Trying to Get Pregnant

TWW Thursday 1.28

**This is a thread that welcomes all regardless of where they are at in their TTC journeys. Please be mindful of topics that are discussed that could be hurtful to those going through tough times. Mention of children or pregnancies of others should have a TW (trigger warning) and be in a spoiler if possible, and only be mentioned if it is extremely pertinent to the conversation. Thanks for keeping this a safe place for us all to engage!**

    Timing: doesn’t matter

    Typical LP length: ~13

R/R: I feel bad posting another “woe is me” negative post but that’s what this is for, right? DH and I got in a fight last night. We’ve resolved it and we’re now both on the same page but the reason our discussion turned into a “fight” is because when I started the conversation (a serious one, mind) he just picked up his PS5 controller and started playing his game???!! Like, I could understand if I made him pause the game to chat with me but he just started playing while I was talking to him. He immediately knew he f*cked up but still. AND THEN later in the conversation I had just poured my heart out to him and was so vulnerable and emotional and I go “how does what I said make you feel?” And he lets one RIP! Like really?? You couldn’t hold it in for 5 minutes? Don’t get me wrong, I normally find farts hilarious but after I just poured my heart out to you and literally ask “how does me expressing myself make you feel?” And he basically just farts on my feelings. Time and a place, dude. I was like “why are you being such a GUY right now!” 🙄 ugh, men. And then it was my moms birthday yesterday and I got her this really thoughtful gift so I wanted to FaceTime to see her reaction and she opened it without me anyway 🙄 I know it’s her birthday but I was looking forward to seeing her reaction lol she’s done this so many times before so I guess I’m just used to it. Just in a huff this morning 😤😂 On a brighter note! It WAS just a clerical error yesterday and I will in fact by starting my job on the 8th of Feb, not March. Phew 😪

  • I moved here!! I got solid crosshairs!! Woohoooooo!

@jackie_dunny I'm sorry you guys had a fight. Maybe he thought that would break the tension? What was the gift?

    Month/Cycle: 2/1 AL

    CD/DPO: 22/3

    Timing: -8 thru 0 lol

    Typical LP length: Not sure

Testing: 23 is my lucky number, so I might be insane and test on the 3rd at 9dpo

    R/R: *TW*
Preschool is canceled again due to a covid contact. I'm so over this!! So I guess I'm off again today! *END TW*

I have a doc appt this afternoon to get my wrists checked. Both of my hands have been going numb and I had an EMG that showed carpal tunnel in my right. My grip is significantly weaker in that hand, so I want to get it checked.

I finished painting the kitchen at my office yesterday but the original paint was oil (Ugh WHYYYY) so when I took the tape off some of the edges peeled. Fingers crossed that it holds and I don't walk back in to a HUGE MESS.

CS/Q: Does anyone else get heartburn in the TWW? It's too early to be a symptom but last month was the only other time I've had it like that! It's mostly when I bend down. I didn't have it in the WTO, so maybe it's progesterone related?

  • @demimondaine ooh fingers crossed for a lucky 23! 🤞🏻Sorry about the annoying cancellation! Ouch, good luck with your wrists! I hope you get some good news. Are you a righty of lefty? Also🤞🏻for no mess in the office kitchen! No, I don’t think he was doing it to break the tension because it wasn’t even a fight until he started being so rude, it was just a discussion. And the gift was a picture that I took of our dog *TW* that passed away about a month ago. He was my mom’s fourth child, really ❤️ It’s printed on slate which is totally their ✨vibe✨

  • @jackie_dunny ugh that is a very 'guy' thing to do isn't it? Sorry you had a fight and hopefully you'll have a chance to talk out how it made you feel. I certainly have moments like that with DH where I'm being so serious and he seems off in his own world.

@demimondaine good luck with your wrists, hopefully it's not too serious.

    Month/Cycle: 1/1

    CD/DPO: 23/9

    Timing: -5, -3, -1, 0

    Typical LP length: 11-12

Testing: Going to wait till Monday/Tuesday

R/R: I recently got a promotion at work but have been waiting on the paperwork to come through for over a month. Still don't even know what the new pay is going to be as HR is devastatingly slow. Getting a bit frustrated at this stage as everything is quite backed up and I can't get things going until they make the announcement. So I decided to take a few days off next week (my hands are tied anyway and I'm doing two simultaneous jobs now as a result of how slow they're being!) and hope that they'll have it sorted by the week of the 8th. Hoping to use the time to declutter and get the house organised in preparation for our big move in June (never too early, right?)

