Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: September 15/13 weeks
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a Tamagotchi virtual pet. 😁
Upcoming appointments: I meet my midwife of March 16.
How are you feeling?: Fatigue and food aversion are still hanging around. I just want to eat some vegetables. 😭
Rants/Raves: Not much going on besides work and pregnancy symptoms, unfortunately. DH had been absolutely wonderful when it comes to my food aversions. Some nights there's nothing I can stomach besides cereal and he's never complained.
Questions: Nope.
GTKY: What celebrity would you like to have lunch with? Oooh this is tough. I think Amy Poehler and I would have fun. Or maybe Angela Kinsey from "The Office".
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a pea pod
Upcoming appointments: March 22 with my GP, then March 23 with my OB
How are you feeling?: Meh. I've had a headache on and off for the last couple of days and been super tired again.
Rants/Raves: Did I complain last week about waiting for the results of my first trimester screening? Because I'm still waiting for the results of my first trimester screening. I just want to be able to be open about the pregnancy. I think some of the women I work with are starting to guess. And I think I'm starting to look pregnant.
Questions: We're starting to look at registry stuff and debating between a stroller with an attachable infant car seat or getting a car seat that can adapt and be used from infant until the kid is ready to go without. Thoughts?
GTKY: What celebrity would you like to have lunch with? Taika Waititi. I just think that would be such a fun lunch.
@sawasap The click and go systems are super convenient for the first few months of babies life. They sleep so much that there is no way you are getting out of the house without them passing out, including doctors appointments, breastfeeding clinics, or running to the store for diapers. I find them especially helpful in the winter so you don't have you pull them out into the cold while moving from the car to the house. It's a lot easier to pop them out of the carseat into their crib or bassinet while you are inside.
Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: due Sept 9, I’m 13w 4d
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a hot wheels car!
Upcoming appointments: April 5th is my next appointment- I’ll get an ultrasound to measure my cervical length because I had a LEEP procedure 7 years ago. Also, I get my first COVID vaccine Friday!
How are you feeling?: so glad that my NIPT came back normal! I told all my coworkers once I found out. By the way, it’s a boy!!!
Rants/Raves: I can’t get enough bread lately 😂 sourdough, bagels, you name it!
Questions:
GTKY: What celebrity would you like to have lunch with? Jenny Lewis, the singer/songwriter.
@sawasap I recommend getting the infant seat that clicks out of your car and into a stroller! We kept our first in that system for the first year, then moved to a convertible car seat after that. It was a lifesaver for when he would fall asleep and I needed him to keep napping while we went into a store!
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: I think a matchbox car?
Upcoming appointments: Not for over two weeks. It'll be the longest I've gone this pregnancy.
How are you feeling?: Not great (mentally) about my low progesterone levels, but physically, getting better.
Rants/Raves: Rant - DH is on short term disability following a hernia operation and he is SO LOUD when he is home and I work from home 3 days a week. God give me strength. Rave - I was a genius for teaching our kid how to climb in/out of cars on his own, because that means I can just get our son out of bed in the morning, and DH can have him climb his own way to the changing table/carseat and take drop off/pick up off my plate while he's off. During COVID, daycare originally only wanted one parent doing drop off/pick up to limit exposure. They don't care as much anymore, but I've been doing it all since July.
Questions:
GTKY: What celebrity would you like to have lunch with? Anderson Cooper. I met him briefly once and he was SO NICE. I'd love to pick his brain.
@sawasap I'd go for the bucket seat to start. It's too convenient to carry the baby everywhere and works better than a traditional stroller when they can't sit up. We ended up converting our son to a convertible seat around 4 months (I pulled something in my back carrying the bucket), but the ease was still worth it while it lasted! The buckets fit in a grocery cart when you go to stores and I loved the bob stroller we have that held the bucket seat too.
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a lemon
Upcoming appointments: nothing until the end of April!!! Woohoo!
How are you feeling?: starting to get better - still have rough days but more and more good days
Rants/Raves: my kids have been playing really well together lately! It’s so nice to not have to occupy them all day. Plus, our weather is above freezing all week 🙌🏼 I am very ready for spring
Questions: nope
GTKY: What celebrity would you like to have lunch with? I honestly don’t know. The only thing that comes to mind is to pick a chef so they could make me a good lunch. Lol!
