  I apparently got a crafting/baking bug up my butt Saturday night after a trip to Hobby Lobby and antiqued some Ball jars for my mantle. It was looking bare and needed something and I'm happy with how they turned out. I'm going to get a wooden box or tray to put underneath and some baby's breath to put inside. I also HAD TO make an Instant Pot cheesecake at like 11pm so it could cool overnight. It came out really good! It was a little more creamy than I'd like so I need to play with the recipe to figure out how to make it just a little more firm.

  Opted for the frosting instead of the glaze and holy moly is it sweet. 3 cups of powdered sugar!! Will be reducing the powdered sugar the next time I make these.

  This is not super impressive, but it was delicious, so I thought I’d share! We made funfetti brownies this weekend.

  They didn’t turn out as gooey as promised, so if you have a hotter running oven, I’d recommend baking for a little less time. I’ll probably try 22 minutes next time. *mention of LO in first spoiler box- picture in the second box*
  
  

  But DS (3.5) could pour all the pre-measured ingredients and mix them all by himself, and he loved how colorful they are. Definitely a winner in the toddler department!

  So DH and I had a bit of a bake off. We had to each bake something. No recipes allowed, just using ingredients we thought would work and just see where it took us. And here are the end results: mines the chocolate brownie-cake looking one with a Nutella cream swirl and DH’s is a sponge cake with caramelized apples and cream in the middle. All homemade! I didn’t know DH knew how to make caramel 😂

  I love to cook (and would say I am an above average one) but I hate baking because I don't have patience and hate how meticulous it is. I tried my hand at hamentaschen (traditional cookie for Purim) and it was an epic fail. I misread the directions and ended up trashing it all. 
  
  I did make an olive oil cake this morning, which, despite burning the bottom (which I scraped off), was pretty tasty - very light and lemony: https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1019986-olive-oil-cake
  
  I was preheating the oven and forgot that DH was proofing a sourdough (he is a better baker than I), so suffice it to say he was not pleased with me. I also ruined my bowl.