CS/Q: Nothing too interesting, trying actively to not obsess about temps rn as all is out of my control in TWW.

  • @dsher wow that’s so frustrating! Get your ish together HR! Are you going to be keeping this job/promotion when you move?

  • @jackie_dunny fingers very seriously crossed! The time difference is going to be significant (8hrs) so I’m not sure how they’ll feel about it. Have come to terms with the fact that I may not be able to but trying to get as much time with the new title on my CV as I can!!
  • @dsher wait, where are you moving to where there’s going to be 8 hours time difference? For some reason I thought you had said Canada?

  • @jackie_dunny Girl, that is what this site is for! Please rant away all you need. I’m so frustrated for you that YH couldn’t read the room and be serious. MH sometimes does this thing where he’ll say take something I said during a serious conversation and repeat it in a joking way a few days later. It’s infuriating and completely downplays the significance of what I said. I hope you guys can start communicating better. I’m glad HR got back to you right away and you’ll get to start sooner!

@demimondaine Have you been doing anything repetitive with your hands? I know a few years ago I tried to learn how to knit. I spent a good half a day kitting away… only to wake up the next day with the worse pain in my hands/wrists! I even had to wear a brace for a little bit lol. Hopefully you find out what’s going on.

@dsher Yay for a promotion! Do they know you’re planning on moving? You’re in Ireland right now, right? How do you like it? I want to move there sooo bad one day!

    Month/Cycle: 2/2

CD/DPO: wtf knows any more lol (see OPK help thread). I guess I’ll go with 16/1

Timing: -4, -2, +1 (we missed O day because I thought FW was over already and by the time I realized it wasn’t… shit just hit the fan yesterday)

    Typical LP length: 13

    Testing: at 10 dpo

R/R: This cycle is frustrating me. I took the relaxed approach since we’ll be doing a treatment cycle next month anyways. So there was no pressure on this cycle to begin with… Then my wonky long LH surge happened and made me get stressed about everything. I usually have a pretty good feeling of when I O (I get crampy and my ovaries hurt). That usually only lasts a day, max. Well this cycle I’ve been having cramps and “swollen” ovaries for the past 2 days. I’m not cramping any more today but my ovaries still feel sore. Who knows what’s going on in there. We got one last BD in this morning (a rather pitiful session), so we did the best we could with what happened I think. I did have a small amount of spotting after sex this morning. I wonder if that’s ovulation spotting?

    I go here now! Woot!

@jackie_dunny what others have said: this site if for ranting! Sorry YH didn't read the room. It does sound highly insensitive. How did you resolve the fight? Also sorry you didn't get a chance to observe your mom's reaction to your sweet gift. Sending you non-creepy virtual hugs filled with "feel-goods"

@demimondaine good luck with the wrist check! Hopefully you've caught it in time so no surgery is required. I also like your attitude re: temps in TWW. I'm with you... I switched to only using temps on my Oura ring which basically just shows delta from my baseline. In WTO, it's below the baseline; after I O, it's above the baseline. But I don't actually know what the absolute temps are. Oh, and I definitely get heartburn in mid- to late-TWW; sadly, haven't been KUed yet. Also... good for you on your -8 through O. I don't know how you have the energy! Haha.

@dsher I'm sorry that your HR is moving so slowly. Do you work for the govn't or another large/dowdy org by any chance? I find those are the "usual suspects" when it comes to HR. (In high tech, everyone is super fast because that's an edge over other companies. Sometimes, all it takes is a clerical HR error, and the candidate goes to a competitor.) Is your new job still in Ireland? When do you anticipate your move?

@LJMoon6 As you might have picked up, I'm a huge fan ("groupie") of the Egg Whisperer and she says that her advice to her patients is "stop checking OPKs as soon as you get a first positive" because you could ovulate 12 to 72 hours after that first positive. So, yeah, I guess that advice is not helpful. Are you doing anything else to confirm O? (i.e. checking bbt, cervix, etc.) That said, I think it's safe to say you O'ed yesterday.

    Month/Cycle: 12/13

    CD/DPO: 15/1

    Timing: -4, -3, O (IUI), +1

Typical LP length: last time I eked out a 14 day LP without progesterone supplementation! Hopefully a repeat this month. I'm going to get my progesterone checked at 6 and 8 DPO.

