Trying to Get Pregnant

TWW Thursday 1/7

**This is a thread that welcomes all regardless of where they are at in their TTC journeys. Please be mindful of topics that are discussed that could be hurtful to those going through tough times. Mention of children or pregnancies of others should have a TW (trigger warning) and be in a spoiler if possible, and only be mentioned if it is extremely pertinent to the conversation. CD/DPO: 23/8

    Timing: -5, -3, -2, -1

    Typical LP length: Unsure

Testing: I was too distracted with getting caught up on the news this morning and went pee without even thinking about it. I’m surprised by myself but it’s way too early anyways.

R/R: Not much to report today. Wearing my comfy flannel at work today with not much on the schedule. Should be a nice, relaxing day… Which I probably just jinxed myself lol.

    CS/Q: nope

  • @LJMoon6 I have definitely forgotten to test, even with no distraction haha. It always happens the moment I'm done peeing.

    Month/Cycle: 43/2 AL

    CD/DPO: 17/1

Timing: -5/-4 (it was technically just after midnight), -3, -1, 0

Typical LP length: 13 days; might end up with another 14 day LP - we'll see

    Testing: next Saturday 1/16

R/R: we have an electrician coming today to discuss upgrading and moving our electrical panel plus a few other things. I can't wait to hear their opinion of the wiring of our boiler system because it's like a hanging rats nest with wire nut after wire nut connecting things and it's so sketchy. Like toss cooked spaghetti up in the air and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference that's how ridiculous it is and looks. It's not neat at all and as an electrical engineer myself it is an insult lol

    CS/Q: temp spike! Whoop!

I'm kind of worrying I'm going crazy with TTC this time around. I only go by my period tracking apps estimates of when I'm fertile, and it seems to line up with things I'm experiencing. I also wonder if I should start doing ovulation tests...but I think that would make me crazier. But also...I can't help but feel weird or maybe inadequate(?), so many people I've read things from are like "I felt the exact moment I ovulated from the left/right ovary" and I'm just over here like....you guys feel that!?

  • @inthewoods23 Hi friend. I’ve been lurking these boards for the past few years and have been following along with your journey. I’m sorry for the rollercoaster you’ve been on. I’m glad you seem to be in a good place. I have so much confidence that you’ll get your THB soon! … anyways. That’s exciting about your electrical work. We need to get some work done too (light switches in the bedrooms don’t actually control the lights…) but I feel weird about hiring that work out. I feel like I should be able to do that myself. Probably shouldn’t though lol.

@babyroma Many people have no clue when they’re ovulating, so don’t feel weird about it!! OPKs are nice since they take the guess work out of it. I wasn’t going to use OPKs at first but then caved and bought a pack of 50 off amazon. It does make things a little more stressful, imo, but I like knowing exactly what’s going on. I actually do get really crampy when I ovulate but if I wasn’t paying attention I would just think it’s gas, that’s how subtle it is for me.

  • @babyroma I would definitely start at least with OPKs. Apps likely start off by assuming ovulation occurs on CD14 so if you're not entering any additional info for signs of ovulation, that may never change. There's always EOD sex throughout the cycle to completely cover your bases but that gets old really fast, at least for us haha.

@LJMoon6 been a long journey haha. The BFP in September was a very welcomed surprised and it sucks that we lost it, but that really reinvigorated our feelings on the matter. The hardships of the last 3 years have kind of been erased from our minds and we're full speed ahead. Ok my electrical talk got long so I'm putting it in a spoiler lol. Blame my electrical engineering degree. Not the same as an electrician, but still... fun topic to me.
We have a couple switches in our house that appear to control nothing. There's a dimmer switch in our kitchen and another 2 switches in the basement that don't appear to affect anything. Yay for having an old house haha. You never know how things are in older homes with many previous owners over the years. That's certainly less of a problem compared to yours with switches that are definitely supposed to control the lights in the room!

We just discovered the other day that our laundry and an adjacent room plus our kitchen outlets are ALL on the same circuit. The electrician that came out said that's pretty common in homes. Thankfully he also said often times the wiring for multiple rooms are just all connected at a point in the panel so that's easy to split into individual breakers when we upgrade. Otherwise I think it gets really complicated to split stuff up if power is daisy chained from room to room. And if it's not tied at the panel, we do plan on remodeling our upstairs at some point involving tearing down a few walls so we could possibly get the circuits split then. I'm excited for a new panel because the labels on our current panel don't make sense or don't tell you everything on it. We need to replace our doorbell and when DH turned the breaker labeled "DB" off and back on, one of our Google Minis rebooted so it was like... wait what room was that in?? Turns out that breaker controls the living room (which does make sense being right off our foyer). DH got shocked once changing an outlet thinking power was off, but that particular outlet/wall was tied to the breaker labeled for the adjacent bedroom. That was definitely a WTF. It's just so goofy.

  • @inthewoods23 I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m glad it’s reignited your fire though. I have a physics degree and took a few electrical engineering classes…. Those were not my cup of tea lol. The light switches in the bedrooms control one outlet. The previous owners installed ceiling fans with lights and didn’t wire it into the light switch for some reason. So we have to just pull the cord on the ceiling fan to get the lights on. It’s really not that big of a deal but it would be nice if the light switches actually worked for the lights! Your issue sounds complicated! Lol. I’m glad your getting a new panel (I hate when things aren’t labeled correctly. I’ve definitely shocked myself before because of this too lol). And a potential remodel sounds fun!

Underwent IVF in Nov/Dec and ended up with no normal embryos. So we decided to try naturally in December. Maybe IVF meds kicked things in to better gear?

  • @inthewoods23 I might try the opks this next cycle if things don't work out. I'm not sure I'm ready for all the charting and stuff haha.
What are the favorite opks around here? I was looking into some of the clearblue digital earlier and those seem promising.
