  • How far along are you?
    5+4

What are your long term goals?
To get my post baby #1 and pre baby #2 body back at some point and to continue to workout throughout this pregnancy.

What are you goals for this week?
30 minutes of elliptical each day and continue to eat healthy

How are you doing so far with your goals? (Feel free to AW or vent here!)
Yesterday I hit 2 full months of not missing one day if working out! I'm proud of myself:)

Any obstacles? DD2 has started waking up from her naps after like 20 minutes which is messing up my workouts since I workout while she naps. I might need to start trying a new strategy...

    Questions? Not today:)

What are your long term goals? To get closer to my prebaby weight and work on my pelvic floor. I suffered from SPD last time around so I am hoping to put that off for a bit since I will inevitably have it again.

What are you goals for this week? I made an appointment for January 9th with a trainer to help my pelvic floor. I've been meaning to do it but after my loss I had zero motivation.

How are you doing so far with your goals? (Feel free to AW or vent here!) I don't enjoy cardio or anything like that and completely lack motivation.

    Any obstacles?
I am working from home full time with a 4.5y/o in tow in a 300sq ft tiny house. So yeah, it's challenging.
  • How far along are you?: 5 + 2 (based on O date)

What are your long term goals?: Gain strength to prepare my body for the physical demands of labor/taking care of a baby.

What are you goals for this week?: Honestly I'm giving myself a bit of a pass this week... it's so hard for me to get motivated between Christmas and New Year's! So mostly my goal is to just be reasonable- move a little more, get some healthy meals in, and wrap my mind around getting a bit more focused/ambitious next week.

How are you doing so far with your goals?: Fine so far! That's the advantage of not having super lofty goals I guess, haha.

Any obstacles?: I keep telling myself I'm going to get some short walks in, but it's so freaking cold out that I just can't bring myself to do it. Looking forward to the part of this pregnancy that takes place in a more temperate season... then of course by August I'm sure I'll be looking back wistfully on these chilly days!

Questions?: Several people recommended the Peloton workouts to me last week (thank you!), now I'm looking for more info on if it's actually worth it to get the bike! For any of you that have one, any regrets? As I've mentioned before, I'm not a workout person at all so I'm a little nervous about dropping so much money on something that I have every reason to believe I will not take to... but people really do seem to love those machines!

@the_most_happy I read a bunch on Reddit and “hacked” my own peloton set up for a fraction of the price with a bike from Amazon, my iPad, and a cadence tracker attached to the pedal. I don’t regret it at all because I knew myself and I’ve gone in and out of using it consistently - grateful I didn’t sink a huge cost into it. I figured if I surprised myself and became religious about it I could upgrade to the real thing and sell my set up online.

That being said, I get a bit of envy not having the beautiful interface of the screen, and obviously I can’t participate on the leaderboard. I get over those things, and the savings was worth missing out, but if those features are important to you they are definitely lacking in the DIY model.

Pelaton purists will tell you it’s not the same without the bike (I’ve used one at the gym), and if you’re looking for that whole, branded experience I’d say they are right. It really comes down to how much you care about having the real deal. If you’d use it religiously I’d say it’s probably worth the splurge.

How far along are you? 5 weeks

What are your long term goals?
To work out 3-4 days a week

What are you goals for this week?
To complete three cycling rides on the peleton app and one pilates workout

Drink at least two water bottles a day of water

How are you doing so far with your goals? (Feel free to AW or vent here!)

Hit my water goal for the day
-Just did a 20 min "Year of Yes" ride

    Any obstacles?

Just general lack of motivation and frequently waking at night

    Questions?

@jaxalia I did the same thing. I use my Sunny health and fitness bike along with my daughter's kindle fire for the peleton app
  • @the_most_happy I bought my bike 2.5 years ago and am definitely part of the cult. Prior to purchasing I rode with the set up others mentioned. Getting the bike was a game changer for me and we actually saved money because it was cheaper per month than my gym membership. I ride with a group of women I met through the bike- we pick a ride and a strength workout to do each day and then race each other. We are all in different time zones so being able to see where their metrics were in the ride at the spot I’m at is key. For me, interaction with the leaderboard is one of the biggest motivators and why I think the price tag is worth it.

@bmo88 I have that ride bookmarked!

How far along are you? 7+6

What are your long term goals? Stay active during my pregnancy.

What are you goals for this week? Do a few rides and 2 strength classes. Last week I was on the struggle bus but I woke up feeling great and squeezed a ride in.

How are you doing so far with your goals? (Feel free to AW or vent here!) Eh, managing. I’m trying to give myself grace with the nausea etc. also my metrics suck but again, I’m just trying to not vomit so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Any obstacles? see above re: trying not to vomit.