Testing: 10DPO (2/7) Why so early? See spoiler.

I'm going to Lake Tahoe next weekend with another couple (they're also TTCing) and so I promised my friend I'll test when we're there. We've really been supporting one another through this journey so it feels good to do that. Otherwise I wouldn't test unless AF didn't show.

R/R: rave -- oh man, I slept SO well last night. Mind you, I had to take a sleeping aid (just over the counter pills I bought at Costco). Then this morning MH wanted to get a +1 in, so we HIOed and then I dozed off again. I'm feeling SO rested!

I don't know why FF gives me a timing score of "Low"; it looks like they don't count an IUI as BD, which SUCKS. Like, that's my best chance at this, right?! And we can't have sex at 2 days prior to IUI, so meh. FF is great at keeping track things, but their predictions don't use comprehensive data. Anyways, I definitely O'ed sometime between Wed early morning and today since my temp (according to Oura) was still below baseline yesterday morning, and this morning it was above baseline. So I think our timing was great this cycle! (Along with great lining and a seemingly good egg.)

CS/Q: I could share what I see in my Oura report, if anyone's interested.

Edited to fix Tue > Wed.

@acleverusername glad you got some good sleep and some good HIO sessions in

@dsher I see now that you are currently based in Ireland. I don’t think I knew that! We’re practically neighbors at the minute!

  • @jackie_dunny Yes Ireland! You're in the UK, right? Fellow early bird on here :) But west coast of canada will = 8 hour time difference which is significant with normal working hours!

@LJMoon6 Thank you! I've been after this job for a while so I was delighted when I got in Dec! They don't know about the move yet  :| to be honest mostly because we've only just finalised everything ourselves (it's for MH's work so there were loads of bits to apply/organise for). Planning on telling them in April and that way I'll have a solid couple of months under my belt to prove I can be effective in this job remotely! I've been living in Ireland for 6 years now and I love it! I so would recommend! And not just Dublin, we lived in Cork for a year and that was amazing too. Have you visited before?

@acleverusername ohh boy, it's actually an NGO which would rival any governmental org in their bureaucratic slowness!!! The job is still in Ireland (an internal move in the same org) but we're all remotely based now and my org generally has loads of people working overseas. My only concern is the time difference just being that bit too big, you know? Most people we have overseas are in Europe/Africa so it's only ~5 hours max and they still catch some of the GMT working day. We shall see! Delighted for you that you got that dreamy rest! Gotta say I'm pretty jealous, running on fumes today!
  • @acleverusername No, I’m only using OPKs since they have always been reliable for me. I did temp for a few months just to confirm O day was lining up with the OPKs but as soon as I confirmed it I dropped the temp. I might try adding that in next cycle… not sure how letrozole will affect that. I’m so happy you’re having such a good cycle!

@jackie_dunny At least he realized he messed up! That’s good. I’m glad you guys were able to work through it last night and not have it linger. Men are awful some times!

@dsher I really hope they’ll be ok with you being overseas! That would be ideal. Would you travel back every once and a while for in person stuff? I have been to Ireland! MH and I went about 4 years ago for a couple weeks. We flew into Dublin, rented a car, and drove straight out. Didn’t even see any of Dublin lol. I think our favorite was Galway. We both loved it so much. I’ve always had this dream about living in Europe one day. After that trip I think I’ve settled on Ireland being the best option for us. I posted on here last week about finding a job in Cork that I would qualify for. I thought long and hard about it and decided not to apply. It just doesn’t feel like the right time, especially with us TTC right now. Some day though! I hope lol. My great great grandma came from Ireland, it’d be cool to “bring the family back.” lol

  • @jackie_dunny That's so sweet! My parents are ALL about dogs too! I got them masks with their dog's face for xmas!   :D

@LJMoon6 You made me connect that my wrists really started bothering me in November after I took on rehabbing this apartment for my office! Painting is def a huge trigger, but I didn't connect it!

@acleverusername I ended up getting a cortisone shot, but just like my primary said, going to a surgeon usually ends on a rec for surgery. He said it doesn't usually get better and eventually everyone does the surgery. Which is crazy since I wore a brace on my left hand for 6 weeks nonstop and was able to reverse my tenosynovitis in that hand, so I was hoping for a similar rx. And as for the -8, I expected to O a heck of a lot sooner!! It was brutal lol
