How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? DS 19 mos
How are your other kids doing this week? Alright. DH is travelling this week (happens every other week he's gone for 2 days 2 nights) but it still throws DS out of routine.
Rants/Raves: He's getting really good at holding hands when walking around. Since we really haven't gone anywhere since he started walking he wasn't familiar with it and was not having it. But with the warmer weather we've been taking walks outside and he's doing a great job!
Concerns/Questions: Questioning whether I want to potty train before this baby gets here or during maternity leave. DS will be 27 mos.
GTKY: What kid’s show do you wish you could eliminate so that no mom ever has to sit through it again? I really don't get the appeal of Blippi at all. And if I could have Sesame Street without the Elmo's wonderful world song I would be happy.
@gingermama46 so my son is 2.5 and we are definitely hoping to potty train him before this baby comes. He turned 2 one month before my second son was born so we decided not to attempt it then. He had this phase awhile ago where he was SO interested in peeing on his little potty and he did multiple times but now he has no interest. I didn’t know this but our pediatrician said that’s super common- they show interest for awhile, drop completely then when they become interested again it’s time to train for real. So we are hoping that happens conveniently in a month or two when I’m done with being super sick. I have also heard from a lot of mamas that boys can take longer and that it’s better to wait until they seem ready- my cousin’s sons were 3 and 4 when completely potty trained. So don’t put pressure on yourself and just go with the flow would be my advice 😂 also my son loves Blippi thanks to a friends recommendation. I like how he explores so many different fun places especially since we can’t go to such fun places right now thanks to covid BUT I do find Blippi himself incredibly annoying lol
How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? Two sons, 2.5yo and 6mo
How are your other kids doing this week?
Doing well overall- my toddler has been adjusting to the news of another baby coming and having a bit more tantrums BUT the last couple days he’s been playing so nicely and being a much better listener. Other than being a spitter upper and major teething right now my baby is such a happy little guy and fairly easy going. He sleeps well at night except a rough night here and there from teething
Rants/Raves: I am loving seeing the growing interactions between my boys and their big smiles for each other just melt my heart 💙💙 feeling so relieved too that baby is growing fine despite the bleeding scare, it was a rough day Monday into Tuesday.
Concerns/Questions:
GTKY: What kid’s show do you wish you could eliminate so that no mom ever has to sit through it again? My son discovered Leo the Truck on YouTube and I’m really not a fan.
How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? 1 DD, 22 months (turns 2 in April 😭)
How are your other kids doing this week? She seems great. She has really gained a lot of knowledge being stuck home with mom and dad for two weeks, which I love seeing! She knows about 1/4 of her alphabet already, which is so awesome and makes my teacher heart explode!
Rants/Raves: DD has really been into going potty on the potty so we are taking this time to half @$$ potty train her. I just heard her yell “potty” while I’m teaching down stairs and run into the bathroom. I’m optimistic that she will be potty trained over easter break at the beginning of April! Only rant is I have a killer headache from my neck being completely out of wack, so that’s been kind of frustrating!
Concerns/Questions: Nope
GTKY: What kid’s show do you wish you could eliminate so that no mom ever has to sit through it again? DD doesn’t watch a ton of TV, but from my childhood, Caillou can go.
@gingermama46 my DD is a little older than your DS but we are obviously going to work on potty training before babe is here.

@gingermama46, aww that's adorable about your son getting the hang of hand-holding!
@momofmiracles31889, I'm so glad you got confirmation baby is growing ok ❤ I hope the bleeding has settled down!
@chindimples04, I spent entirely too long trying to figure out what 1/4 of the alphabet would be. I assume it's the first quarter? That would be funny if she had little snippets throughout totalling 1/4! I don't know why my brain is weird like this.😂
How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? 5yo DS
How are your other kids doing this week? He's amazing. I was gushing over him for being so good and sweet and caring when I had my migraines and his response was "yeah, I'm pretty great. You should probably keep me." It echos a joke we tell him, but I was not expecting it and I almost fell out of my chair I was laughing so hard.
Rants/Raves: I didn't cuss at anyone today and I only kind of yelled at one person. Considering all of the stupid **** I had to deal with today, I consider this a win. A very unsatisfying win.
Concerns/Questions: Currently trying not to freak out about the NIPT, which I can take as early as March 12. Is it crazy for me to put it off until the 17th to make sure I can't get results back on the 19th (our family's dark day)?
GTKY: What kid’s show do you wish you could eliminate so that no mom ever has to sit through it again? Anything on YouTube and Peppa Pig
How many kids do How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? One son. He is 4.
How are your other kids doing this week? Great! He has been learning to read and is just a super happy kid most of the time.
Rants/Raves: the exhaustion is REAL this time around. I was not this tired last time.
Concerns/Questions: I’m such so much more of a worry wart this time around. The current worry engulfing me is the fact that my husband and has long qt syndrome (type 3). We found out when he had a cardiac arrest what I was 35 weeks pregnant with DS so I wasn’t worried last time around. We had genetic testing and DS doesn’t carry the gene thank God. But every child we have has a 50% chance of inheriting it. I know it’s not the end of the world but the more I think about it the more nervous I get. We didn’t plan this pregnancy (partly bc of this). But it is SO welcomed.

