Re: Newbie Intros w/o 3.15

  • @Knottie1473812322 Welcome! Glad to have you here and hope your stay is short. Do you recommend the Ava bracelet? I always see ads for it, so I'm curious if it's worth it. We rescued a yellow lab puppy (8mo) recently so I can understand your golden obsession haha. We also have a lab/pit, she's just the sweetest thing and together they're a crazy, chaotic little combo. We've been doing a lot of home projects as well, I feel like it's never-ending! What are you currently reading? The Guest List by Lucy Foley is on my nightstand (along with several others), but I need to actually pick it up and open it.

Also, consider updating your username so you're easier to tag!

@misspricklepants Hi there! I updated my username in my profile yesterday, but for some reason it's not translating to my comments. Any tips?

The Ava bracelet was definitely pricey. For me it was worth it solely for the convenience that I don't have to worry about waking up at the same time each day to temp. I enter the temp into FF too because the more apps the better :) Now that I have a few months of data in Ava, it's been very accurate at predicting ovulation. People say the Temp Drop does something similar at a lower price but haven't tried it myself.

Aw dogs are the best! We love having two so that they can play all day and tire each other out. I finished The Guest List recently - it was a good one! Especially if you're into crime / thrillers. I just finished Outlawed by Anna North (just ok), and am working on The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin. Thanks for the warm welcome!
  • @hepalien42 looks like it updated! Yes, I'm all about thriller/crime. I dabble in historical fiction and can't help but love a good tell-all memoir (ahem Jessica Simpson)...

  • @hepalien42 i have a friend who really liked her ava bracelet! i think they're hsa/fsa elig if anyone has funds laying around!
  • @hepalien42 Welcome! I am sorry for your loss, you're in the right place! ❤️
  • Hi, I’ve been here off and on over the years. I don’t know if anybody remembers me.

Ages: I will be 38 next month and H is 40.

TTC: about to pull the goalie, a few weeks after I get my 2nd varicella shot next week. I have mirena, and haven’t ever TTC directly after pulling it (the first time I had mirena was in 2007, then H had a vasectomy, then a VR 5 years later). If I should go somewhere else while I am “benched” I apologize & please let me know.

WAYDTGKU: might try the Ava bracelet since my endo seems concerned about possible peri menopause stuff happening.

We have kids. Six of them. I am that crazy person who is hopelessly addicted to having babies. I realize this is obnoxious. I have a weird medical condition (MEN1) and thought I would be infertile (was told so at 11), so that is probably part of why I’m still in the babies game. But I genuinely love being a mom, even during quarantine.

    Laura, mom of:
    James (14)
    William (13)
    Elise (11)
    Zachary (5)
    George (3)

Welcome! @mill1020 Ten kids was one of my life goals -- until infertility! 😬 Still sort of is, so we will most likely try to adopt after we have completed our biological family.  How long do you expect to be benched?  Speaking from personal experience, you are nevertheless welcome here!  I was benched for a VERY long time, while we waited to see if we would be able to find useable sperm upon surgical retrieval....  This forum was an absolute lifesver when I needed it, so please don't be shy!  There have also been times we had a benched check-in thread (or multiple.  Not even kidding.) I feel like I recognize your un, but I'm not sure if I can place you exactly.  Wonder if we could have been ships in the night ...
  • @misspricklepants Fellow true crime lover here. If you like historical fiction, you should check out What the Wind Knows by Amy Harmon. I was very skeptical but ended up loving it.
  • @hepalien42 @blg116 @mill1020 welcome and welcome back, echoing we hope your stays here are short <3
  • @hepalien42 also...where have I heard your username before?!? I have a vague memory of it being a band name from a movie
  • @mill1020 Welcome back! I remember you. Echoing what @BusinessWife said, you’re definitely welcome to join back in while benched. At one point there were enough people who were benched that they had their own (weekly, I think?) check-in. But you can also join the dailies and instead of putting WTO/TWW you could just put “benched” in that section. Hopefully you can get back to the active part of TTC soon.
  • @chgilmore I have been associating your username with a certain TV show but judging by your response to @hepalien42 I guess not 😉
  • @bows22 AHHHH IT'S LANE's BAND NAME! I knew I remembered it from somewhere
  • @bows22 @chgilmore I was hoping people would get it and not just think I am into aliens haha :) I just did a rewatch of the whole series this winter
  • Ages : I'm 38, he's 41

TTC: Cycle 3, but it feels like I finally understood my cycle this month and want to say 1, but it's officially 3 months ttc

WAYDTGKU?: Tracking BBT, tracking Opk, taking MACA, Vitex, Evening Primrose, Omega 3, b6b12 folate supplement and a prenatal, I drink Chasteberry tea prior to ovulation and during period and of course BD.

I have zero children, worked from home prior to pandemic. I live between Canada and Tampa, Florida and decided this was my year to start trying after pandemic hit.
  • Welcome! @ashanajordan. Hopefully your stay here is short and sweet 😊 I hope you're enjoying warm sunny Florida weather right now?
  • @hepalien42 Welcome! I'll be borrowing some of your book recommendations for my book club! Hope your stay here is short but sweet.
@blg116 Welcome back! Love the story about the 2 chickens that just wondered into the yard! I hope the Chicken Police aren't after you though; it sounds like you've got enough on your plate to also deal with that. ;-)
@mill1020 6 kids... you're a hero! And so wonderful that you're able to have babies after being told you'd be infertile. I hope that you'll add that #7 without too much effort!

also decided to post here after not seeing a post for this week for newbies.

Ages (you and SO): I’m 35, MH is 36

How many months have you been TTC?: just starting

What are you doing to get knocked up (WAYDTGKU)?: I bought a thermometer for temping and got ovulation sticks - didn’t temp when TTC last time (5 years ago 😳). I’m on folic acid and DHA now and a daily multivitamin but will resume prenatals next week.

Tell us about yourself! (Kids, pets, job, hobbies, etc.)
I am a psychiatrist and have been with MH since we were 16 & 17, married for 14 years in July. We had our first at 24 & 25, just prior to me starting medical school. He’s 10yo in 5th grade. Almost 11. We didn’t try for number 2 until 2015, and our daughter came 9 weeks early in Sept 2016. She’s 4yo and will be starting VPK in the fall.

MH had a vasectomy in 2018, and my IUD came out in Aug 2020. I was surprise pregnant by Oct 2020. We found out we were expecting a little boy, but we lost him almost 3.5 weeks ago at almost 24w. Devastated doesn’t cover it. After much back and forth, MH finally agreed to try for another baby. Obviously our loss is still fresh and raw. I’m still waiting on one more genetic test, then I will meet with MFM to see if we need testing to figure out why really for my last 2 pregnancies I haven’t been able to successfully carry to term. Will start actively trying once we get the all clear from MFM - who I will have to follow for the duration of any pregnancy.
  • @angelz429 i'm so sorry for your loss
  • @ashanajordan Welcome to the community. I'm also Canadian, but I moved to the US 3 years ago and now live in the Bay Area. I hope your stay with us is short and sweet. How did you figure out what vitamins and supplements to take?

@ReadyForaB welcome back to this group and I am really sorry to hear about your loss How exciting to try for #2 after you didn't think you wanted to further extend your family! Hopefully your stay here won't be too long!

@angelz429 I am so sorry about your loss. 😭Sending you creepy internet hugs and support. The TTCAL weekly thread might be a good place for you to check out; there is a lot of support and advice there from folks who've had similar experiences.
