Healthy Habits March - Week 2 Check-in

2 weeks down - 2 to go!

So how did it go last week?

Any changes of goals? Are you feeling motivated?

Re: Healthy Habits March - Week 2 Check-in

  • My pelvis going out of place on Thursday total ruined my numbers for the week. Well that on top of two glucose tests. I only made it to 29 of my 40 goal.
But it is a new week, and with the GD diagnosis I need to walk more. So hopefully the PT appointments help and I can keep moving!

  • Did pretty well last week, got to almost 48k steps and wasn't too sore (though still very slow...that I'm assuming will stick around for several more months).

Will bump up to 45k/week and try to add 2-3 days of some sort of strength training. I know this week will be rough between DST, bad weather, and the glucose test on Friday, but hoping to get my step count up over the next few weeks and get back into some other exercises at home.
  • Didn't do great last week.  Bad weather at the end of the week kept me from getting out for walks but I did still do some exercise every day.

This week isn't looking great due to continuing bad weather.  This week going to aim for 30 minutes of exercise a day instead of steps.
  • I was about 1,000 short on my 50k goal. I have been having right foot pain and haven’t been super diligent about doing any exercise other than walking. Might have to up the ante a little because I’ve already gained another 5 pounds from my last appointment.

have any of your docs scolded you for weight gain between appointments? I didn’t gain anything in the first tri, and then my last appointment I gained 5 and she kind of tsked me. So I weighed myself today I have gained 5 more. And my appointment isn’t until next week. So naturally now I’m spiraling and anxious about it.
  • @remi1014 usually this time is when the most weight is gained- a lb/week is pretty normal. Try not to stress too much - some weeks you'll gain more, some weeks you'll gain less. Sorry you got tsked at the last appt.

I am not going to meet any of my March goals (not even close), BUT even doing a little bit has helped. Last weekend we took our kids to the museum of natural history and I walked 4 miles with no problems so I'm considering that a win.
  • @_orchid_ Definitely a win! Hope you find time to move even a little to help with everything going on. Sending thoughts to you and your family this week and wishes for best results!

@remi1014 Maybe ask what your doctors expectation is if she is tsking you over 5lbs in a month? Seems pretty normal range from what my OB has said. Hope you get some answers about your foot too! Mine hurt when my hips and IT bands get tight, so maybe try a foam roller on those areas?

She's always been a little weird about my weight. And just telling me to be careful. She was this way before I even got pregnant. I'm technically overweight to start, and gained 60 with my first pregnancy. I just feel like I'm on high alert about it and it feels really shitty.
  • @remi1014 If you're being healthy (as best you can, that is), I wouldn't worry too much about it. Some women (of various body types) naturally put on a lot of weight during pregnancy, no matter what they do. It does suck that your doctor is picking on it
  • @remi1014 I am seeing other doctors in the clinic and not my own who I don’t think would have but I got scolded for gaining about 7lbs. I am not trying to but it happened. I just got off of the new treadmill we just purchased and I am trying to keep moving either on the treadmill or my bike daily

Same, I haven’t changed my eating habits really. I’m trying not to snack and give in to the sweets craving too much. I’m sorry you’re feeling bad too. It’s so tough with all the changes our bodies are going through. I’m just really worried about my appointment next week. And it happens to be on my birthday, so that’ll be fun. Lol
  • @remi1014 positive vibes! It’s hard but stay positive. :) My husband swears I was just bigger my previous pregnancy even though my weight says differently this pregnancy. Hormones are so weird and my own doctor knows I am staying active and trying to eat healthy but since she isn’t there, I stress so much over what another doctor is going to say to me. I think I have gained about 20lbs so far this pregnancy. It’s like you gain what you gain no matter how hard you try not to