She identifies them at random on her letter blocks, letter puzzles, her letter magnets, letter foam blocks in the tub, on my keyboard on my computer, and in books. It’s seriously so impressive! How many kids do you already have, and how old are they?
I have a 20 month old daughter. How are your other kids doing this week?
She's...fine. Whiny. Hungry. Cuddly. Rants/Raves: I'm too tired to rant, lol Concerns/Questions: I'm sure I'll have some later, but can't think of any right now! GTKY: What kid’s show do you wish you could eliminate so that no mom ever has to sit through it again? We haven't gotten my daughter into a lot of TV at the moment. Honestly, baby shows all sound so annoying that I'm avoiding them for as long as possible! There is one baby sign language video on YouTube that she loves and we watch all the time. The songs are super catchy, which is good for her learning but bad for me when I want to hear myself think. I would pick that if it weren't so useful--we've all learned a lot of signs!

@chindimples04, aww! She sounds like she's learning so much!
And I have to laugh at myself, because this makes TOTAL sense that she would know/recognize some letters but not others yet. For some reason, I was only thinking about the alphabet in terms of the ABCs song. I kept thinking how weird it would be to only certain letters in the song, to sing only snippets out of order. It didn't even occur to me that the letters exist outside of the childrens song. Oh my. 🤦♀️ can I blame pregnancy brain? 😂
@galentine absolutely! I have a friend who’s son is about 3 weeks older than my daughter and he only sings snippets of the ABC song and it’s the cutest, funniest thing ever!

Hello! Sorry I'm late to the party. Looking forward to getting to know you all!
@gingermama46 Is your DS showing signs of readiness for potty training? We're on the fence with that issue, too. Twenty-seven months still seems young, especially for boys, but the appeal of not having two in diapers is strong! Solidarity on the anti-Blippi front.
@momofmiracles31889 How was the initial transition with your 6mo and your toddler? I'm sure you have gotten this question already, but how are you feeling about having two so close together?
@chindimples04 Your DD sounds like a toddler genius! I'm so impressed she has that much of the alphabet down already. Have you told her about the new baby?
@galentine It looks like we just missed each other in our previous BMBs! I was in the August 19 group, but DS ended up being born in September. What words does your DS have down confidently right now? Getting to talk with toddlers is so much fun.
@aztecash Forgive me if you mentioned it in another thread, but is there something in particular you're nervous about with the NIPT?
@ReadyForaB This is my ignorance showing, but is that syndrome something this baby will be tested for? What all does that entail?
@pizzaplz Would you mind linking that baby sign language video?
How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? One DS, 18 months.
How are your other kids doing this week? Great! He started sleeping through the night almost a week ago (when I quit BFing) and the extra sleep has been so nice for both DH and I. DS has also been happier now that he's sleeping better. My supply was basically nonexistent already, but DS wanted to comfort nurse at night and sleep latched on pretty regularly.
Rants/Raves: My OB recommended against the NIPT for me this pregnancy and last (DH and I are 29, no health issues on either side, and DS is seemingly typical), but we wanted to find out the baby's gender so we ordered the SneakPeek test. We did it at 8 weeks with DS last time and I've already ordered it again for this pregnancy. So now I'm just counting down the days until I hit 8 weeks and can take it.
Concerns/Questions: None ATM.
GTKY: What kid’s show do you wish you could eliminate so that no mom ever has to sit through it again? For sure Blippi.
@aukeev we have. She has really taken a liking to her baby dolls since then. We read lots of books about the new baby and she kisses my belly a lot. It’s the sweetest thing. She’s going to be such a great big sister!
I have heard great things about SneakPeek! My clinic just recently made a contract with a company so with our basic genetic markers blood draw at 12 weeks, they also run gender. I’m so excited to find out early!

@aukeev yes we will have to meet with our genetic counselor and they will test the baby’s blood against my husbands confirmed mutation to see if they carry it or not. It’s a process. We found out my son did not have it when he was about six months old but that was only because we didn’t even know my husband had it until he had a cardiac arrest when I was 35 weeks pregnant. So it took awhile to line everything up with genetics. I’m hoping this time we will get an answer sooner.

