skill would you like to master? Ditto with the languages. I live in south texas and I can understand some Spanish, but I would love to be able to speak it with my patients.

Any new symptoms? Oh just same
... the constant nausea, stomach issues, a UTI, and now a yeast infection. Wonderful!

Any appointments recently or coming up? How did it go? Got an ultrasound at urgent care because I had troubling pain and everything looked fine. That messed up all my appointments moving forward though. US healthcare is so baffling!

What are you most looking forward to/most nervous about with this pregnancy? At the moment I don't want to be pregnant anymore because I feel so unwell :( I've forgotten how it feels to be myself.

Questions for FTM, or STM+? How do you deal with severe depression? :(

GTKY: what skill would you like to master? The ability to exercise during pregnancy!
  • @chartput I’ve been struggling to exercise as well! I was doing great in the beginning and lost 12lbs before becoming pregnant but it’s completely stopped for about a month. I was waaaay too exhausted after coming home from work to do anything let alone exercise. My energy levels are starting to get better though (at 10 weeks) so I’m going to see if I can start squeezing it back in to my schedule

@jenharvey84 oh hun my heart goes out to you ❤️ I’m so sorry you’re having such a hard time. Have you spoken to anyone about how you’re feeling? Family, friends or a professional? I suffered from severe depression recently (for the second time in my life) and it’s HARD. Especially during these times. I would definitely reach out to your doctor. As for what helped me, moving each day and releasing those natural endorphins. Even just a 5 minute walk around the neighborhood. Another thing that really helped me was the app Calm which is a meditation app but I now swear by it. DH and I were actually just talking yesterday about how it turned my life around. It was something that my doctor recommended when I was struggling and I was like, an app.....really? But I was willing to try anything and like I said, I’m glad I did. And finally, BE KIND TO YOURSELF! That’s the most important thing. Give yourself as MUCH time as you need. And that goes for everything. Give yourself time to heal and give yourself time to do even the simplest of tasks. If you have a negative thought, think to yourself “would I be saying this to a friend or stranger?” And then try to think instead what you’d tell your best friend if they were in your shoes and start telling that to yourself. That’s another thing that really helped me. We’re all here for you as well ❤️

  • @jenharvey84 I’m so sorry. I just had an ugly cry with DH because I felt/feel the exact same way today. Some days are worse than others and today I don’t want to be pregnant anymore because I’m so miserable and haven’t been myself for so long and then I beat myself up bc I feel so guilty thinking that way. It’s really hard but the sickness will end eventually. Take it super easy, be super gentle and kind to yourself. And keep reaching out.

@jackie_dunny thank you for everything you wrote. I’ve been trying the meditation apps. Some days they help, some days they don’t. I second everything you said and will be trying some of those other suggestions out too. It’s been a rough time, but know there will be an end to it.

Sending so much love your way @jenharvey84 I’m with you. 💕
  • *lurking STM * but just wanted to send love to you guys.  Pregnancy is REALLY hard, and all of your feelings are normal and valid.  What always helps me is setting aside time to just have a good cry/vent session and to always remember that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and these feelings will pass. The "alien in my own body" feeling instantly went away when I gave birth to my first.  I promise you will feel like yourself again.  ❤

I'm also in the camp that most of the "pregnancy is a magical time and I feel like a glowing goddess" is a myth,  or at least the exception and not the rule.  So it helps to remind yourself to not compare your experience to someone else's highlight reel. Also I regularly go to counseling, just to have a scheduled time to unload everything with a professional who can help you navigate everything is wonderful.  I highly recommend it.

Overall just be kind to yourself,  don't add guilt to all of it. You are still a wonderful mother even if you don't enjoy every second of pregnancy, because honestly it's awful.
  • *lurking STM* Big hugs to everyone not feeling the "magic" and anything and everything you're feeling is ok to feel (but definitely do find a professional to talk to if the feelings are in any way overwhelming or you think something may be wrong. It takes so much strength to ask for help and we all need extra support at times. I've gone to therapy for feelings I had postpartum, and it's SO much more helpful than trying to push through on your own). Add me to the count of people who are not a fan of being pregnant. Some people don't like the newborn stage, some don't like the toddler stage, it's ok not to like the pregnancy stage. It's not an indicator of who you'll be as a parent.
  • How far along are you? 8+5

Any new symptoms? Nope... my queasy-ness has gone away but the heartburn is so intense!  I actually got worried last week because I had a few normal days then that ended on a pretty hard note.

Any appointments recently or coming up? How did it go?  Had my first appointment today. One healthy baby with no concerns from the doctor so yay for that.  He does have some concerns with my job but we can work on modifications.  I like the guy..  said recommended weight gain is subjective, just wants me to eat well. 😉

What are you most looking forward to/most nervous about with this pregnancy?  I'm most looking forward to that time where I look pregnant and not fat with a burrito belly. Though I do enjoy a good burrito belly.

Questions for FTM, or STM+?  None at the moment

GTKY: what skill would you like to master?  Gardening.  I really need to master to continuous seeding for like carrots, lettuces but really I could probably do it if I didn't work full time. 😫
