Symptoms - April

Re: Symptoms - April

  • @mbradfo2 ugh im sorry.  I hope you were able to enjoy dinner, or at least keep it down.  fx tomorrow is better.
  • @scaredunprepared
My husband made me eat some dinner and that did actually help a bit (since an empty tummy can make nausea worse). I'm feeling better today thus far but still have wicked heartburn. I kept clearing my throat because of it and DD asked me, "Mommy, are you okay?"  :D

  • Took a shower, did my hair, got ready for church, and promptly collapsed on the sofa. This energy tank is on fumes. DH is singing 1st service and I'd be solo with the kids since no preschool workers come then. Thinking today is a watch online kind of day. DS2 is being exceptionally cuddly and heart melting, so that's a big plus.

@mbradfo2 I had a similar experience too! The nausea is awful! My instinct is to avoid eating when I feel like that, but I have been trying really hard to push through and not do that. Last pregnancy I immediately became super sick at 6 weeks and stayed that way into the second trimester. Tomorrow is 6 weeks, curious how this will go!
  • @therealfrizzle
I belong to a small church that doesn't stream >.<  So I'm usually stuck, esp. because DD likes going to their Sunday School. No couch mornings for me on Sunday :(

I was feeling better nausea this morning so I had the brilliant idea of getting Indian for lunch. I chose the most basic food for myself -- tandoori chicken and naan with a bit of mint chutney. I am regretting that idea now...My tummy is very grumpy.

  • @mbradfo2 that sounds delicious. I adore Indian food but we haven't had a good place nearby since the move when DS1 was 6 weeks. Sorry your tummy didn't appreciate it :disappointed:

I ended up going to church and we stayed for both services. The boys thought Daddy had left us and were so confused why we couldn't go. It was nice. He didn't know we were there until he finished his song and DS2 let out a loud, "yay, Daddy!" We stayed 2nd service so the boys could do children's church. It's great to see how much the kids enjoy their Sundays.

  • @mbrado2 and @therealfrizzle- that’s so nice you have churches you and the kids like!! We have been meaning to try one that is great for families, but covid hit right when DS dropped his morning nap and we were planning to try it out. Maybe this summer!!

anyone else have symptoms that come and go? Messes with my mind Sooo much! Only thing consistent is the exhaustion each day. Probably just my anxiety creeping up before my scan on Tuesday

My symptoms totally come and go -- I feel absolutely fine sometimes! I wouldn't stress to much about it -- everything I've read indicates that real symptoms don't usually start until around 6 weeks.

As for our church, I actually discovered it because DD goes to their preschool! It felt just like the church I was in as a child and I was really comfortable right away -- which I can't honestly say about my previous church in the area. It's also nice to drop DD off in the Sunday School and go grab breakfast before service :D

  • @JamieH2000 I'm the same. I'm just over 6 weeks and my symptoms come and go as well. I have way more symptoms then I had with my son though which was basically I got sick once the whole pregnancy and the rest of the time I didn't even feel pregnant. This time the symptoms and nausea come and go. Wishing you well on your scan Tuesday!
  • @mbradfo2- you are 6 weeks now I I believe?! I love turning a new week :) your church sounds great and a good Sunday school is so key to helping kids like church. How are you keeping busy until your scan on Friday?

@kaitcrystalline- wow, it would be amazing to feel good the whole time! I just imagine it should be like last time, where I was so sick I was on diclegis 4 times a day from 7-20 weeks. I think once we all get some heart beat scans, hopefully it will be easier!! When is your first scan?

    Yep! 6 weeks today!
As for keeping busy, I've given myself projects around the house -- yesterday I reorganized DD's room and put down a new rug. I have some chores to run today so that will probably keep me distracted for quite a bit!

  • @JamieH2000 I'm not 100 percent sure yet. My midwife appointment is tomorrow so I'm sure they will schedule one during that appointment :)
  • @srprins1987 yay for you! I’m getting my second shot Thursday (got my first not knowing I was pregnant) so I’m sending all the good vibes your way! I went back & forth on getting my first one not thinking pregnancy was even a possibility, and definitely have some reservations about the second but I’m going to do it.
  • @srprins1987 so happy for you!  If it makes you feel any better, I got my vaccines before I knew I was pregnant.  I am just trying not to overthink it.
  • rgn12rgn12 member
@midwestmomma2 yes I keep googling the same thing!! I have been feeling pretty okay for the most part too, especially when I am more distracted! But when I have down time I find myself noticing my nausea and fatigue more.

