What are you reading? “The Great Believers” by Rebecca Makkai. For some reason I’m having trouble getting started but I’m going to try to make more of an effort because the reviews are so good for it.
What is the best book you read in 2020? I don’t know if I’m becoming more picky or just not choosing the right books but it’s been awhile since I’ve read something I really loved. The best book I read this year was probably “Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine.”
What’s on your reading list for 2021? Hopefully I’ll get some ideas from you all! I still haven’t read “Where the Crawdads Sing” but planning to get to that this year!
I’m currently listen to the first Harry Potter books I could never get into them as a kid but listening to them has been much easier. I’d love to “read” all of them this year. I didn’t read much in 2020 for personal purposes but I read The Wild Robot Escapes with my students and I really loved that. Definitely a youth novel, but so cute and well written.

Oooh, thanks for starting this @bows22! I've been using Covid as a reason to get back to reading, someone I loved as a child, but gave up when I started college because of all the college-related reading that was required.
What are you reading? I've got a couple of non-fiction books started while I wait for my library to deliver our Book Club selection of "The Vanishing Half". The non-fiction books are: Never Split The Difference (about negotiation; written by a former FBI negotiator) and Twilight of Democracy: The Seductive Lure of Authoritarianism (yeah, this one's a bit heavy but a very interesting read.)
What is the best book you read in 2020? Pachinko was really good (but LOOONG); as was Little Fires Everywhere (SHORT!).
What’s on your reading list for 2021? I want to spent more time reading up on politics (a personal interest), and that list stands at: - The Future of Nostalgia - The Tyranny of Merit: What's Become of the Common Good? - Out of the Wreckage: A New Politics for the Age of Crisis
Also, we have our next book club selection (because it's a 10-week wait at the library) and that's Anxious People by Fredrik Backman.

What are you reading? Currently re-reading Outlander
What is the best book you read in 2020? The Nickel Boys: really well done and very sad. I also thought Drink was interesting.
What’s on your reading list for 2021? The Ballard of Songbirds and Snake
**TW** TTC History
TTC#3 since Nov 2020 at ages 35 & 39 TTC#1 - 2 IVF cycles, 4 transfers, 2 miscarriages (LC age 4) TTC#2 - a very welcome surprise without intervention (LC age 2)
What are you reading? I just started The Other Mrs. by Mary Kubica. It's a mystery/thriller which I prefer for audiobooks (I have a long commute).
What is the best book you read in 2020?
Some of these are old books that I just got around to this year. I added TWs for both traumatic and pregnancy-related content.
-I'll Be Gone in the Dark (non-fiction true crime) *TW*
violence, rape
-Where the Crawdads Sing *TW*
sexual violence
-Little Fires Everywhere *TW*
abortion
-The Grace Year (YA & my top 2020 book - so good I read it in a day) *TW*
pregnancy
What’s on your reading list for 2021? -Mexican Gothic ^^ That's it so far, not a whole lot of time for reading and once I start a book if I'm into it then I get obsessive so I tend to avoid during the semester/school year.
What are you reading? For fun I am reading “Midnight Sun,” which is Twilight told from Edward’s perspective for those lucky enough not to know that. Judge away! I am also reading a book about healthy eating in pregnancy trying to motivate myself.
What is the best book you read in 2020? “Where the Crawdads Sing” was excellent.
TW and actual spoiler
Fair warning that in addition to sexual violence there is an inability to get pregnant sub-plot at the end.
What’s on your reading list for 2021? I got the Harry Potter series for my last Birthday and I plan to re-read the series this year. Some friends and I are also hoping to restart our book club, so that will give some ideas.
@dobbysfavoritesock I read the first outlander and was not a huge fan. I think there is something wrong with me because everyone loves it. Is it like Harry Potter where if you give up after the first book, your opinion means nothing?
@fameonmain2 i loved “in a dark, dark wood” by Ruth ware as an audiobook if you haven’t read that one yet!
@fit@fitzfizz no judgment on midnight sun! I didn’t even know that existed. Now I want to read all of the twilight books again and then read that haha
@bows22 I will confess I have not read all the books in the series. I read the first few and then was derailed. I liked the original book the best so I don’t know that it would get better if you keep going. For me, similar to the Song of Fire and Ice books, my interest in the book series was renewed after I saw the television show.
@fitzfizz I am also now interested in reading “Midnight Sun” 😀 Perhaps this is a confession but I really enjoy YA fiction.

What are you reading? We Were the Lucky Ones by Georgia Hunter; historical fiction from WWII of a Jewish family separated in the war. So far really good but a little bit of a slower read for me
What is the best book you read in 2020? I follow a book club from K8SmallThings and Lauren Bown (sisters) on IG and the first two books (and the one were currently reading) were really good!
Regretting You by Colleen Hoover *tw*
Babies
The Last House Guest by Megan Miranda *tw*
Suicide/murder
What’s on your reading list for 2021? I'm excited to see what else the book club picks, I really like just having someone else pick out good books and tell me what to read but I do have a few on my list including The Vanishing Half.