@sawasap if you can afford it, definitely get the bucket. You will need a larger car seat later (we switched around 10-11 months to a convertible) but the convenience of the bucket is unbeatable. They sleep SO MUCH when they are little and it’s so nice to not have to wake them whenever you go somewhere.
@emeraldduchess do you listen to The Office Ladies podcast? I really like Angela, she'd probably be a fun lunch date!
@sawasapI'm very pro infant car seat. It's so much easier to pop it in and out, especially since we'll be quickly coming into winter months and if you live where it's cold, it can be a pain to put baby in the convertible seat. We switched my son around 8 months when I felt like he was too heavy to carry in the bucket seat. Also, while most convertible seats can be used from birth, they don't always give a great fit for newborns.
@marymh80 I love Anderson Cooper! He's one of my top two silver foxes with Andy Cohen.
Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 13 weeks, 6 days (I'm always posting the day before the next week starts)
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: A clownfish
Upcoming appointments: I had an OB appointment yesterday and did my NIPT. Next appointment is an ultrasound on the 26th
How are you feeling?: Starting to feel much better physically. I have been having less headaches and nausea
Rants/Raves: **Possible TW**I was looking at something in my online chart and I came across my "problem list" that said I'm high risk diagnosis due to past pregnancies and a diagnosis of grief related to pregnancy loss. I obviously knew this but it felt weird to see it in writing.
Questions: none
GTKY: What celebrity would you like to have lunch with? This is so hard! Maybe Andy Cohen so I could get insider Bravo tea but I also love Reece Witherspoon and she seems like such a nice person who would be fun to hang out with (100% based on instagram )
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: I think a lemon?
Upcoming appointments: not for almost 2 weeks
How are you feeling?: still more nausea than I’d like but it’s finally a nice day here and is making me feel better
Rants/Raves: nausea should be gone by now, what is this bs?
Questions:
GTKY: What celebrity would you like to have lunch with? random but I think Savannah Guthrie. She lived in my Manhattan neighborhood so I’d occasionally see her around and our kids went to the same school. If we’d stayed in the city they would have been in the same class. I didn’t use to like her when she took over Ann’s anchor role but really do now. She killed it in recent high stakes interviews and seems relatable. With many other celebrities I imagine sitting down to lunch would be awkward and overwhelming.
Upcoming appointments: nothing until 16 weeks with OB
How are you feeling?: MUCH better. So thankful. Hardly nauseous at all now, still tired but not as bad. My hips are starting to hurt when I sleep and i can feel some major stretching and growing going on.
Rants/Raves: I am such a scatter brain these day. I cannot focus at all!
Questions: NATM
GTKY: What celebrity would you like to have lunch with? Ooh this is tough. Maybe Ryan Reynolds? Fellow Canadian and he honestly seems hilarious and like he would be so much fun to hang and talk to, not to mention easy on the eyes!
@emeraldduchess oooo good one! I love the Office and Parks & Rec - Amy Poehler would be a hoot!!
@sawasap I'm still waiting on my screening results too! Like wth is taking so long, if everything is fine I'd still like a courtesy call to tell me!
@williams-jen so jealous you got the Covid vaccine! I really hope they add pregnant woman to the priority list here.
@muggsd we are getting nice weather this week too! I am so excited for Spring, so over the snow and cold and ice!
@agea I'm sorry you're still feeling nauseous, I was sick all the way to 20 wks with my second. That's why I was so surprised this time to have it be gone around 12 weeks! Fingers crossed you turn a corner very soon.
Omg. I started this thread, then started writing my response and completely forgot about it. Big time baby brain going on here. Anyway:
Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 9/11 (13+3)
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a scoop of ice cream (although...not the kind of scoop I like probably 😂)
Upcoming appointments: UGH. My OB scheduling line is the worst. So I’m supposed to have an appointment set up for 16 weeks but I don’t have one yet.
How are you feeling?: Nausea is pretty much gone, fatigue is sticking around and I’m for sure in bed between 8-9 every night. I’m starting to have some RLP which is not super fun. But otherwise I feel pretty good! I’m wanting fruits/veggies which makes me happy.
