Happy new year, mamas! What are we cooking up this week? *Did anyone make a nutritional or lifestyle related goal to ring in 2021? Optional: Want to share it here so we can support you or share how we've approached the same goal?
5) Pasta & shrimp - throw in whatever odds and ends I have from the week
Breakfasts: oatmeal, eggs or berry/spinach smoothies with these Blender Bombs Lunches: leftovers or these chicken parm meatballs over zucchini noodles
No new goals in the new year. If anything, I'm trying to stick to my pre-pregnancy healthy habits as much as I can. I've gotten back into a good movement groove where I'm getting 25 min. of some kind of movement in 5-6 days a week. I'm going to start meditating again...I fell off my daily habit when fiance (now DH) and I moved in together last year, and think it will be really good to bring that dedicated calm back for baby.
We had so much delicious food over the holiday break! We had quite a few leftovers, and I’ve become master at freezing them so they’re ready to easily heat again! That being said, my two younger kids just aren’t that into holiday food. So I’ll save the good stuff for when DH is home, he just left for work yesterday and won’t be back until the weekend at the earliest. My kids aren’t that into meat, so we work around it. And I’ve been having a tough time with cooked vegetables. I can eat fresh stuff all day though!
1) Quesadillas and fresh vegetables 2) (takeout!) Either sushi, teriyaki, or Thai (it’s my teenager’s choice because she is doing a lot of babysitting so I can go to my appointments and grocery shop) 3) Spaghetti and meatballs with salad 4) Potstickers, fried rice w/veggies 5) Bean tacos and rice, w/saladÂ
This year I want to make sure that I really go through what is in our fridge and freezer to make sure everything gets cycled out and we don’t waste food. We eat pretty healthy, and organic too. But I guess I could be more active. It’s hard to work out when you feel like you’ve been working out by taking care of 3 toddlers, 2 kids, and a house all day long. Yard work is something that I need to step up, I really dropped the ball when I first got pregnant.Â
Not sure the order yet, but this week we're having - Vegetarian Nachos Shredded BBQ beef sandwhiches Chicken Wings Lasagna
I signed up for an intuitive eating program months ago, and still haven't made it through the introduction videos. I really want to work on those principals.
Tonight will be pork chops with winter squash. I have a lot of beets so I should boil some as well...
Tomorrow will be Greek roasted whole chicken with potatoes and a salad
Wednesday might be tofu nuggets... with rice and a veggieÂ
Thursday will be ribs with sweet potatoes
I think we'll order in on Friday
Saturday will be steaks with potatoes mash and brocoli
We eat pretty well all year long and mostly organic (I can't remember who in this group couldn't care less about organic food 😅). I guess I'd like us to stick to this COVID induced regimen of only ordering in once a week. We used to be bad at this.
A little behind on my meal plan this week: Yesterday was miso ginger soup with cilantro chicken wontons tonight was shakshuka tomorrow is gyros Thursday I think we will do leftovers because we have a bunch of stuff in the fridge still Friday will be an African sweet potato stew (I made it awhile ago and froze a bunch) Saturday is Greek lemon chicken and rice Sunday maybe breakfast for dinner? (unless we do a big breakfast over the weekend)Â
DH doesn’t really eat breakfast so I’ll have whatever my heart desires haha (eggs, bagel, frozen waffles, yogurt) Lunch we typically just have leftoversÂ
No New Years resolutions over here....a few years ago hubby and I made a resolution to actually plan out our meals for the entire week (we were both working crazy hours, never knew what we wanted to make for dinner when we got home, and ended up eating out A LOT). We were pretty successful and have actually continued to keep up with the weekly menu for the most part. I try to figure out the menu over the weekend and go shopping on Mondays. Been a little lazy the last couple of weeks though 😬