I actually had my first situation yesterday where I thought I would going to have to jump off of a conference call for work. Luckily I kept it together. One perk of working from home I guess. I distinctly remember dry heaving and gagging with a trash can in my lap in my car before going in with my first. That was awful, haha.
  • @midwestmomma2 I'm always googling too - as moms, it's what we do - worry about everything!
  • @midwestmomma2 Constant googler over here too! With my first baby I had no symptoms, like none whatsoever. It was the easiest pregnancy. This time around I have more. I'm having a lot of gastro issues. I'm lactose intolerant and normally I can handle dips like ranch and such but my body is not liking it at all right now. I just keep drinking water to try and flush my system.
  • @kaitcrystalline isn’t it crazy how different it can be with each pregnancy? Hoping as the time goes on it gets better for you!!
  • @kaitcrystalline I am having the same experience.  Last pregnancy barely any symptoms, super easy and pleasant pregnancy.  So far this time the bloating, GI issues, and nausea are already ramping up, so it will probably not be that easy for me again.
  • @scaredunprepared How are you doing? My indigestion is super bad. I'm hungry but nothing seems appetizing.
  • Not sure if this helps anyone but I had nausea and insane food aversions my whole pregnancy. There’s this drink mix called Sparkling Mama that I got on Amazon that saved me. Things seem to be the same so far with just feeling sick and I just want COLD stuff. So lots of veggie sandwiches, salads, etc! I made a pea salad today which hit all the spots and was able to get calories in!

  • Everyone is so different! I have whole boob soreness- very different than my usual post-ovulation nipple pain. Light cramping that feels almost exactly like pre-period cramps, which is making me constantly nervous. On and off nausea but mostly off, which is good. The nausea is what inspired me to take my first test!
  • edited April 2021
@kaitcrystalline ugh sorry nothing is appetizing.  I hope you were able to eat something and keep it down.  As much as food might be unappetizing, it's important to maintain nutrition as much as possible.   I am doing ok.  Nausea is persistent and basically always present except little moments here and there.  I am able to eat and no food aversions yet, but definitely feel like I have less cravings because I am feeling sickish all the time.  Headaches have started which are a fun addition.  My doc reminded me yesterday to embrace these symptoms because they are proof of hormones doing what they need to do.  It was a nice, positive way to look at it.

ETA:  @brookert615 if this continues I will need to look into sparkling mama, thanks! What is it, exactly?
  • rgn12rgn12 member
@brookert615 I am going to have to look into the sparkling mama!

I have been so nauseous the last week or so. I got sick right at six weeks last time, so makes sense I suppose. I was hoping to be one of those lucky ones this time around hahaha. But it’s okay, trying to embrace it and hope that it means things are working. PGAL has been a difficult mind game to “play.”

Headaches are also here, hard to tell if it’s from my insane allergies or the pregnancy hormones. Maybe both!
  • Starting to feel the nausea like lots of you- started a few days ago at 6 weeks. I’m starting to feel a strong aversion to meat/chicken too which makes me SO sad- really hoping that’s very temporary as we are huge meat eaters in our house!
  • Possible TMI alert.  A new one for me that's disappointing and really not like me is that I have 0 sex drive.  I usually have a high drive, and when I was preg with my daughter i was all about it.  Right now I am so far at the opposite end of the spectrum.  I am not used to this and am feeling lots of conflicting emotions about it.  Blah.
  • @scaredunprepared that’s totally normal. With my first two pregnancies I had no sex drive. I tried to stick it out for my husband but he knew I wasn’t into it so he didn’t want to either... we went almost those two entire pregnancies without sex. It sucked. Thankfully this pregnancy I haven’t noticed any dip in sex drive yet but it very well May happen. I hope for your sake you notice a change in your second trimester!!

  • Anyone else feel completely bloated? I had to change into a loose dress mid-morning because the waistband on my pants was just feeling extremely uncomfortable. I still feel like a whale though.

Anyone else dealing with bad allergies? The sensation of the post nasal drip is making me feel on the verge of gagging (or actually gagging/dry heaving) at all times. I have one more hour of work today and I am counting down the minutes... ughhh. And air fresheners and strong smells like that are making me feel sick!

  • Like most of you there have been some bouts of feeling dizzy and nausea, but nothing too crazy yet. My first pregnancy I had nausea right at 7 weeks and it only lasted a week but it was bad! I'm only at 5w/2d but have been super exhausted come 8:30 when I put the other two kids down. The past two nights I woke up at 2am and haven't been able to fall back asleep, like I'm super exhausted and can't keep my eyes open but my mind just won't rest. I chalked it up to the new anxiety meds I'm taking. I will probably have to switch to taking them in the morning.