Rants/Raves: Okay I have to rant about my OB. So the only way you can schedule appointments (other than making them when you’re there) is by calling and leaving a message for the OB Scheduler. Then, they call you back and you can schedule. Which is great except I work in a school and they apparently only work during regular working hours. I can’t pick up the phone when I’m with my students (it’s just me and like 1-2 preschoolers alone in a room together so I can’t even have someone sit with them for a minute). So I’ve called probably 4 times, and each time they call me back when I’m with students and can’t pick up the phone. I’m SO frustrated and I don’t know how to make this work!
Questions: nah
GTKY: What celebrity would you like to have lunch with? Guy Fieri! Lol first of all he seems like a genuinely cool person, second of all, he could give me restaurant recommendations for literally anywhere.
Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 9/14 - 13 weeks today
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a lemon
Upcoming appointments: 3/19 for my 14 week appointment
How are you feeling?: Fatigue. I’m also starting to get major food hankerings. Also going through periods between 3-6 pm where I’m STARVING and need to eat all the food.
Rants/Raves: Apparently, I have a blocked milk duct which has created a lump of sorts. After two weeks, a prescription for antibiotics, two ultrasounds and two consults with oncology breast surgeon, I have to basically live with it until baby comes and nursing/pumping should help release it. Just annoying. My breast isn’t weird-shaped or anything and it’s not hurting too badly. Just glad that it’s not cancer. Another rant, still waiting for NIPT results and was informed by rep that I should have it by tomorrow. They drew my blood on 2/19.
Questions: anyone else about ready to swap out regular pants for maternity? I was dying at work today in my high waisted, side zip black pants. Not cool.
GTKY: What celebrity would you like to have lunch with? Mr. Rogers
M14 January Siggy Challenge: Resolution I have no intention of keeping...SHOPPING LESS!
@runningoncookies I had to laugh at your scoop of ice cream because my ideal scoop is a pint of Ben and Jerry's On a separate note, I don't like Guy Fieri on tv (I kind of find him too over the top) but I've heard he's a super nice guy and he's done a ton for the restaurant industry during covid. I can't ever meet him because I'm sure I'll like him in person!
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: a troll doll
Upcoming appointments: I’m super late to this thread- just had one Thursday
How are you feeling?: It’s been a rough week and I’m feeling rough. I have been having really bad gas pains the last day and a half that are occasionally making me double over in pain, but nothing a little attractive belching and farting, and a little rest can’t fix
Rants/Raves: My OBGYN is consistently the best practice I’ve ever met when it comes to integrating mental health. I spoke to a midwife at my last appointment about my mental health and my concerns that the stress and trauma of the past year are impacting my pregnancy and will impact postpartum. She slowed way down to talk to me, referred me to a psychiatrist, and recommended I start a low dose of Zoloft- then really took my concerns about that seriously.
Questions: if anyone else has tried Zoloft or similar I’d really like to hear about your experience!!
GTKY: What celebrity would you like to have lunch with? Hmmmm.., Chrissy Teigen I think. Her first two are similar in age to mine and I think we’d have enough common ground to have a nice conversation
@cassafrass123 good for you for voicing your mental health concerns to your OB. I do not take Zoloft, but I have been on Lexapro (escitalopram) for several years and will continue to take it throughout my pregnancy and beyond. Both my primary care and my OB practice agree that my mental health HAS to be a priority. At my physical two weeks ago, my doctor pulled up the latest data and assured me that the risk of any complications with this particular medication is extremely low. I am sure that your midwife wouldn't have brought up Zoloft if there were any major concerns. The way I look at depression/anxiety meds is this: my brain doesn't properly make the chemicals I need to function and be myself. Just like a diabetic needs to take insulin for their body to function properly, I need to take meds for my brain to function the way it's meant to. Feel free to PM me if you want to talk about it more!
@cassafrass123 I am currently on Zoloft. I started right when I found out with this pregnancy because the anxiety was awful. I'm only on 50mg so a fairly low dose. It's much better now, but Zoloft is not personally ny favorite. It makes me very tired but the low dose isn't bad. I usually take Cipralex but my OB recommended Zoloft during pregnancy as I guess it's the most widely testing for safety. But as @emeraldduchess mentioned the risk of any complications is very low and you have to weigh the benefits of your own mental health as an anxious/depressed mom is no good for baby. Hope you find what works for you! Sounds like you have a great midwife advocating for you.
