MPM/nesting wo 2/1

Pregnancy GIFs Tenor

What is everyone making, planning or otherwise up to this week?

Re: MPM/nesting wo 2/1

  • We started getting home chef so I actually have at least 3 meals planned for the week.
Pork tenderloin medallions with French green peppercorns and zucchini
Spinach and ricotta ravioli bolognese with parmesan
Chicken Rockefeller with butternut squash and crispy onions
Aside from that it’ll probably be DoorDash. I’ve been craving chips and salsa so I’ll probably order Mexican food at least twice.

Hopefully we’ll be hiring someone this week to help out with DS when baby is born. Aside from that I’m not sure I’m going to get much done this week, unless getting the dryer vent and air ducts cleaned counts.

  • I made egg salad yesterday and Philly cheesesteak stuffed peppers last night, and I have planned white chicken enchiladas this week. I had another meal planned involving a pound of lean ground beef, but unfortunately I can't remember what it was lol. So now I need to find a recipe for a pound of beef lol.

I was called back to in-person work for this week, so probably not as much nesting happening.
  • Meal plan: whatever DH bought from the grocery store this weekend. 😂 I think it includes sloppy joes, hot dogs, mac and cheese, chicken, and some pasta. There’s also tomato soup and grilled cheese. He’s basically doing all the cooking these days.

As far as nesting, I’m still couched thanks to sciatica so I’m planning and making lists and working on my last couple Etsy shop orders. I’m also trying to resist the urge to buy a billion things on my phone. I rallied and cleaned the kitchen this morning and now regret standing for so long.
  • @forevertired I think I’m going to start upping my home chef meals so I don’t have to plan. Plus it keeps me out of Costco which actually saves us money! 😂

I am still interested in food but get full so quickly. It is discouraging. I need to start eating smaller portions so I don’t feel so miserable.I’ve got nothing planned for the week other than one home chef meal (chicken scampi). We have been doing really good not eating out so trying to keep that up. But I am getting tired of planning the meals every day.

  • This week we're having pulled pork, baked ziti, BLTs and grilled cheese with tomato soup. I actually mustered up the motivation yesterday to go through the cloth diapers my SIL had given me and see what was usable and how much more I'll need to buy. I feel accomplished just for doing that! I also started reading Mindful Birthing again which doesn't count as nesting but at least it's a step forward.
  • @forevertired @pelorunningmama those sound good-- I have old hello fresh recipe cards from when we used them that I have had DH cook this week.. We had-
    blackened cod with corn/avocado/tomato salad
seared chicken with roasted potatoes and mushrooms/balsamic vinegar and kale

the rest of the dishes are curry based and I don't have curry paste so who the heck knows how that will go, will probably end up doing breakfast for supper.
  • So far we've had breakfast for dinner and fish.  I think we'll do take-out tonight.  I have no motivation to cook right now.  I'm also losing steam on gathering/organizing/cleaning baby stuff.  We still have to put the nursery together so we should probably do that soon before I lose all motivation.

  • @forevertired @pelorunningmama yay for HomeChef! It’s been saving me lately. Got 2 meals heading to us for this week 🙌🏻 besides those I’m going to try a crockpot carnitas recipe & an IP elote chicken recipes. I feel like I’m going back down the slope of needing easy quick meals (like 1st tri haha).
And @pelorunningmama seriously if I can keep myself out of costco it’s a money saver for sure 😆 I actually did Instacart/Costco today for that exact reason...delivery charge yes, but I didn’t buy another $100 worth of stuff so win!
  • @forevertired @goldpolkadot @pelorunningmama I've been looking into trying a meal kit delivery service, but I haven't taken the plunge yet. I agree, I'm headed down that same slope of needing quick and easy meals now too!
  • @goldpolkadot I think instacart would save me for Costco too. It’s just always such a huge money suck but there are good deals every time! And things I can only get there that I’m missing. I am skipping again this week because we just had to put two new tires on my giant car. Bye bye fun money for Costco.

  • @bbrahmbhatt I never thought I would need a meal kit service but with this pregnancy/covid I have been considering the idea more.  It was a little overwhelming doing research since there are so many different companies! My boss told me that she tried tons of different ones but stuck to Hello Fresh because apparently it has the most flavor. Right now they have a really good deal on your first 12 meals so I decided to sign up to at least see if I like it or not.  You can always cancel if it doesn't work out.  My first box comes next Monday.  Will let you know how we like it.
  • @aguamala yes! I think I tried like 4-5 of the most popular ones like all in a row a few years ago. I’d do the weeks that were discounted & then just cancel. Hello fresh was actually my fav too out of all of them. And we still cook some of the recipes on our own now. Currently doing home chef because we had a discount/credit through our credit card company (and I’ve been super glad!!). Let us know what you think!! In general, as someone who usually likes to meal plan and grocery shop and cook, I feel like it’s kind of a mental break in needing to most of that and a fun way to try a new recipe but it’s not necessarily a huge time or money saver (unless you do the oven ready meals and/or make sure you have a discount for the boxes)

@pelorunningmama yes! We basically always have to have a giant Costco bag of shredded mexican cheese (you know the ones I’m taking about?!) on hand for quesadillas, eggs, whatever - so if we run out of that it prompts a trip in 😆 I’m sorry about the tires, booooo!! My van needed new ones a few months ago and it’s such an ugh adulting thing to have to spend $$ on 😂
