14 week appt today (13w3d) doc couldn’t get the Doppler to pick up the heartbeat and also had a student so we got to take a peek at the babe! So wiggly it’s crazy to me that I can’t feel it inside me!
edited bc “peak” vs “peek” is the new “their” “there” apparently lol
We had our private ultrasound today at 12w2d. Hands down best money I’ve ever spent. Immediately saw the little heart beating. And the little bean was wiggling around before resting in a position looking away from us, but we got a good profile! And we listened to the heartbeat, it was a nice 150! Saw hands, fingers, feet and little toes. I’m amazed at how much of a little baby they already look like! 🥰
@pickle-chips that’s so cool! My H and I decided to go ahead with a private ultrasound next weekend and now I’m so pumped. Your babe looks amazing, so cool you got to see all that!
They were out of paper so couldn't print any pics 😩 19+6 babe is in the 36th percentile and weighs 11oz. According to the number they hit 11oz between 20 and 21 weeks so might be a bit big?
20 weeks 1 day. Everything looked normal on anatomy scan, which was a huge relief. And I felt really good about how thorough they were on the heart anatomy. Having watched probably 100 fetal echos, I know what they need to look at, and what gets missed, so this was really reassuring.
@shoogapoff they didn't really take any other non anatomy photos. Also it's Canada so I doubt they even have the capacity to email. There were CDs available in the other clinic but they stopped that once support people were allowed to come I think.
Had my anatomy scan this afternoon. Baby was not cooperating so they couldn't get a couple measurements they needed and because baby insisted on laying with their feet crossed up over their head with the cord hanging between their legs we still don't know the sex. Have another ultrasound scheduled in 5 weeks so hopefully we can find out then!
Have to go back in two weeks to get the heart measurements because baby was not cooperating, but everything looked good! Managed to keep my eyes closed when she was looking at the sex! So still a secret
I had a Ultrasound Friday. I'm 17 weeks but baby is measuring closer to 18... Lol. We do know it's a boy! Doctor said everything looks good so far. I go in for my anatomy scan in April!
Lol it’s a little reassuring that my little guy wasn’t the only baby that wasn’t cooperating. He moved around all morning and by the time noon hit and it was time for my scan he slept. In the worst position too— he was head down facing backwards so she could t get much at first. She was so amazing and patient and wiggled my belly around for him to turn enough for her to get what she needed and then he turned right back around. She did this a few times. My stubborn little guy is about 14oz and the 60th percentile (I am 21 weeks today and had my scan yesterday). Heartbeat of 143. I am at risk for preeclampsia so I get to see him one more time in 12 weeks for a growth ultrasound. Here are some of the ultrasound pics:
The last one, she was looking at his belly and his lips and nose showed up 😍🥰 she snapped the pic just in time before he moved but omg it’s so amazing to see! Anyway, I love seeing everyone’s growing babies! Thanks for sharing. Hope you ladies have a fabulous day and weekend!!
Had my AS last Wednesday. Baby looked perfect! And I stayed strong. Didn't find out the sex, even though it was VERY tempting. I'm 19+3 here, but measuring a full week ahead.
Had my follow up ultrasound to check the heart (since baby was uncooperative during the anatomy scan) all was well! Got about 25 pictures from the tech. She was awesome. Stayed strong (again) and didn’t find out the sex AND my husband could come which was cool.
This baby doesn’t look like either of my kids or anyone that I know at all lol
My mom thinks they look like my brother. I guess we’ll see!
Had my anatomy scan on Friday at 22 weeks. Everything looked great. He’s measuring big (about a week) and was also about 6 days ahead around 12 weeks, but I don’t think they’re going to move my due date. I might just mentally move my due date from 8/10-8/4 although my last (2nd) baby came at 41w1d and I turn 35 august 5th (so I’m geriatric, lol) so this might work out for me in terms of pressure to go into labor before 40 weeks. I think I know when I had my last period but it was weird because I was about 5 days late so maybe I ovulated at a weird day that cycle?
