Infertility

Long Time Reader - Recently Joined (child mentioned)

Hi Everyone, I'm new to actually posting on here so please forgive me (and let me know) if I get anything wrong. Here is a little of my history:

Apr 2017 – started TTC after being on BC for 10+ years
Jun 2017 – natural BFP
Feb 2018 – gave birth to first child, 2.5 weeks early via c-section
Apr 2019 – finally got period and began TTC for #2
Apr 2020 – no luck TTC, decided to meet with RE, diagnosed with unicornuate uterus and low AMH
Jun 2020 – first round of IUI resulting in chemical
Jul 2020 – second round of IUI – BFN
Nov 2020 – Started IVF; egg retrieval for freeze all and PGT-M and -A testing (BRCA carrier). 10 retrieved, 9 mature, 6 fertilized, 3 day-5, 1 unaffected embryo
Waiting for FET in Jan/Feb with one genetically unaffected embryo

Please feel free to ask me any questions about the above - I am an open book and want to be able to help anyone else going through this or about to.

  • Hi @mbradfo2! That's so cool, hopefully our next LOs will implant soon and we'll have similar due dates for them as well :). I always planned to have my kids close in age but infertility has changed those plans -- were you planning to spread your kids out 3 - 4 years, if you don't mind me asking? I'm always curious on age-gap perspectives, there's so many pros and cons to them.
  • 3 years ideally -- from what i understand, it's a great gap size for siblings -- long enough so the older sibling can understand that they are a big sister/brother and have had plenty of one-on-one time with parents, so less likely (not ZERO, but less) to have big struggles over attention. Also long enough that big life changes like toddler bed and potty training are pretty well set  since family changes can disrupt any progress on those. And it's close enough that they will be able to play together fairly easily. That being said, I have no rosy illusions about sibling relationships -- mine with my sister has always been complicated; I could be pretty awful to her (and she to me).
