Getting anxiety over my first ob appt..I scheduled one for March 9 but just did more research and the hospital that OBGYN delivers in has super high episiotomy rates! Currently at 40% and at one point was 65%. The national standard is less than 5%. So I am trying to schedule with a new MD but the office is closed due to holiday... III call tomorrow.. hope i get in!
Mine is March 1st! 2 weeks from today, which seems so close. I'm so excited to see my midwife again. She's seen me through a lot. I wish I could give her a big hug, but COVID.
@tari_sara That is crazy high and would not make me feel comfortable either. My hospital just let me tear naturally (thanks giant headed kid who decided to come out with one fist raised up to his cheek), and I healed really quickly and easily from that.
@wishingforella My office tries to get everyone in between 8 and 10 weeks. In the past I've been closer to 10 weeks, but this time around they had multiple available appointments at 8 weeks. 7 weeks sounded early, but looking at your history in your intro, that makes more sense.
@aztecash Finally got an appointment with the OB at the hospital I prefer! Their episiotomy rate is 1.70% compared to the scary 40%. I'm still waiting for their call to schedule an ultrasound. fingers crossed!
I’ve been in the ER twice with spotting/bleeding and to my OB/GYN twice (checking betas). I have my first US tomorrow because of my history, and of course they’ll do all the initial blood work, etc. I’ll be 5w6d.
We were seeing an RE when we were TTC so we had a confirmation ultrasound with them this past Friday 2/12 at 6 weeks 4 days. I have my first appointment (virtual) with my OB on 2/24 (8 weeks 2 days) and then will schedule intake appointment (also virtual) and bloodwork at that time. First in person appointment will probably not be until 12 weeks or so.
@tari_sara glad you found a better hospital! Mine let me tear naturally and even though I was induced early and he was tiny I had 3rd degree tears which felt AWFUL during my hospital stay but healed so quickly! I was in 4 nights and by the time I got home my pain was minimal.
@tingsmom and @lyndsayem35 I hope your ultrasounds go well today! My first is today too! I keep trying to remind myself it might still be too early to see heartbeat yet today, I’m 5 + 5
Just got our 4th HCG reading (826 at 20 dpo), and scheduled for our first u/s at 7w4d on Mar 9.
Now to wait and stay busy for the next 3 weeks...! Trying to remember that at this point, there are good if not perfect odds of a healthy baby, and letting go of the anxiety a bit.
@tingsmom thank you! I’m wishing I had made my appointment for the morning instead of the afternoon as I’ve been anxious all day but trying to make it easier for my mom having it over my older son’s nap.
yeah the tear was pretty terrible 🤣 I could hardly move out of bed the first few days and was constantly loading up with those ice pads and witch hazel pads and dermoplast lol oh and they had me on a ton of pain meds but it healed so quickly I can’t complain!
Just scheduled my first appointments on Monday. They want to do a dating ultrasound, which I think is weird since I was tracking my cycles with OPKs and BBT knew my LP. But since my periods varied from 25-32 days long, they wanted to do one. These aren’t standard practice where I go, but I’m excited for the sneak peek. That is scheduled for March 5. My 8 week nurses only appointment is scheduled for March 16.

My ultrasound went well today, they have me at 5 + 4 which measures exactly with when I ovulated (I felt ovulation pain cycle day 15) and they saw a gestational and yolk sac! Of course a little bummed they couldn’t see baby yet but my doctor said it’s very normal not to and everything looks good, so I know I need to chill 😂 next week I’ll be 6 + 4 on ultrasound day so hopefully will see baby and atleast a flicker heartbeat then!
@momofmiracles31889 congratulations on a a great ultrasound! My doctors office called at 1:10 to let me know my 1:40 appointment was rescheduled for tomorrow at 10am because the doctor is stuck at the hospital! So disappointed!
@momofmiracles31889 that’s great news! Also great you can see the baby in a week!
@lyndsayem35 what a bummer, that you had to reschedule. At least the appointment tomorrow is earlier, I hope you have good news tomorrow! I will be thinking of you.
Thank you ladies!! @lyndsayem35 that is such a bummer about your ultrasound getting pushed back I would’ve been so bummed!! Prayers for good news tomorrow!
First appointment is March 16th, I'll be 9 wk, 6 days...it seems like an eternity! With my last one, I was still exclusively breastfeeding my oldest so I had no idea how far along I was. So they did an ultrasound at what ended up being 5 1/2 weeks.
Re: When is your 1st prenatal appointment?