Repeating what I posted in the appointments thread, but had my anatomy scan today! They don’t print photos and I can’t be bothered to by the CD—sorry baby #3.
Baby was measuring a week ahead. Chunky baby weighing 15oz at 20w (or 21w2d based on measurements). Baby was also rather uncooperative like their August friends on this board, but the tech was able to push them around enough to get the needed pics so I don’t have to go back. I’m also fairly sure we’re having another boy 😂 We will know for sure on Thursday.
I had mine last Thursday and he wouldn’t move off of laying where the umbilical cord connects to the placenta. He would also start doing gymnastics every time the tech tried measuring each arm or leg so the tech would have to start over with finding the arm/leg and the following it to the hand/foot. Baby was measuring right on track and was moving almost the whole time (until he needed to move then wouldn’t. 🤦🏼♀️)
Had my 20 week anatomy scan yesterday 🥳 all is good / normal, weighing 12 oz. and the tech said “you’ll be running with this one! Been moving and grooving the entire time.” I go back next week because she couldn’t get a few measurements that she needed. I guess August = active babies!! 😆
Backstory: I had my anatomy scan a month ago, and they didn't say anything negative about it at all at the time (it was at an MFM's office, and I met with the Dr at the actual visit). When I went for my March midwife appointment, the MFM's office hadn't sent the results over yet, so we didn't talk about it at all.
This week, I was checking my patient portal to see if the anatomy scan results had been posted, because I was curious about my placenta location. Anyway, the results were posted (I have an anterior placenta), but they also mentioned in the notes that "placental cord insertion is suboptimal". Long story short, I ended up calling the midwives to clarify what this might mean, and they honestly weren't sure. They thought it could mean the visualization of the cord placement was suboptimal, or it could mean I have marginal cord placement. Bottom line, the midwives are going to rescan me at my next visit on the 22nd just for peace of mind.
I'm really frustrated with the MFM's office. Even if it was just that the visualization was suboptimal, because the whole scan was maybe 15 minutes. They didn't try at all to get baby to move or anything, and I just assumed I got super lucky and baby was in the right position the whole time. And if the cord insertion is marginal, then the dr should have told me that at the visit!
@shoogapoff Is it a possible for you to send a message through the patient portal to the doctor to request clarification? I've done that a few times with my husband's oncologist when something he writes in his notes isn't clear. He has an assistant that checks them and gets back to me with what the doctor says if he's too busy to write back himself. Don't be afraid to demand an answer from someone. It's your medical records and your body and if you want an answer then someone should give it to you!
@shoogapoff I agree with @ladyk127. If you don't want another scan on the 22nd (which I could see why you don't mind seeing baby again) I would email them or call their nurseline to get answers. Never less, it's still frustrating that you found out through the portal instead of being told by the dr.
AS went smoothly today! Baby was moving but mostly in a helpful way, they got all the angles they need and everything looks perfect. I can't believe the level of detail they can see and identify, it's incredible! I found out I'll have another growth scan in eight weeks due to my history of blood pressure issues, so hopefully everything keeps progressing as it should between now and then.
@shoogapoff - That is super frustrating. Do the midwives not have access to the scan so they can see if it's an image issue or not? Also 15 minutes seems crazy short for an AS! Mine was a full hour!
@the_most_happy the farther along in the pregnancy you are the less accurate a ultrasound is for size. That's why they do dating scans around 8 weeks and are very unlikely to change your edd if the size is off for your 20 week scan. I believe I was between 28-32 weeks with DS when he was measuring in the 3rd percentile witch is why they said I had to be induced at 37 weeks, but he was in the 10th percentile at birth. In the following scans he was still measuring 5th or less.
Re: Ultrasound Thread
edited bc “peak” vs “peek” is the new “their” “there” apparently lol
My CNM doesn't do a NT US, she said there are other newer recommended ways to detect concerns. So no US until 20 weeks. 😔
Look at the tiny foot!

Sorry, ladies. I just wanted to vent.