    Questions? Nope!
  • @the_most_happy thanks for tagging me!

How far along are you? 5.2

What are your long term goals? Maintain active (shooting for 2 to 3 rides per week and probably adding in couple days of yoga/pilates/strength? Maybe add Robin's prenatal stuff?) OH and I'm signed up for my first power zone challenge in Jan.

What are you goals for this week? I gotta get my motivation to do my rides... it's harder already for some reason!!

How are you doing so far with your goals? (Feel free to AW or vent here!) Doing pretty good!

Any obstacles? Time time time and feeling tired

    Questions?

I'll add my peloton story here. I'm not an active person by ANY means. I got peloton in October so relative newbie but it does keep me on track. Not sure if it's the guilt of the cost, but the system works. I also love having the additional classes on the app so I think that's a very low cost commitment (I think it's like 14 or 15/mo for the app, and the monthly membership actually goes up to 39 with a bike which is a small point of complaint for me).
  • @hannelorre I think the price gouge on the app if you buy the bike was the most offensive part for me. A smart business move, sure - but I feel like it’s a really bad way to treat your “cult following”. People pay it so it must not really matter enough to change, but I get charged up just thinking about it 😂
  • How far along are you?

    6+5

What are your long term goals?

    Stay active

What are you goals for this week?

    Do 1-2 rides and 1-2 walk/runs

How are you doing so far with your goals? (Feel free to AW or vent here!)

I have been so sick and tired all week I haven’t been able to do anything. I wasn’t able to do much last week either. I really need to get better. I will be starting a daily med to help with the all day sickness today so I’m hopeful after a couple days I can get to a better schedule

    Any obstacles?

    All day sickness.

Before getting our Peloton bike and tread July of 2019 I was going to OrangeTheory And while I enjoyed the classes there were only 1-2 class times that worked for me and my daughters school schedule. After looking at what I was spending for classes each month we realized it would be cheaper to do Peloton. I’ve been pretty consistent with it since getting it. The only times I’ve struggled is during the beginning of both this pregnancy and my pregnancy in April.

@surrenderdorothy do you mind sharing what group you ride with? I’m in a couple and can never seem to get my times available to line up with others.
  • @hannelorre love hearing from others who were not active prior to getting a Peloton, because that's exactly the boat I'm in! I know there's no magic bullet that's going to make me go from someone who avoids working out to someone who loves it, but I just need something that's a little more motivating than me trying to do my sad little push-ups and curl-ups on my bedroom floor, haha.
  • Warning: debbie downer post ahead

    How far along are you?
    6+3, I think.

What are your long term goals?
Stay at a healthy weight through pregnancy and prepare for another natural birth.

What are you goals for this week?
Literally to do anything active besides chasing around my 4 other kids.  And drink more water.

How are you doing so far with your goals? (Feel free to AW or vent here!)
It's not going great this week.  The nausea leading to complete loss of appetite may have caused me to drop a few lbs, but not in a healthy way.

    Any obstacles?
Insane levels of nausea.  I'm not even throwing up yet, just eating a bite of basucally anything then dry heaving for 20 minutes.  My kids' fruit snacks are the only thing I can stomach today.  And the nausea is leading to a complete lack of motivation.

    Questions?
What healthy foods are you able to keep down right now?

@mrspants0809 so my ride group isn’t through one of the official Pelo groups. A colleague of mine invited me to join a text chain of women she knew that had a bike 1.5 years ago. It’s expanded from 5 of us to 9 since then. I invited a friend from college, my sister, etc but I haven’t met half of the women in person. Sounds weird but we text every day and they are the best motivation for riding! We are all professionals and most of us are moms. I always feel motivated to ride knowing that they all have the same amount of stuff on the plates and got it done.
  • @MrsPyrowiz survival mode for now! Hope your nausea gets better soon.

@the_most_happy you can always try the peloton app for free for a month! That should give you access to all the ondemand classes including strength ones. They've recently added barre, pilates and prenatal yoga/strength.

@mrspants0809 do you use hashtags for groups to see whos on at that time? I usually ride in the evening so my rides don't line up with most people either. I'm just not a morning person...

Did get Kendall's top 10 of 2020 ride done. That was a pretty good one. I still have to try the year of yes rides - maybe tomorrow!
  • @the_most_happy I just saw that the Peloton app is free for the next 2 months if you wanted to try it without committing to paying for it.
  • @mrspants0809 oh wow, thanks for the heads-up!

I've done at least 30 min/5 days for a couple weeks now. This week I did a lot of long hikes with my family for an hour or more, couple miles most times. Only 32 more weeks. ugh. But proud of myself for doing it so far.
