What are you bringing your June baby home in?

This is probably a ridiculous question...but what kind of outfit are you bringing your June baby home in? I'm sure you're all like "duh, clothes"...haha.

My first was born in early April, and where I am it's still cold. We had a long footed Burt's Bees gray romper w/ matching hat - both monogramed.

Now that we know baby #2 is also a BOY (got our NIPT results back yesterday!) I'm on the hunt for a coming home outfit - but it's hot here in late June. I feel like my head tells me that babies don't regulate body temp like we do, obviously, so something long might be best? But if it's 75 degrees out that might be too hot?

You know, I’ve been thinking about this too. Both of my boys were winter babies, so I’m a little lost with this. When I had my first, the pediatrician told me the rule of thumb for newborns is whatever we’re comfortable wearing PLUS one layer. So my brain tells me if we’re in short sleeves, put baby in long?

But we live in Florida, so June is going to be looking more like 85-90 degrees here. It’s hard to justify putting a long sleeve sleeper on her in that weather, but I also know the A/C will be cold.

I’m definitely interested in hearing what other people say on this one!

We have a tradition that once we find out the sex we purchase a coming home outfit. It’s nothing fancy, just something cute. We will probably just do a cute romper and socks and a sun hat. I am placing my bets on our baby coming at the end of June.

I’ll likely bring baby home in a sleeper.

My first I did a cute coming home outfit but they’re so inconvenient.

My second we came home in a fleece sleeper.

This one I’ll likely bring home in a light sleeper.

If for some reason it’s super hot I’ll use short romper.

DD was born in July on the hottest day of the year (112!) and she came home in a short sleeve monogrammed onesie and matching bloomer shorts and giant hair bow. DH drove our car right up to the hospital exit though so she was outside for less than a minute.

I usually just do a cute sleeper or a onesie with pants. I like to take pictures at the hospital, so I bring a cute outfit for that. But then change them into something comfy for the ride home.

It can be in the 60s to the 80s in late May/early June here, so I will probably bring a light footed sleeper and a cute onesie as options for coming home. I will probably throw in a light blanket to put over the little guy in the car because DH is always hot and likes to blast the AC.

DS was a late October baby (due date was Halloween, but he came early). He came home in a fleece footie sleeper and a very cute knit pumpkin hat. I would love to find a cute hat for Baby boy #2 as well.

@DoubleUp8 He is so so cute, I love the pumpkin hat! Here is DD when she got home, she was 3 weeks early so all the newborn clothes were a little big on her:

DS was a little over 3 weeks early and was only 6lbs when we left. All of his newborn clothes were huge including the outfit we were going to bring him home in. This time I’ll be more prepared since we’ll be almost 4 weeks early with a premie and a newborn lightweight sleeper. I found some really cute sleepers at target this weekend! So I bought 2 in diff sizes 😂

DD was just over 6lbs and the NB outfit I got for her was huge. I will probably do long pants with a short sleeve onesie or a sleeper. I will definitely have preemie and NB size with us though.

I haven’t even thought about this lol. Probably a sleeper or onesie with shorts and I’ll bring a bow in case it’s a girl.

Temperatures in June where I’m at are hot so there’s a pretty good chance it’ll be 85-90 degrees when I have the baby. What would you suggest for a coming home outfit ?

@brilea9 - Short sleeved onesie, pants, and socks. I always do pants on a newborn even in the summer because they don't control their temperature well, and the AC can be pretty cool in the house.

Wow, I haven't thought that far ahead yet. FTM, so I'm clueless about a lot of things. Is this just like whats most practical for the first time baby is out of doors, or is it a meaningful moment/a thing? Or both? Are people going to be asking me "what did you bring him home in?"

@lizalovespasha many people pick a special outfit to bring baby home in. Then they hold onto that outfit forever and tell their grown children, “this is what I brought you home in”. (Somewhere I have the outfit my parents brought me home in. If I could have found it I would have brought DD home in it too - so I do see the sentiment in this) I did pick something cute with my first because you typically take photos of them in the car seat or as soon as you get home. Plus, a lot of the time it is the first outfit their in that you picked for them. Many hospitals just put them in little white onesies or tops while they are there unless you want to bring other clothes. I just let them wear the hospital outfits there because it’s laundry I don’t have to do. So, yes it can be practical or not. It can be whatever you want it to be.

@lizalovespasha - As klj0228 said, it's sentimental for a lot of people, or people get pictures of the baby in the carseat. Imo, car seat pictures are some of the most unphotogenic, just because of the lighting and position of the baby, so I preferred to get my cute outfit pictures done in the hospital and then just changed the baby into a comfy sleeper for the ride home.

All my babies have come home in a Tiger’s outfit, so just bought this one. Will need socks still, but.... that’s handled now that we know baby’s sex.