@aukeev I don't think I've outright discussed it on TB before. The NIPT for my last pregnancy came back as high risk for genentic abnormalities. Got the results on March 19th - the day that bad things tend to happen to my husband's family (multiple deaths, a particularly unfortunate birth, accidents, etc). A CVS confirmed the results. It was far and away the worst moment of my life. I will not be comfortable until I get low risk results back. I'm trying to stay positive, but I'm also not busting out my maternity clothes for another few weeks...
On a happier note, I loved doing baby sign with DS (didn't use that video), and watching kids learn and grow is absolutely amazing.
@aukeev so DS1 was exactly 2 when his baby brother was born and I’m not gonna lie the first month or two was..... crazy haha. He did LOVE his baby brother right away and has been so sweet with him- talks to him, snuggles and kisses him, now makes him giggle (which is the best!!) but he was so jealous of sharing mommy it was so hard for him. Now for me I had a horrible time trying to breastfeed (our first son was adopted so this was my first attempt at it). My baby wouldn’t latch well (poor baby had tongue and lip ties which were missed by multiple professionals until we finally saw a pediatric dentist at 2 months) and I had to EP for a whole month and bottle feed and try to nurse so that all added to the chaos bc that literally took up my whole day. Plus I struggled with post partum mental health and I’m sure it didn’t help my DS1. I quit pumping at 3-4 months and starting at 2 months backing off of EP and that helped a lot. Like helped my mental health and the well being of the whole house hold. I was able to give DS1 and DS2 more quality mommy time each and it made the world of difference. All this to say your experience may be completely different since it sounds like you already successfully breastfed your first child! My biggest tips are finding that special one on one time with your first, whatever that looks like for your family, and accept whatever help you have in your “village”! My mom and MIL helped a lot those first couple months and I couldn’t have made it through without them! Also DH has been WFH since covid which has been a Godsend.
i am a bit terrified at having three kiddos 3 and under including basically Irish twins ha BUT in some ways having survived what I just described in our transition from 1 to 2 kiddos I almost feel like 2 to 3 will be slightly easier. I’m also just not gonna put so much pressure on myself to BF if it doesn’t work AND I’m gonna take my mental health more seriously and go on meds this time if needed. I’m very type A and perfectionistic and was way too hard on myself
How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? 1 DD, 18 months (hiiii @aukeev )
How are your other kids doing this week? We are quarantined this week and next due a daycare exposure (no symptoms and got a negative PCR test so we should be in the clear). My husband had to take a few shifts off work to make it work. Not too much different around here other than her not going to daycare (she usually goes 2x per week) - we don’t really take her anywhere except for walks and to the park!
Rants/Raves: My parents are coming to visit next weekend (6 days!) so we can finally share our news with them then. We haven’t seen them in 2 months. They are also both hopefully getting their vaccines on Tuesday (J&J so one and done) which they’re very excited about. I have my first US on 3/15 when I should be about 8 weeks.
Concerns/Questions: Is anyone planning to do both the NIPT and NT? We did both last time mainly since both were covered by insurance. I have different insurance this time, and despite my best efforts I don’t know for sure whether both will be covered. We are still planning to do both - there is a discount program for the NIPT through LabCorp if it isn’t covered so we are prepared to pay that. I know that they test for mostly the same things, but there are some differences and I just prefer to have all the information that I can if possible (plus getting the sex from the NIPT and an extra ultrasound from the NT are perks!)
GTKY: What kid’s show do you wish you could eliminate so that no mom ever has to sit through it again? We only really watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse which I actually don’t mind - it’s not too annoying and has at least some educational value to it. She also loves Moana these days. I will avoid interest in the obnoxious kids shows at all costs!
How many kids do you already have, and how old are they?
1 DD from my previous marriage who is 5.
How are your other kids doing this week?
She is doing well. I haven’t seen her since I was admitted to the hospital on Friday. She is with her dad so probably playing lots of iPad games.
Rants/Raves: I’ve been in the hospital since Friday and I am not possibly going home until tomorrow afternoon. It’s been 3 days and I do not want to stay the night again.
Concerns/Questions: What NIPT do most people do? Does it just go by what insurance covers? Back in 2015 it wasn’t really a thing to get an NIPT at 29/30 years
GTKY: What kid’s show do you wish you could eliminate so that no mom ever has to sit through it again?
Caillou and Teen Titans (the latter my ex watches and got my daughter into 😂)
@aukeev was your sneak peek accurate? My OB suggested against the NIPT and recommended the sneak peek for gender but all the people I’ve talked to about sneak peek received inaccurate results.
@grangerhp37 I was told by a friend about the lab corps thing so I reached out today for an estimate. We already get the NT scan and trisomy testing as a standard practice so idk why they wouldn’t allow us to add the gender to it as well.
@bcliffee1, I'm curious why your OB suggested against the NIPT? Did you express interest in the test, either for health reasons or to find out the sex of the baby? It seems strange to me that a doctor would advise against a test that would give you information on the health of your baby. Maybe I'm missing context clues, though.
How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? 1 DS, he is 2 years and 8 months
How are your other kids doing this week? He's doing great! We are visiting family this week so he's having a blast playing with his cousins. He had started waking back up a few times during the night, but last night was better!
Rants/Raves: I ate a cupcake last night and it was so good.. but made me so sick.. I don't know if it's a rant really, but this pregnancy has been so different from my first with the nausea & food aversions!
GTKY: What kid’s show do you wish you could eliminate so that no mom ever has to sit through it again? Peppa pig and all YouTube videos where you're just watching someone play with toys.. I'm going to go against the norm and say we actually like blippi 😆
@galentine I had asked about it (more for genetic reasons) but I didn’t mention that at first before she advised against it. They test for at 12 weeks for trisomies and Down syndrome so I’m not sure why they would add the additional gender piece for an extra cost? She said being that I don’t have risk factors and I’m not 35 the qualifications for insurance to cover it is low and would cost a pretty penny to get it and she said it wasn’t worth doing it in my case
@bcliffee1 yes, ours was accurate! I took it at 9 weeks. Several friends have taken it and they have all been correct, also. Our OB recommended against NIPT testing because of my and my husband's ages (26 and 27 at the time) and lack of family medical issues on either side.
@aukeev thank you I felt a little skeptical about the sneak peek but we will try it and see
@cait32 I don’t understand why they won’t push for a NIPT if I ask for it and my insurance covers it. I know in my area some OBs will offer it under 35 with no health concerns and some don’t. I’m really happy with my OB office overall so I won’t push it too much but it’s frustrating that so many others are offered the test. I did give Natera and Quest an inquiry today on it to see what they say and maybe I can push it further
@bcliffee1 I got some push back from my OB with my first pregnancy too but we ultimately did what we wanted and it was all covered by insurance (both NIPT and NT). I was also just 27 at the time. This time around I have different insurance, and insurance says they require prior authorization but my OB’s office “doesn’t do” prior auths because they claim they’ve had issues in the past where insurance has said things are approved and then they end up not covering them. I will talk to my OB directly at my appt on Monday since I keep getting run in circles whenever I call the office. So frustrating.
How many kids do you already have, and how old are they? 2 daughters, ages 6 and 3
How are your other kids doing this week? They’re both doing great, able to spend more time together getting along and playing than fighting, so I’m happy
Rants/Raves: My 3 yo started napping at daycare again and it’s done wonders for her mood in the evenings...a lot less cranky during our bedtime routine.
Concerns/Questions: I’ll be asking about the NIPT at my appt on Thursday as well, we’ve only ever done the NT scan but I’m 35 this time, so curious what my OB will say.
GTKY: What kid’s show do you wish you could eliminate so that no mom ever has to sit through it again? My littlest one loves Fancy Nancy but eeek....she’s so bratty sometimes!

