My answer is colored by the fact that my car is on its last legs -- the computer is starting to fail - and my husband wants to get me an electric car. He has a Bolt (Volt? I can never remember the name) and loves it so he's been looking around for one for me. If my car wasn't struggling, it would probably be just fine -- it's a Focus hatchback with a decent amount of room.

We’ve been looking at getting a van for a few months now, because our current car is just not working great for our 20 month old. It has the “suicide doors” in the back, so you literally have to get in the car to properly get her in her car seat. It was fine with the infant seat, but not with the convertible. I’m one of those people that always said I’d never get a van, but ironically DH convinced me!
I have been saving for a van for a few months! Waiting until we get closer to put down a good down payment but mama is GETTING HER VAN! With 3 kids it will be a life saver!
@rgn12 My DH is very very anti-van. He will literally get any other car first! He thinks vans are boring (and his car is his baby so it matters a ton to him). Funnily, a month before the embryo transfer that resulted in our daughter, my car completely broke down and we had to replace it. He gave me his Focus hatchback and...-drumroll- bought a 2 door sports car (and MANUAL not automatic. I can't even drive a manual car...).
About a month or two after our daughter arrived, he realized the error of his ways!
I suspect once DD is older and I'm shuffling her and friends around, I might be able to get him to buy a van for me at least. Right now my poor Focus looks like a toddler whirlwind went through it...goldfish, cheerios everywhere, an old sippy cup, random toys...

I had already started shopping a newer vehicle, then we got BFP, so now I'm *really shopping. We probably won't pull the trigger on anything until mid summer, though. We road trip a lot and my vehicle is the one we take, plus with a teen in sports, and now a new baby, momma's set on a full size SUV with a 3rd row.
We just upgraded to a minivan in January with the mindset of adding a 3rd, so we're already there! I am so so happy with the minivan. I never thought I'd be that kind of mom, always wanted a huge SUV, but here we are and I wouldn't trade it for the nicest Yukon or Expedition!

@mommaduck2490 I want a full size SUV too, but DH is set on an electric car

We eventually will upgrade to a full size SUV. We also have a camper and take it out all summer so it’s a good vehicle for towing children AND campers.
That’s a few years off though. For right now we’re keeping our traverse. It has third row seating, so it’ll do. All be it a bit cramped.
@therealfrizzle what kind of van did you get? We’ve been looking at Odysseys and Siennas. Also, what are your thoughts on leather vs. cloth for little ones and car seats?? I can’t ask any of my friends right now or they’ll know what’s up 🙈🤣
@rgn12 we got a Chrysler town and country. We've only had leather seats for our main vehicles, but I do prefer them. Easier cleanup. My car that I've had for 10+ years is cloth and we sometimes have DS1 in there has a few stains we can't remove easily.

Hubby told me I'll have a new one before next baby comes. My little Equinox isn't going to fit 3 kiddos, especially with 2 massive car seats. I haven't mentioned it to him yet but I know it will be coming. We don't really have a choice. I want some sort of Chevy or GMC big SUV like a Tahoe or Suburban.
We just got a new nissan pathfinder a few months ago, but that's my husband's car for the most part. He wants a truck next. Lol nope. Mama is getting a Honda odyssey if I have my way! But honestly I haven't thought about it much. My sister has an odyssey and I love it, though.