@chindimples04 MH listened to the HP
books when they first came out. It was the only way he could get through them
too, since he’s not really into reading.
@fitzfizz I keep buy the new illustrated
HP books and rereading them too. They haven’t come out with all of them yet,
right?
I love getting new books to add to my
list. Almost 100 books on my “want to read” shelf on Goodreads lol. I used to read
on the bus ride to work, then I started driving myself when the pandemic hit. I
only just started getting into audiobooks from Libby. So I haven’t read much
this past year.
What are you reading? Currently reading “Into the water” and “The 5th
Horseman.” I don’t normally read 2 books at once, but I started one while the
other one was on hold.
What is the best book you read in
2020? I’ve really only read the Women’s
Murder Club series this past year. Easy to follow along on audiobook during my
drive. And I clearly can’t stop reading them, so that must be a sign of
something lol.
What’s on your reading list for
2021? Finish the series… there’s 20 of
them? I’m also excited about the Twilight book. I have that one on hold too
lol.

@bows22 I definitely already decided to re-read the twilight books after I finish this one. I have no shame! I do read the occasional more literary book (mainly only for book club) but most of my media consumption is fluff. I realized long ago that with my stressful school/job situation I just need to admit that I enjoy trash for entertainment because it is an escape.
@LJMoon6 I thought about trying to get the illustrated HP series, but I really just wanted to have a matching set so I have the regular ones. I have flipped through the illustrated ones at Barnes and Noble and they are really cool.
@acleverusername Yes! I've read that trilogy! So good! I loved the golden compass movie and was sad they didn't keep making them, so I sought out the books. It's been a while since I read them but from what I remember they were really good!

@bows22 I’ll have to check out “Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine"; sounds like my type of book.
@krash_ I've done a lot of WWII, concentration camp reading over the past several years, including The Lilac Girls and The Tattooist of Auschwitz and All the Light We Cannot See (read this in 2017 and OMG!). Most of the books are really well researched and written, but I find them very heavy so I need to take a break. I might pick "We Were the Lucky Ones" at some point this year.
@LJMoon6 oh I didn’t even know there was a movie!!! (Well, actually I've since Google searched it, and the movie poster is very familiar; I'll have to watch it.) Have you seen the HBO show? It’s REALLY good (albeit hard to understand until about 2nd season; hence why I’m looking to read the books.)
@chindimples04 Harry Potter audio books are AMAZING and that's how I got into HP back in 2000, when Book 4 was coming out. Napster was all the range back then, so I had downloaded all of the books and would listen to them on my commute between cities.

What is the best book you read in 2020? The Nickel Boys: really well done and very sad. I also thought Drink was interesting.
What’s on your reading list for 2021? The Ballard of Songbirds and Snake
TTC#1 - 2 IVF cycles, 4 transfers, 2 miscarriages (LC age 4)
TTC#2 - a very welcome surprise without intervention (LC age 2)
What is the best book you read in 2020?
Some of these are old books that I just got around to this year. I added TWs for both traumatic and pregnancy-related content.
-I'll Be Gone in the Dark (non-fiction true crime) *TW*
What’s on your reading list for 2021?
-Mexican Gothic
^^ That's it so far, not a whole lot of time for reading and once I start a book if I'm into it then I get obsessive so I tend to avoid during the semester/school year.
What is the best book you read in 2020? “Where the Crawdads Sing” was excellent.
TTC#1 - 2 IVF cycles, 4 transfers, 2 miscarriages (LC age 4)
TTC#2 - a very welcome surprise without intervention (LC age 2)
What is the best book you read in 2020? I follow a book club from K8SmallThings and Lauren Bown (sisters) on IG and the first two books (and the one were currently reading) were really good!
Regretting You by Colleen Hoover *tw*
What’s on your reading list for 2021? I'm excited to see what else the book club picks, I really like just having someone else pick out good books and tell me what to read but I do have a few on my list including The Vanishing Half.
DS: 6/1/18 (Pre-E; IUGR; seizures; NICU)
TTC #2: 12/2019
Sept 2020: HSG possible blocked right tube
Nov 2020: Letrozole + TI - BFN
Dec 2020: Letrozole + TI - BFP!!! EDD 9/18
@chindimples04 MH listened to the HP books when they first came out. It was the only way he could get through them too, since he’s not really into reading.
@fitzfizz I keep buy the new illustrated HP books and rereading them too. They haven’t come out with all of them yet, right?
I love getting new books to add to my list. Almost 100 books on my “want to read” shelf on Goodreads lol. I used to read on the bus ride to work, then I started driving myself when the pandemic hit. I only just started getting into audiobooks from Libby. So I haven’t read much this past year.
What are you reading? Currently reading “Into the water” and “The 5th Horseman.” I don’t normally read 2 books at once, but I started one while the other one was on hold.
What is the best book you read in 2020? I’ve really only read the Women’s Murder Club series this past year. Easy to follow along on audiobook during my drive. And I clearly can’t stop reading them, so that must be a sign of something lol.
What’s on your reading list for 2021? Finish the series… there’s 20 of them? I’m also excited about the Twilight book. I have that one on hold too lol.

@LJMoon6 I thought about trying to get the illustrated HP series, but I really just wanted to have a matching set so I have the regular ones. I have flipped through the illustrated ones at Barnes and Noble and they are really cool.

@chindimples04 Harry Potter audio books are AMAZING and that's how I got into HP back in 2000, when Book 4 was coming out. Napster was all the range back then, so I had downloaded all of the books and would listen to them on my commute between cities.
@dobbysfavoritesock & @fameonmain2 ✋🏻Me three on the YA books! I'll check out Midnight Sun & The Grace Year.