Rants/Raves:
My OB recommended against the NIPT for me this pregnancy and last (DH and I are 29, no health issues on either side, and DS is seemingly typical), but we wanted to find out the baby's gender so we ordered the SneakPeek test. We did it at 8 weeks with DS last time and I've already ordered it again for this pregnancy. So now I'm just counting down the days until I hit 8 weeks and can take it.
Concerns/Questions:
None ATM.
GTKY: What kid’s show do you wish you could eliminate so that no mom ever has to sit through it again?
For sure Blippi.

On a happier note, I loved doing baby sign with DS (didn't use that video), and watching kids learn and grow is absolutely amazing.
i am a bit terrified at having three kiddos 3 and under including basically Irish twins ha BUT in some ways having survived what I just described in our transition from 1 to 2 kiddos I almost feel like 2 to 3 will be slightly easier. I’m also just not gonna put so much pressure on myself to BF if it doesn’t work AND I’m gonna take my mental health more seriously and go on meds this time if needed. I’m very type A and perfectionistic and was way too hard on myself
How are your other kids doing this week?
Rants/Raves:
I’ve been in the hospital since Friday and I am not possibly going home until tomorrow afternoon. It’s been 3 days and I do not want to stay the night again.
Concerns/Questions:
What NIPT do most people do? Does it just go by what insurance covers? Back in 2015 it wasn’t really a thing to get an NIPT at 29/30 years
GTKY: What kid’s show do you wish you could eliminate so that no mom ever has to sit through it again?
