Nursery Ideas

Let's share some ideas here!

Are you a FTM? Are you a STM(+) mom? What are your plans for the nursery? Are you moving older kiddos to another room? Do you have a theme? A colour palette.

Re: Nursery Ideas

  • We may be moving to a new house all together either the last few months of pregnancy or within the first 2-6 months after our little man is born. STM here. I like the idea of navy - either accent wall or as an accent color with maybe a little but of a subtle shark theme but I don’t like to go overboard with theme. My son’s room now is grey with an aqua and white accent wall with black decals and a few subtle hints of penguin. I will see if I can find a picture or two.

  • So for my first DS we did a "Transportation theme" 2nd DS was Nautical. This little man we are going to do stars and moons, a mix between twinkle twinkle little star and love you to the moon and back I guess. First 4 are the nurseries we did. Last one is my inspiration for the new one.
  • We live in a 2 bedroom apartment so the baby will be in our room at first and then she will share a room with her brother. We have no theme. I’m hopeful that we will be able to move to a bigger place eventually since the kids will be just under 5 years apart which is not ideal for room sharing
  • Wow you ladies are so creative - ours is "grey" LOL.

  • DS had a grey and red theme with a sports theme. Now, he shares that room with DD, so they have a hodge podge of grey, red, and pink things with Pokémon and princess in random places😂

This babe will be in our room, so nothing crazy. Our DD was in our room for a year, and I got her name in a decal for our wall above her crib. It’s still there soooo maybe I’ll finally take that down and replace with this babe’s name.
  • I don’t want to move DD out of her room so we’ll be starting from scratch in my current office/guest room. Haven’t decided on a colour scheme or theme yet but I’m leaning towards neutral walls with black and white textiles. Maybe Antarctic animals?
  • We moved this past June. Baby will be in our room for a while, but we’ve started on his room. It shares a Jack & Jill bathroom with DS’s room  :)

I’m not really into anything too “baby” themed and I’m not at all creative, so we’re straight up copying this accent wall I found online. No shame.

  • @kime783 Come design my house I love love love yours!!
I'll have to find pictures, but generally the new kid moves into the nursery in our house and the older kid moves out.
I have to say we tried room sharing with our 4.5 and 2 year old and last night I called mercy the 2 year old is going back to the nursery.  They can't room share yet.  It's been a total nightmare!

  • We’re thinking a “counting sheep” theme with everything black/white/gray. Don’t have anything solid planned yet though.
  • @bntfroggie ok sounds like a plan! I like things like that as a creative outlet (especially if it’s not my money 😂)! The whole kids waking each other up dilemma is what I’m afraid of even though they will be in different rooms!

@cjjr21 I really like the crib in the inspo picture

    @cammie0526 I LOVE that!!

@becks_726 and @pharmd93 you can’t go wrong with black and white!!

  • @kime783 When they are in separate rooms it's much better.  Kids aren't really tuned into a baby crying so they don't even flinch.  We separated them again last night and the little one was all smiles this morning I haven't seen that since we tried rooming them together.

  • We did a huge move of everyone.  We Have 2 masters in our house, 4 bedrooms all together plus an office which will turn into a bedroom way down the road as it's on a different level, has doors to the backyard and a fireplace.
We moved our almost 3 and almost 6 year old into a master together from their own rooms.  It's going well, my youngest wakes up about 30-60 minutes earlier when my eldest son but they seem to play lego and mario characters.  My daughter is abit jealous as she used to let her brother sleep with her every night.  She however didnt want to actually share a room fulltime.  She loved from a master to a smaller room which we redecorated for her.  I got my daughters master and the nursery will be next door.  It's currently a dump zone.  We usually keep our nursery natural colours with no theme other then mellow.  Usually greys, whites our glider is a super light mint green shade.  Will likely keep all of that in this room too.
  • My kids don’t really have themes, they have colors lol. DS was dusty blue/white/grey and DD was blush pink and floral. I mostly focused on colors rather than a true theme like woodland or whatever. DD has some science themed prints that are over her changing table but they are blush haha.

I don’t know about this baby yet. Our fourth bedroom is also Hs office. Baby will be with us for a while. Maybe I should think about this...

  • Well, this is baby number 4 and according to a blood test is our first girl. Our first little man had a fishing theme. The next boy had a mountain theme and our third boy had a cloud theme. We didn’t find out what he was so we went very neutral with his room.
With this one we were thinking Harry Potter themed (tasteful, not nerdy) for a boy or rainbows for a girl. We will be moving kiddos around a little but we are blessed with having 5 bedrooms so each of them will have their own room.
  • Are rainbows cool? lol we’re having our 2nd girl and eventually they will have to share a room for a bit so we are looking at this wall decal with bed on one side and crib on other side (both white) a night stand or some kind of small dresser in the middle, and dark wooden name plaques above each bed. I just liked these muted colors on the rainbow wall decal but idk if it’s overkill to dedicate an entire wall to a rainbow
  • @jessd0117 I think it’s cute! If it’s a decal it’s not permanent like paint and easier to transform or grow with them then too!
  • @kime783 thank you! It is a decal. I’ve wanted to do a pattern wallpaper wall for years but it’s SO expensive. This was a compromise that I hope will make the room look a little less boring
  • I found some cool sticker on etsy of monkeys for one of the walls and stars for the ceiling. I would like to have some animals in general, just to give me a good subject to talk about when trying to calm down the future baby,

I ordered a chest from a local renovating store, they are going to paint it and add details very creatively while staying simple.

Colors i m looking at are from annie sloan chalk paint. This is my short list, we ll see were we go from there :)
  • I finally got all of the junk out of my new nursery.  Its sitting pretty bare for now...I'm painting the dresser and book shelves white today and going to try and come up with a colour for the walls.  I have some samples I'm going to put up on the walls.  Nursing rocker/recliner has been steamed and put in my room, where baby will stay for 4-6 months.
  • @tiggywiggles love that accent wall!
  • @kime783 Thanks!  I painted it for my 6 year old last year.  I want to paint over it but my husband loves it.
