Re: UO 1/21

  • Not sure if this is a UO but I hate brushing my kids teeth. The sound of it just grosses me out. Like you know the nails on a  chalkboard reaction some people have? That doesn't bother me in the slightest. It's the sound of or watching someone brush their teeth. It just makes me want to vom. This isn't a pregnancy sensitivity either, I've always hated it lol

  • @CanadianGamerMom I bought DD an electric toothbrush just to I didn't have to brush her teeth.  This way she can do it herself and I don't have to wrestle her to do it.   I was reminded of this when my niece spent the night recently and I had to brush her teeth for her. :D

  • I usually have to fight my 2yo to brush his teeth and that doesn't really bother me. It's specifically brushing the other two kids, and watching/listening to anyone else lol brushing my babys teeth is fine though, it's weird. DH is a loud brusher and he will sometimes purposely come up behind me and do it in my ear just to bug me 😂

  • UO: I hate kids party favors and think 90% of them are a waste of money and effort.
First, if a kid has a party and treats at school, i think it’s silly that all kids in the class need to walk away with a goody bag.
Secondly, nearly everything that comes home goes in the garbage
-decorative pencil: we don’t own a pencil sharpener
-tiny erasers: out of your mind if you think my toddlers are erasing anything
-trio of bubble wands: great, let’s dump them straight out on the couch
-tiny rubber stamps: look, stamps on my walls
    -crappy stickers
-some type of cheap stuffed or gooey toy

I will say my 2yo came home with a coloring book and markers the other day which I thought was semi useful. Turns out they aren’t washable markers so that was a fun surprise.

Anyway both of my kids have birthdays coming up and while we will definitely send class treats I refuse to do party favors.
  • @agea Agree about party favors. I have issues with my in-laws buying all my kids a gift when it’s one of their birthdays. I flat out told my MIL no about giving gifts to the other kids at the birthday party. What does she do? Brings gifts for all the other kids. Did they get those gifts? Nope! They need to learn to celebrate others with a giving heart and not expect something every time we are having a birthday party for someone else. It drives me nuts.
  • @agea totally agree with the party favors! We went to a princess themed birthday party a while back and they sent home little golden books (all princess stories) which I thought was a cute idea and probably just as cheap as a bunch of junk. Last year for DS1’s 4th birthday we sent home fancy #4 cookies in little baggies as a favor.
  • I hate when people refer to their 4 year olds as toddlers.
  • @deeziraywatt...I consider 4 years old still toddler aged I guess..I feel like there's nothing between "toddler" and "kid" and I guess in my mind "kid aged" is elementary school aged so like 5 years+
  • I have always felt like 3-4 years is considered a preschooler. 🤷🏻‍♀️
