Re: Product Spotlight: Maternity Clothes w/o 3-29

  • I am really struggling here right now. I found one good pair of jeans from Gap but my first pregnancy I borrowed a lot of clothes from friends and this time I'm dealing with some of the clothes I bought myself first time around and trying to add a little more without breaking the bank. I kind of had a bust with buying a bag of stuff from FB market place so I think I am going to go through everything and try to sell some of the stuff that doesn't work and try to buy more. I'm also at a really in-between spot right now where none of my regular pants fit, some of my regular shirts still work but most maternity stuff is too big.

  • I highly recommend ThredUp! That's where I have bought most of my maternity stuff (except for pants/workout clothes). The clothes are second hand but in great condition.

  • I have a love/hate relationship with maternity clothes.

I love how comfy they are, but hate that most companies stop at size 18 in maternity sizing. I normally wear a 20. ugh.

I started using Stitch Fix late last year, and am actually still able to fit into some of the stretchier pants they sent me before I requested maternity stuff. I should get my first maternity box soon, so I'm excited to check that out. My coworker used them and was happy with it.

My true "maternity" underwear and pants are from Motherhood. I'd recommend watching their prices though, because they constantly have sales.

and if you do use ThredUp, I learned last pregnancy to look up the clothes on the actual brand's site. Sometimes they're just as cheap (or cheaper) new if the brand is known for sales.
  • @marymh80 I second Motherhood sales. I have a few items from H&M but they wore out so fast. I’ve found motherhood to be much higher quality and if you can hit the sale the prices are comparable.

@krash_ im in between too and mostly living in sweats. It feels weird to buy new mat clothes to work from home. But it also feels weird to wear sweats 24/7 everywhere I go.
I also kind of hate all my old mat clothes.
  • somehow I’m on third pregnancy and don’t have much maternity clothing that’s going to work for being big in summer. I found one pair of full panel shorts and two dresses at a local thrift store. I have a few short sleeve shirts and one tank top. 😬 Most of my stuff is from motherhood or jcpenneys. I never found a good place to get talls so I have a few mid calf length leggings. I was thinking I’ll wear a lot of maxi skirts?

I've been basically living in these lately.  I actually scored a free pair of Pea in the Pod leggings from a consignment event (they had a rack of free maternity clothes which was so awesome). They were so comfortable that I ordered these thinking they'd be similar (and they were).  They are super comfy but a little on the long side if you're petite (I'm 5'3").

Other than that, Ive had a string of good luck with friends giving me maternity clothes, and even got an entire tub of clothes off of a Free cycle website. The girl who gave them away actually had really good taste so I got a ton of great tops. I guess I really hate maternity clothes, so I'm all about getting good deals on them.

    This speaks to me.
  • I'm trying not to spend much on maternity clothes since I won't be working during my third trimester and can make it through summer lounging around with a few pairs of leggings and some tank tops. I shop for maternity clothes a lot at goodwill - I have had a lot of luck with Gap leggings and jeans. I also have found some good stuff on sale at Kohls - last year I scored a few summery dresses and cute tops for super cheap - I think like $8/dress. I have a lot of winter stuff, but not too much summer. I also had luck with pregnancy #1 with shorts from Old Navy - not maternity, but just stretchy linen shorts in a size up.
  • For those working from home (or mostly staying at home), I've bought three pair of these lounge pants because they're SO comfy (warning, the gray ones are thinner and more see through than the black. Get the black. I keep getting holes in the crotch of my gray ones)

I bought them pre-pregnancy but just keep loving them more and more.

I usually wake up and get dressed in real clothes to go to daycare, then change into these pants when I get home since no one can see them anyway. I love that they have pockets and they're SO soft.
  • I’ve been linking all my maternity clothes on my IG stories for my blog. So far my favorites this time around have been old navy bike shorts to go beneath dresses and H&M brand “mama push up” jeggings. Hands down the best maternity jean I’ve ever worn.
