Trying to Get Pregnant

TTC and Varicella vaccine

My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant, we have been struggling a bit and started going to the fertility doctor. They found out I’m not immune to chicken pox which I was very shocked about lol, so they said I could get the vaccine and wait 3 months to TTC or just wait till after I deliver. I’m very torn and wondering if anyone has skipped the vaccine if they weren’t immune. Also wondering if anyone just had one dose of it and waited till later on for the second dose. I know chicken pox isn’t common anymore and even my doctor agreed it’s not really a concern anymore but I’m still torn on what to do. Thanks! :)

Re: TTC and Varicella vaccine

  • Hey, how's it going? 👋👋

So, this sounds like a super specific question that's really going to depend on various factors personal to you, ...and ultimately, it's up to you!  I have confidence that you will make the decision that's best for you and your family.

This community operates a little differently than some of the other TTC and pregnancy boards.  Our members participate and get to know one another, supporting each other along our journeys.  If you wish to join in, please read the pinned posts and then introduce yourself on the newbie thread that is posted each week.  You are welcome here!  The more the merrier!

That said, we kind of get invested in each other, and... We don't even know you yet? 😬 So just be forewarned, this is a pretty awesome little community here, but you may not get the response you are hoping for just by jumping in randomly out of the blue and posting a one off post that is only relevant to you. J/s Reading the board rules first and lurking a bit might help make for a better experience, IMHO.

everything @BusinessWife said but I just wanted to add that I think there would be some risk to you if you were exposed to someone with shingles? Just remembering from a friend who had shingles and there was risk to her LC since he didn’t have the varicella vaccine. If I’m remembering it all correctly. That being said, we’re in a pandemic where you aren’t being exposed to a lot of people so unless you are a nurse or something it’s probably still a low risk.
