Trying to Get Pregnant

WTO Wednesday 3.10

**This is a thread that welcomes all regardless of where they are at in their TTC journeys. Please be mindful of topics that are discussed that could be hurtful to those going through tough times. Mention of children or pregnancies of others should have a TW (trigger warning) and be in a spoiler if possible, and only be mentioned if it is extremely pertinent to the conversation. Thanks for keeping this a safe place for us all to engage!**

    R/R: rant: I'm in a training class this week where they want us to use real examples from our job. Ok fine, that wouldn't be a problem, except no one on my team for this class works in the same group, so you're just picking one person's case study and only they know anything about it. Makes it tough to apply what we're learning, and you are relying on that one person for all the answers. Glad we didn't use an example from my role, because on a similar note, in my last role, I kept having to lead these complex investigations using a particular process, and I was also the only one who really knew the details about the topic we were investigating, so it was basically me doing the entire thing. 🙄

    R/R: I had to drop off my pup at daycare today for the first time in months because the place required it before they can accept her boarding reservation for next week (MH and I are going away for our anniversary). Now the cat and I are sad because she isn't home with us but I know she loves to play with the other pups.

    CS/Q: well, I'm feeling some cramping today (normal for me) but no EWCM (I always get this) and cbad still says "high" not "peak" so idk, we'll see, it's possible the spike is from environmental factors

    @pajamstagrams  ugh that sounds frustrating!

    R/R: I have been stressing more lately about what the future looks like, particularly related to work. I’ve been WFH since last March, but my job is not really meant to be online/virtual meetings. However, if I do get pregnant in the upcoming months I don’t know if I’ll feel comfortable going back if I haven’t been vaccinated yet. I’m self-employed, so I can do whatever I want. But if I get pushback from the people that I work with, I may be forced to make some difficult decisions. Since my income is based on the work that I actually do, this could be a problem. Although, people are also adapting to our “new reality” so maybe it won’t be that bad. This has been occupying a lot of my brain space in the last couple of weeks.

  • @rgn12 I totally get where you're coming from on this. it's a tough spot to be in especially if you think you won't get the support to stay at home if you become PG and therefore high risk without getting vaccinated. this "new reality" could definitely work in your favor though! I'm sorry it's so heavy on your mind <3

    @chgilmore thanks, I appreciate that! I believe we’re in the same profession, if I remember correctly from some of your other posts. Also, somehow I missed yours above mine! I hope your pup does well at daycare today! We thought about doing that for ours for some socialization, but never tried it.

  • @rgn12 that's always a tough spot to be in. I tend to worry a lot about the future as well, albeit the opposite concern from you..."what if I get PG and we're still working from home (we're not allowed to go in) and I lose my office because it's going to be the kid's bedroom???" I hate WFH as is, and losing the office is going to be so much worse. BUT. I'm not PG now, so I'm trying to to worry about things that aren't currently issues. Easier said than done, for sure. 😐 I'm going to be hopeful for you that your colleagues will be understanding and respect your desire to stay home😊

    @chgilmore I hope your pup had a fun time at daycare!

    @pajamstagrams thanks, I appreciate that! I should be good until the end of June, hopefully (WFH). After that, that is when I’m a little unsure of what the future looks like. I need to just put this away for now I suppose until I actually have something to worry about. It may end up being a non-issue either way! I’m just so tired of covid!
  • @pajamstagrams I have the same question - what happens when the office has to be the bedroom and we're still at home? not as much of an issue for me, I'm almost fully vaxed but MH is not and he's the one in the office. Hopefully in 9+ months it won't be a question at all.
    @rgn12 oh do you provide therapy too?! I've gotten pushback from clients somewhat, I just emphasize the safety aspect of it and they've been alright with it. for the ones who've started asking more about coming in, I've let them know that I'm considering it next month and that gives them enough to not bring it up as often, but before that, emphasizing the safety angle really helped.

    The pup is doing well! She's very clingy and I can watch her on a webcam so I see her running around trying to get the handlers to pick her up, it's very cute but also makes me want to snuggle her. She likes other dogs but loves people more, lol.
  • I feel a lot of the same stuff.

    I'm technically supposed to be WFH now, but I'm waiting for my new assignment.  My last role was 100% client facing, so I will have to be retrained in something else.  🤷 I'm glad they are so flexible, it's amazing!  But I still don't have my hours, or my assignment.  ...This could get interesting.

    @pajamstagrams sigh, yeah that must be awesome having a proper home office setup.  Right now I'm relegated to the end of the dining room table! Lol. But the truth is TLDR you can still totally keep your office if it comes to it and you decide that's what's best.  Plenty of people live in small spaces and make it work.

    <div class="Spoiler">Honesty, a nursery is totally not even necessary.  A baby will most likely sleep in the parents' room in the beginning, and it's not a stretch to make that a toddler bed if it came to it.  Only you can decide how to make best use of a space for your family, and if your work situation dictates you need your own office, you may just decide that trumps all the cute pintresty nursery stuff.  Cos that ain't making anybody any money. Lol. Okay, well maybe youtubers but ykwim.  Cute bedding, wall hangings, decals, a mobile etc. can go a long way to making a shared space feel totally welcoming and baby-friendly. :)</div></div>
  • @BusinessWife reply to TW BR (in spoiler)
    I totally get that! Our goal isn't a pinterest nursery, it's to create a separate space that we can take turns spending the night in, and we just don't have the space in our bedroom. we also decided on some space saving options (mini crib on wheels and Finnish baby box) to increase space versatility, so I guess over night the room would fit babe and parent on an air mattress, then during the day we'd move around into the living room or something. we have a fairly small 2BR/2BA condo (~700 sq ft) and every square inch is accounted for, it feels like! so goals are versatile space...and not ugly xD

    @chgilmore Yes, I’m an outpatient therapist! I finally feel like we have a good thing going with teletherapy. I hated it at first, but everyone has gotten used to it. I haven’t had any pushback recently, but I’m sure that will happen soon. I’m trying to just keep this going for as long as possible, because my office is so tiny and there is no way to social distance.
  • @rgn12 you definitely aren't missing much not being in person - I did it briefly for a bit and it really doesn't help relationship when you constantly have to reinforce the rules (I work with kids mostly so it's a lot of "please keep your mask on" and "you need to sanitize your hands"). keep the telehealth as long as you can, at least until it's safe <3

    @chgilmore I can only imagine!
